I just need to add, please check the original creator e ve I’m sure you’ll like him. ( I know I sound desperate, I’m sure people know this and I know the links in the description I want people to enjoy the music he makes that I enjoy so so much)
I'm wrong, but "I don't know what they're saying but it sounds pretty!" Is basically just anyone trying to enjoy something spoken in a foreign language. XD
I'm japanese people🇯🇵🇯🇵 My English is maybe funny but I want your guys to read this.🥺🥺 This MV represents a child who will grow up. The monster in the MV is an adult from a boy's perspective, and the girl represents a boy who was innocent in the past. Teenager doesn't want to be an adult, but they yearn for an adult. But the boy recalls his childhood rather than his innocence. In other words, it represents an adult who doesn't want to have a monster, and a girl represents a childhood that he wants to return to. This song is trying to show you that you're going to grow up with courage.
ええ、eve の曲は常に mv で本当に象徴的です。この英語のカバーと同様に、曲もすべて素晴らしいです! yeah, eve's songs are always really symbolic with their mvs. the songs are all great too, as is this english cover!
I think it could work cause the lyrics say "treasure what you have now, didn't mean a thing" it's what adults tell children, but obviously children don't really understand.
I think this story is based around the boy and girl (who is also the blue man), and his inability to accept the fact he's in an abusive relationship with the girl/blue man. From what we've seen at the beginning, and the various shades of blue, and overall just sad and dull feeling we get from the video is that the young man is depressed, he's been depressed for a while, but finds happiness with a girl he's falling in love with. But the only part of her he's in love with is the venison of her he idolises, ignoring her flaws and the overall bad person and even monster she can be. Parts like 2:20 which he puts in her in an actual spotlight and 2:03 where he chases after the ghost of what he wants, the empty shell of what he thinks she is. But she's not, she's not a good person and moments like 2:16 where he's seemly taking thus blue man? (the girl) out for dinner but chooses to not pay attention of what's in front of him, but instead in his own head. All the pairs of shoes in 2:55 could represent the amount of people's lives she's already ruined, and he's next as she takes a bite out of the shoe she's holding in 3:03. In 3:48 we see the blue man standing over the man with a clear umbrella, only for at to 3:50 switch to the girl with the same clear umbrella, staring him down with an unamused look. Near the the end of the video with see a glimpse of the girl at 4:07 and she turns back into the monster, staring down what she sees the boy as after killing him, trash. The flooding represents all the lies and shitiness the boy had tired so hard to ignore about the girl and shutout it all out but it eventually came all flooding out and overwhelming him. The lyrics refer to "And here you’ll always stay" makes me feel he won't able to leave this situation if he doesn't do anything to help himself. "Afraid of letting go now, afraid to move." Also proves that he's scared to leave, he doesn't want this to end and he doesn't want to do anything about it. The boy eventually knows the girl's love for him is shallow and lyrics such as "Always looking at you far away, adoring everything you say, but every time I fell for you, inside it all, the less I knew"and “Treasure what you have now” they’re pretty words but didn’t mean a thing" means he's starting to feel a discount with her and feels whatever she's saying is fake and superficial. At the end of everything I don't think she really kills him but rather rips him apart and breaks his heart.
@@kishoarima1423 I think they are people as wel but it's set in a bad kinda neighborhood when he follows the ghost and bumps into someone the "person" gives him a very nasty look. The same as when he is standing in front of the monster that's telling him off
Got any idea as to the meaning of when the boy changes to someone with white hair an eyes floating around them. He appears as 1:16 for a total of three frames (and agin in the final chorus) as well as at 1:41 holding a gun at the monster man. I think it';s also that form at 1:10, just really curious since it's actually this face that is used as the thumbnail on eve's original video
In particular during the ending scene/s with the umbrella, it's the blue man from an outsiders perspective but the girl from (presumably) the boy's perspective 3:48
After she stands on her tippy toes to do whatever she’s doing off screen another character is snapping his fingers in our main character’s face, as to snap him out of a fake reality.
I really enjoy how you worked this into English. The lyrics are beautifully placed and convey exactly what the original song expresses. Seriously, I'm impressed. The band (Eve) has a manga out called "Kara No Kioku" (which basically translates to Memory of the Void). There's a mega-theory that uses all of Eve's music videos to tell a much bigger story, but I'm excited to find out from the manga what everything means. At any rate, the theme of this song in particular is supposed to be about anxiety and depression and how the main character (MC) is dealing with it. As you've guessed, there is a LOT to unpack with even just one of these music videos. The "blue man" is supposed to representative of the MC's anxiety/depression, plotting against the MC but also acting as the MC's only source of comfort. The lyrics "and here you'll always stay" is supposed to reflect that the MC either needs to push past those walls. Lyrics "Don't know how I can start again" followed up with "afraid to move, so here you'll always stay" - it all reinforces the idea that the MC feels trapped without any way out. The girl is supposed to be representative of the MC's "way out" so to speak. Like I said, there is a lot to unpack lol. She could be someone from his past that symbolizes what he once had and how that past is something he's holding on to, which the blue man uses against him (anxiety). Holding on to that and idolizing her and that memory has only become toxic, but he can either let go or "here you'll always stay". The end doesn't necessarily imply suicide, but rather "utter defeat". We see the blue man with the transparent umbrella, then cut to the girl with that same umbrella. Shortly, we see the blue man standing over the trash can with the MC's body in it (earlier in the MV you see that trash can with mannequin parts, you see it again without those parts, and then here with the MC's body). The blue man has won, convincing the MC that staying where he is and never confronting his emotions or issues is the only thing he can do. The shoes being tied up could symbolizing traveling or lonliness (they are in Japan, so their culture of shoes tied up isn't going to reflect drug dealing the way we see it in America, though it isn't ruled out either as Eve's MVs are super symbolic with layer upon layers of depth and artistic value). In that sense, the MC's options are all tied up, all of the roads he could have taken are exhausted. This could also be the blue man (disguised as the girl/working with the girl) to convince the MC that suicide might be his only option. The ribbon on the girl is red, which the shoe she is holding also is tied up with something red. It's possible that red is symbolic to another MV, but I won't go down that road lol. Ultimately, (thanks for reading this far), the theme revolves around the MC's inability to cope with his issues in a healthy manner, his repeating a cycle of self-torment, and his inability to connect with anyone else.
Thanks to you covering Dramaturgy I had a chance to listen to more of Eve's work and eventually came across Tokyo Ghetto and thought "wow it would be cool if someone covered this". Never thought it would happen but man, am I glad you did. This... this is beautiful. Thank you.
I think this is actually the story of a boy who grew up in less-than-stellar circumstances and wound up getting into a criminal life of sorts, hence "Tokyo Ghetto" - Ghetto's being infamous for being places where crime run rampant. He meets a girl who he falls madly in love with that makes him have second thoughts about his old lifestyle (which is represented by the Blue Robot Thing which is dressed sort of like a robber of sorts) and this song/video is about his desire to escape his life of crime, but that he ultimately fails to escape it. "Feeling their dark glare: Not a sound out there, but I know they're following me everywhere." The protagonist is well aware that his old crowd is looking for him. He's actively trying to escape the life of crime, but it's not so easy to run from. "Never gonna see again. Goodbye to a spell and to the night coming to an end." is likely referring to the idea that much like the famous fairytale Cinderella, the 'magical girl' he met who changed his life will likely be someone he'll never be able to attain. He feels like perhaps he might not see her again? "My days and my nights went on and on until you found me." I think is referring to the idea that until he met this person, his life was simply cyclical, and aimless without end. "Coffee Stains cover my life." -- Again, this person has a pretty ugly stain on their life due to their life of crime. "You found me and then I suddenly -- I don't know how I can move again." - He's now uncertain of how to move forward in life after meeting this person that made him have second thoughts. "Afraid of letting go now, Afraid to move so here you'll always stay." -- Again, like previously stated he doesn't want to give up his old life of crime, but he also doesn't want to give up the chance to be with this dream girl he's met. "Deny my heart, or Deny the mess i've made? I'm starting anyways." -- Simply put, does he choose the girl and leave his life of crime, or does he choose crime and deny the girl. Either way, live moves on. "Words so tender but how? That's not what you were really like. That look/face still became so beautiful." -- The romanticized idea of the life of crime, despite it being horrendous. The protagonist clearly understands that crime is an awful thing, but he can't help but find the romanticized image of crime to be something that pulls him towards it. You'll notice in the video that the Blue Robot Thing has both of them in a picture frame together, but cuts the guy out -- That's because his life of crime has no room for a significant other. Immediately after the girl is shown with various hanging shoes and bites into a shoe, which visibly bleeds. What should be noted however is they they're dangled by a red string, which I think is indicative of the red string of fate (which is commonly used to represent two being being tied together by fate) However, she takes a bite out of it. Part of me thinks this is the woman ending the relationship with the protag, due to them continuing their life of crime. Soon after, the protagonist is seen scrounging on the ground, and is "flailing in the darkness" in another panel -- probably a good sign that he is lost and no longer has a sense of direction. He falls back into a life of crime, and due to his seperation the "floodgates" (which represent the Inescapable circumstances of the Ghetto) open up and hastily swallow up the protagonist and push him back down to a new low in his life. Ultimately, he is both figuratively and literally consumed by his life of crime -- which ends in his death while the girl he met can only look onwards in sadness at the protagonist. He is chewed up and spit out as trash, and the Ghetto consumes another victim.
I believe the "Treasure what you have now, they're pretty words that don't mean a thing," refer to the girl (most likely) or someone in his crime ring telling him, well, this isn't going to last, so live in it. "And here you'll always stay," refers to never being able to escape the life of crime. Edit: there are two of the blue men that are nearly identical, but the base colors of their masks are different. The one with the white mask is the boy's and it seems to be just lurking and following? It shows up the most often though. The one with the black mask is the girl's though. It appears at the end and takes her place before the umbrella scene and in the transformation scene.
Im incredibly late to this comment section. Seeing as their are already multiple essay length comments on people's theories ill summarize this to bullet points to save you some time :). I believe that: • The boy is an outsider, a reject from society, someone that doesnt fit in, yet he is trying to integrate into society (crossing the wire fence in the beginning). • The blue man is the embodiment of the boy's anxiety and fear. • The integration goes very poorly, and he is considering suicide (the mannequin in the trash bin) however one thing goes well... • He meets a girl who understands him, who gives him a chance, she knows what it is like to be a reject, yet she still functions in society. She is perfect in the boy's eyes. This meeting gives the boy hope, (the next shot of the trash bin, this time it is empty, his suicidal thoughts are being warded off). • However the boy is terrified to take the next step, he is scared the girl will abandon him if he confesses his love for her, "afraid of letting go now, afraid to move", (despite the fact that this is exactly what she needs him to do). He does his best to keep the situation exactly as it is, frozen in place "so here you'll always stay". • However due to his unwillingness to make any further moves towards the girl they begin to drift apart (the blue man standing under the umbrella with his arm around the girl, as it was his anxiety which took the girl from him). • The boy tries his hardest to recover what he has lost, (him running after the girl and searching in the dark for her). However it cannot be done, his opportunity for happiness was stolen from him by the blue man, and now despair sets in (flooding water represents him drowning in despair) he tries to escape it and runs from it, but ultimately it catches him. • His ward against suicidal thoughts having been taken from him by the blue man, and utter despair having caught him, the boy is now at the mercy of his dark thoughts, at which point his anxiety transfroms into a gigantic unknowably horrific monster which murders him (the boy commits suicide). At the end the trash bin is filled with the boy's corpse, and the blue man stares down proudly at the atrocity that he caused, his handywork. • The reason we see the girl in the final few shots is because the boys final thoughts were of the girl, his regret and what could have been, she is seen earlier standing behind police tape, with a mournful look on her face, i believe this is her reaction when she discovers that the boy ended his life, she feels this way because she was still waiting for him to admit his love...

I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS AND I LOVE IT THANK YOU JUBY And going off of what Juby said in the description at 4:05 it looks like the black-cloaked guy with the hat from Dramaturgy and Literary Nonsense. And the guy with the hand face guy from oki ni mesu mama appears in 3:31 Just some interesting things I noticed in the original :)
When you're downloading music on napster and yoi're like "Ima go check and see Juby's songs" Then you see she uploaded 48 seconds ago "Speak of the devil"
I've been listening to the original since it came out. Tbh I'm so glad you covered this. The song means so much to me because earlier this year I got out of a toxic home life and this song was my life blood. Your lyrics and voice are so pretty and do the song justice.
I've seen a lot of people that think this the story of an abusive relationship, but I think this is the story of a boy who had multiple personalities. The reason is that you sometimes see the boy transform into the girl, and the girl transform into the blue dude. I feel like they're all the same person, and when the song says "So overcome the real one" it's talking about the real persona, the boy. At the end you see the girl standing in front of a trash can, and that could mean the boy was defeated and "thrown away" . But I could be totally wrong. It's just my opinion
He kills himself instead of accepting love because he feels undeserving. And lives in perpetual reflective sorrow. Over coming something that can't be understood. Never knowing who he is. Who he really is. Becoming his eternal home, self punishment, and identity until he leaves.
A year later after listing to this song cover like a thousand times. I found that if you wear head phones in one ear it has the repeating guitar but in the other one separately ITS JUST THE BEAT! I don't know if I'm stupid or dumb but this is really cool! You never stop amazing me JubyPhonic!!!!!!!!
A minute of your time, please! Personally...I don't like this. And before you spam me with hate comments, hear me out. I love Juby's work. My favorite cover she's ever done is Bad Apple. It rocks! It's probably that I grew to attached to the anesthetic of the original or what. The main thing is probably the autotune. Juby, in my opinion, you don't need it. Just giving constructive criticism, you can still make your songs the way you like! The squeaks of autotune, especially at 1:06. Tokyo Ghetto is a rather depressing song. I think adding autotune plus Juby's original voice is like adding glitter to Heavy Metal music or mixing dubstep with Purple Rain by Prince. Again, just my opinion. I won't downvote this because I can still see the amount of hard work Juby put into making this, but it still irritates me when fanboys/girls attack anyone who dislikes this for having an opinion. Thank you for your time! And a song I would really like you to cover, if you haven't already (and if you're reading this, Juby), is The Secret of That Girl. I think it's bubbly beat would be perfect for your voice! :D
I definitely agree on the autotune thing. She's shown she can do it wonderfully without. And personally I do think she has done depressing songs in the kind of tone necessary to back it up. Admittedly I wasn't crazy about this one either.
I appreciate this. Your comment is a well-written, constructive critique that doesn't attack the artist, demean their work, or provoke any (rational) person to the defensive. I sincerely hope you don't get spammed with hate comments; it would be such a shame if someone decided to respond to a genuinely nice critique in an aggressive way.
I agree, I think that Juby's voice is so beautiful and bubbly (and sounds like an anime char) she should sing nice bubbly songs like her spirit. and before this goes down with hate comments i want to say that Juby doesn't need the autotone to make the song better, i think the song would be perfect if there was no autotone. but i do like the song and Juby's work. This song was actually the second song i have listened to on her channel. And if Juby ever gets a chance to read this, I want her to know that her songs have a lot of hard work and beautiful tone in them. And i wish i could have a voice like hers :)
4:08 is this a reference to How to eat life, because the person in the trash can showed up for one quick frame in How to eat life, and the boy in How to eat life was either a cannibal or had wendigo psychosis, in which I am guessing when the girl bit the shoe and it started bleeding it had some thing to do with cannibalism.
I know I’m late but here’s my theory; He’s a waiter at a restaurant (the way he’s dressed and him picking up a towel, and the part about the coffe stains) and he’s lonely then he meets a coworker (she’s dressed like him) and she’s single (her holding the single tied shoe) and he can’t talk to her because his anxiety (the guy in the jacket) won’t let him. He thinks about her a lot (the scene where the shoes walk away from him and it cuts to a guy knocking on the wall by him) eventually after chasing this girl for some time his fear of asking her consumed him (the end where the guy turns into a monster and eats him)
oH MY GOSH YES I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS COVER TO COME OMG i've been waiting for someone to answer my translyric prayers and my lord and savior juby fucking delivers
This is great. Stumbling upon your cover for Echo was literally what got me into music and I haven't regretted spending my slow empty hours going through your older songs. You introduced me to music that wasn't the annoying pop music of the radio and now I found something I actually enjoy listening to. Keep up the good work!
Honesty years later I still feel like you embody the voice and cadence eve was going for so perfectly easily one of my favorite covers and easily my favorite eve cover
It might be cause I wrote my own translation forever ago but I just can’t jam with some of the lyric choices, normally your really good at making things flow but I feel like a few of the lyrics felt disconnected, but Eve is super hard to translate into English since god compositions always go so fast and have really intricate and deep lyrics. Either way it’s great to see another Eve cover I’m obsessed with him and Tokyo Ghetto is like my favorite jam!
I heard juny pai version of the song before this one since he posted it around when eve released Tokyo Ghetto and I resales liked it and I prefer his translation rather than Juby for this song. I also agree with u about the whole eve is hard to translate and stuff
IDK if you read comments on years-old videos but I just wanted to say that I love all of the covers I've heard you do and I hope you keep it up. I'm not actually sure how I encountered your music but you've led me to other artists I've liked too (including Eve), and while I have heard the original of this song, I LOVE your version. Something about it really resonates with me in a way that just doesn't with the original. I can see from the pop. comments that there's a bit of discussion over the "true meaning" or w/e but your interpretation nails what I feel. I can't even count the number of times I've listened to this cover. I love your work and hope we won't be seeing an end to it soon.
YES!!! Love this song!!! I literally thought it’d be awesome if you sung this song when I heard it the first time! I love your voice soooo much! Just thank you for making such wonderful content!!!! Edit: I see 22 dislikes...Did they miss the like button? Or were they too amazed at Juby’s singing? Oh well whatever the reason, I really don’t care. BECAUSE THIS IS BEAUTIFUL!!!!!
Sleeperarez Msp I first heard it from Eve possibly when it first came out or a little later. But like I said I immediately thought ‘Jubyphonic should do a cover over this song.’ So I’m very happy that she did do a cover!
I would like to personally thank you Juby for introducing me to Eve's music. I just love all of it so much, and may I say your voice FITS THIS SO DANG WELL LIKE WHAT THE HECK I LOVE IT.
OHHHH MYYY GOD!!!! I’VE BEEN WAITING FOR SO LONG!!!! It was so long that I even learned the original Japanese version that Eve sings. 😂 The song tastes like good candy.
A theory from me . . I think that the whole ghetto and everything is just the main character himself. The girl represents the Main Character's Love, or maybe happy feelings. The blue guy represents his feelings for his hunger, lust, or maybe sanity. His love was soon tainted by his feelings of sanity. The Blue Guy. He soon feels that everything is the end, and a flood came afterwards which shows that he is already broken.
A tjhin If we take a more literal approach, the phrase “and here you’ll always stay” is said a lot, most importantly at the very end, where the main character stands over a trashcan full of what appears to be the girl. Based on early lyrics, he was likely initially caught up in work, explaining all the coffee, and grew to hate the world. The girl showed him another perspective, and he ended up being obsessed with her, but she was killed, leading to the trashcan. In the animation, every character but those two are in the same style, meaning it’s probably the main character’s warped worldview. The blue man in many shots stands over the main character, leading me to believe he’s his boss or leader in some way.
A tjhin I think the blue guy is the real him, but it’s a him filled with anxiety and fear. The boy is who he wants to be, this would make sense of the lines “overcome the real one or be afraid and here you will always stay” if he doesn’t overcome his fears he will never be together with the girl and he will never move forward in life.
For me personally I think this song is about the mc(the mainboy in the song) and the girl being kidnapped together by the blue man. And the girl throughout acts and is most refered to be a ghost or not actually there throughout the song. And right before mc boy gets his head bitten off, the girl stands behind 'caution'tape. Most likely saying that people found her body. And I do believe the whole song is about mc trying to outrun the killer but not being able to because he's flooded with emotions of how he could've saved her or how they got theirselves into this mess(I still rewind that moment in my mind), contemplating how he's going to move on without the girl (i don't know, i don't know how I can love again) And maybe the girl knew that the blue man was going to kill her(you said "treasure what you have now" such pretty words that didn't mean a thing) [I didn't know where to put this but in the scene with the girl surrounded by the shoes might mean the blue man is only trying to kill girls that resembles something or someone] And since mc dies at the end, I think he didn't outrun the killer, dying right next to the girl. Or uh, something like that haha.. Just my first impressions about the song
1:01 I prefer the bubble on coffee line, personally. It symbolizes childhood (the bubble) and adulthood, (the coffee) or (going off the themes of the original video with anxiety) the bubble symbolizes the mc and the coffee represents the society he's trying to mesh in with.
Loving the visuals in the song; really telling a story that I would want to see play out in an anime with this style behind it. Great job with the song, Juby; groovy vibes with this. Keep singing and creating. God bless yours and you! :)
So the blue dude's name is Janitor and for as much as we want to talk about metaphors, he is a real being, the monster form of him is also real. He's part of what are essentially the Yokai of the Eve universe Kara no Kioku. You can read as much as you want into it metaphorically but also understand these events are also happening literally in universe,. That and Fight Song, How To Eat Life, Dramaturgy, Last Dance, Outsider, Night is Faint, Literary Nonsense, As You Like it, Mob, Demon Dance Tokyo, and Don't Replay the Boredom are all in the same universe and that the creatures/doubles/etc you see are the same sort of creature as Janitor. Even Hearts Forecast might be a part of the universe, but that's an iffy one
Remember kids: love never dies, it merely changes form. Don't let your broken heart stay like it is, don't stay idle as the world tears you down. but INSTEAD remember love can regrow, like how a seed can become a flower using days of sunlight, nutrients, water, and corpses of older life to build anew.
Sat up last night seeing if this would drop after the sleep deprived preview on twitter, didn't come, goes to bed, wakes up, "posted 7 hours ago" DAMMIT Anyway A++ as usual, a fantastic end result I bet Eve would be proud.
Yooo what if this song I about societal pressures and the monster dude is a personification of it. Like maybe the boy is who the main character is because they should be but the girl is who they truly want to be?? That would be cool. Idk tho
If I could like a song multiple times I would've added another solid 8k by now. The lyrics, the animation and the instrumentals are just... once again my heart strings are tied up in so many knots I don't think I can ever get them straightened out again.
Oh who am I kidding... I'm addicted to this song lmao I was already failing to stop myself from listening to it when I saw it in my recommended, and now there's this beautiful JUBY COVER AAAAA I LOVE IT
I was looking for an English Cover of Tokyo Ghetto after I had found the original one. As much as it was worth it, I keep accidentally singing the song in Japanese while listening to this version.

This MV represents a child who will grow up.
Also, what I want to tell you about is that the MV and lyrics of Eve have a lot of meaning, so it's a lot of fun considering that.

yeah, eve's songs are always really symbolic with their mvs. the songs are all great too, as is this english cover!
I think it could work cause the lyrics say "treasure what you have now, didn't mean a thing" it's what adults tell children, but obviously children don't really understand.
@@MasonthefrogI know it’s years old but this is a good tip. The ‘people’ is a bit out of place when you already have Japanese before it
I think this story is based around the boy and girl (who is also the blue man), and his inability to accept the fact he's in an abusive relationship with the girl/blue man.
This is an excellent theory. Good job!
This is an amazing theory. But, what do all the other people ( Or monsters ) represent? All the other people she has ruined the lives of maybe?

You like what you convince urself to
I really enjoy how you worked this into English.

Hearts hearts and more hearts to you and this wonderful song
AHHHHHHHH Juby this sounds amazing as Always!!!!!!! Thank you for this masterpiece!!
Thanks to you covering Dramaturgy I had a chance to listen to more of Eve's work and eventually came across Tokyo Ghetto and thought "wow it would be cool if someone covered this".
Never thought it would happen but man, am I glad you did. This... this is beautiful.
Thank you.
Not even kidding: I have NEVER clicked on a video so fast!! This is SUUUUCH a bop Juby
The message u said at the beginning kinda reminds me of Ash from the anime banana fish (just felt like I had to say that 😅)
I don't know man, but it's somehow accurate
I believe the "Treasure what you have now, they're pretty words that don't mean a thing," refer to the girl (most likely) or someone in his crime ring telling him, well, this isn't going to last, so live in it.
"And here you'll always stay," refers to never being able to escape the life of crime.
Edit: there are two of the blue men that are nearly identical, but the base colors of their masks are different. The one with the white mask is the boy's and it seems to be just lurking and following? It shows up the most often though. The one with the black mask is the girl's though. It appears at the end and takes her place before the umbrella scene and in the transformation scene.
underrated asf theory, its pretty solid
Very similar to the lives of rio children in the favelas
Ohhh noo I saw this way too late. Thank you for another awesome cover, Juby!

Hello Selphius I am you fun!!
Im incredibly late to this comment section. Seeing as their are already multiple essay length comments on people's theories ill summarize this to bullet points to save you some time :).
I believe that:
• The boy is an outsider, a reject from society, someone that doesnt fit in, yet he is trying to integrate into society (crossing the wire fence in the beginning).
This is the one

"Speak of the devil"
I think you mean "speak of the goddess"
That could be true.
as a person who has that, i like that idea
I agree, I think that Juby's voice is so beautiful and bubbly (and sounds like an anime char)
she should sing nice bubbly songs like her spirit.
and before this goes down with hate comments i want to say that Juby doesn't need the autotone to make the song better, i think the song would be perfect if there was no autotone.
but i do like the song and Juby's work. This song was actually the second song i have listened to on her channel. And if Juby ever gets a chance to read this, I want her to know that her songs have a lot of hard work and beautiful tone in them. And i wish i could have a voice like hers :)
this is my favorite song EVER. and your cover blew me away. you did eve justice.
I know I’m late but here’s my theory;
He’s a waiter at a restaurant (the way he’s dressed and him picking up a towel, and the part about the coffe stains) and he’s lonely then he meets a coworker (she’s dressed like him) and she’s single (her holding the single tied shoe) and he can’t talk to her because his anxiety (the guy in the jacket) won’t let him. He thinks about her a lot (the scene where the shoes walk away from him and it cuts to a guy knocking on the wall by him) eventually after chasing this girl for some time his fear of asking her consumed him (the end where the guy turns into a monster and eats him)
Maybe it kinda makes sense since anxiety can take any form

Honesty years later I still feel like you embody the voice and cadence eve was going for so perfectly easily one of my favorite covers and easily my favorite eve cover
It might be cause I wrote my own translation forever ago but I just can’t jam with some of the lyric choices, normally your really good at making things flow but I feel like a few of the lyrics felt disconnected, but Eve is super hard to translate into English since god compositions always go so fast and have really intricate and deep lyrics. Either way it’s great to see another Eve cover I’m obsessed with him and Tokyo Ghetto is like my favorite jam!
Nadi Eve is amazing, personally I like the Ako No Secret, if that’s how you spell it
Wait, I'm not the only one who is obsessed with Eve?

A theory from me
.
@@rs_mind8352 ah i see
A tjhin I think the blue guy is the real him, but it’s a him filled with anxiety and fear.
And I do believe the whole song is about mc trying to outrun the killer but not being able to because he's flooded with emotions of how he could've saved her or how they got theirselves into this mess(I still rewind that moment in my mind), contemplating how he's going to move on without the girl (i don't know, i don't know how I can love again)
And maybe the girl knew that the blue man was going to kill her(you said "treasure what you have now" such pretty words that didn't mean a thing)
[I didn't know where to put this but in the scene with the girl surrounded by the shoes might mean the blue man is only trying to kill girls that resembles something or someone]
And since mc dies at the end, I think he didn't outrun the killer, dying right next to the girl.
Or uh, something like that haha.. Just my first impressions about the song
Everyone have different perspective and I see a lot of you have really good ones!
Would it be the man all in black from the Nonsense Literature video at 4:05?

Yessss!! I was waiting for this!!!! I LOVE IT!!!❤️❤️❤️ AMAZING AS ALWAYS!!!
Dammnnnn Juby! Your covers for Eve are the best!! Keep up the great work!
Remember kids: love never dies, it merely changes form. Don't let your broken heart stay like it is, don't stay idle as the world tears you down. but INSTEAD remember love can regrow, like how a seed can become a flower using days of sunlight, nutrients, water, and corpses of older life to build anew.
Sat up last night seeing if this would drop after the sleep deprived preview on twitter, didn't come, goes to bed, wakes up, "posted 7 hours ago" DAMMIT
Anyway A++ as usual, a fantastic end result I bet Eve would be proud.
OUR EARS HAVE BEEN BLESSED AGAIN!!!
THIS SONG HAS BEEN SUCH IN MY HEAD FOR THE PAST TWO MONTHS
JUBY YOU'RE A BLESSING
Yooo what if this song I about societal pressures and the monster dude is a personification of it. Like maybe the boy is who the main character is because they should be but the girl is who they truly want to be?? That would be cool. Idk tho
So being a trans person
Ay came to your channel and congrats on 700k, you deserve it.
This reminds me of Dramaturgy in animation.
The music is done by Eve who also did dramaturgy but the animator is different.
You could try looking up the outsider music video? It's an e ve song, but it has the same animator who did dramaturgy.
Not surprised... Both songs were made by Eve and he does have his own style. I love his surreal videos!
The dancer from dramaturgy can be seen in the bottom window just before the vocals start
Oh! Makes sense. Thanks everyone nvn
If I could like a song multiple times I would've added another solid 8k by now. The lyrics, the animation and the instrumentals are just... once again my heart strings are tied up in so many knots I don't think I can ever get them straightened out again.
Hey Juby! :) do i have your permisson to make an animation with this?
Jubyyy your voice plus the autotune just made the perfect combo for this song. I absolutely love it~! 🖤
2:31 did anyone notice the glove guy from As You Like It?
Oh who am I kidding... I'm addicted to this song lmao
I was already failing to stop myself from listening to it when I saw it in my recommended, and now there's this beautiful JUBY COVER AAAAA
I LOVE IT
I'm a simple person Judy uploads I click
The animation for this is amazing! It’s so abstract and it fits with the music perfectly
I’m loving this song and I love you Jubyphonic!!!!( *Happy Thanksgiving* )
A friend used to sing this. I never appeached this song until they were gone. You have a nice voice.
I like it.....A LOT and this is one of my fav songs
i adore you Juby
Hecking yeah I love this song
oh my god how did i miss the notification?!?!?!
WE HAVE BEEN BLESSED BY JUBY AGAIN
I was looking for an English Cover of Tokyo Ghetto after I had found the original one. As much as it was worth it, I keep accidentally singing the song in Japanese while listening to this version.
I wasn't expecting a cover of this being good because Eve's voice adds to the original music so much.
But this is actually pretty damn good.
Love it! Wonderful singing like always!
I started listening to jubyphonic years ago, so it's amazing to me how much she has improved. And almost to 700k subscribers! I'm glad juby's getting the recognition she deserves, and hope the vocaloid community can keep growing. So many talented singers, songwriters, and artists
ah yes, my depression just got 5x worse right now. Perfect cover, perfect voice, just a somehow nostalgic song, and a really sad one.
I heard E ve's song before this and when I saw the notification for this I almost screamed. Juby I love you so much...
