Hello everyone, I have another before and after art school comparison video for you all. I know I’ve made so many of these already but now that I’ve finished my first year at an academic realism atelier, I couldn’t resist sharing another hehe. In this video I also want to reflect on this past school year and how it’s affected me as an artist and as a person. 💕

    Thanks so much for watching,

Wow! What a difference a year makes! What's crazy to me is that you were a great and imaginative artist prior to art school, however I can clearly see such a huge improvement in rendering. I can't wait to see where this journey takes you

thank you dear! 💕 you also nailed the term "rendering" - in class for drawing, they try to get us to say "rendering" instead of "shading". and for painting they also want us to use "rendering" instead of "blending" - i guess rendering is a more encompassing word haha.

i was shocked at the thumbnail!! 😳 the rendering is insane & i love that you kept your signature style with the fairy like proportions 🤩💗

I love the soft, pastelly vibe of the first one, but the second is like putting on HiDef glasses and it's *gorgeous*. Love them both, love the improvement-now it's mine turn to stop being afraid of color depth. TTvTT

Your conversation with your partner reminded me of one that I had with my boyfriend. Having people who believe in you is such a blessing and so motivating. You know that they're on your side and willing to support you every step of the way. 🥰

I understand where you're coming from with the disclaimer "I know I already did a bunch of these videos, but couldn't resist..." etc, but please understand, we can never get enough of you!! We all admire your work so much!!! You never EVER have to apologize for doing just what you wanna do, here on the internet - or in life!
lol anyways...... love you since 2015!! 💜

I have been following your channel for a long time and love your whimsical style and watching your art evolve over the years… I can relate to being in an industry where you feel like you don’t belong (I was in construction, but was always an artist), feeling like you have plateaued, and like you will never reach your real goals and your creative well just… dries up. I didn’t draw or paint a single thing for an entire year before I saw my now-mentor was looking for an apprentice. It re-lit the fire that fueled my true life goal and calling. I have never been happier. Is it hard? Yes. Stressful at times? Yes. But am I happy? Abso-freaking-lutely! Happier and at peace with myself and embracing who and what I truly am. I’m glad to see that art school has rekindled the fire for you and that you have had such a positive and transformative experience

Man this is amazing. I’m working on a oil piece that I’m taking my time on. I feel that majoring in art really helps, but also keeping focus on it in your own is key. I put the painting to the side and I said I’ll paint a few strokes when I feel like Bering bothered with it. I also trying to get better at using markers at the same time

Happy I always belived you are capable of create that huge art piece that belongs in a museum along with The old masters. To me your art belong there since The very first piece i saw of yours. I hope you are able to make your dreams come true in this new journey. You are The reason I paint. I Know The old masters since i was a little kid in school. But being a Young adult Woman You were my main Inspiration. You are The one who got me thinking “Lord there’s a place for me in this world as well, with colorful, girly, fairy/dreamy like style”. I Know I may seem extreme but your art save my life when I was a “hikikomori” one step of take my life. You gave me a new and beautiful path. I’m so fucking grateful. Hope I can get a tattoo of your art someday as a Homage and buy huge art works to hang in my house. I wish all success in The world for you. Thank you ❤️ ps. You are my James Jean ✍🏼

Wow, gorgeous video, gorgeous painting, thank you for sharing your experience with us! I feel so inspired. I'm currently in school studying accounting (wa wa waaaa) and art has gotten pushed to the backburner once again. Joining an atelier sounds so exciting!

This video came at a really interesting time for me. I always had a huge passion for painting but also felt like I hit a plateau at a certain point, then went into a more games oriented route and eventually studied computer science in order to create a more stable career because I'm also someone who values security. I got really bored doing computer science and fell in love with oil painting.
After graduating I got a decent job working on a game-like simulation doing 3D stuff mostly. Now our whole team got laid off and I have to figure out what I wanna do again. I chose security over really pursuing my passion and I ended up getting neither. I think this is really just fate kicking my ass to finally pursue what I was too scared to do in the past.
I also get these "what if" scenarios in my head where I went to art school straight after high school but in reality I would probably also have faced the same issues of self doubt etc. so starting today rather than 10 years ago also has its perks. Experiencing what you don't want makes you more sure of what you do want.

No. I much prefer your old work- it was YOU. It had your style injected into it. This isn’t your style, it looks like your art professor’s. Keep being you!
