    How has it taken me so long to find this guy? I’m a descendant of the Vikings and Scots I am probably related to this dude. It makes me glad that there are human beings like this still around. Move out of cities people. Live in the country. In another year or so you’ll see what I mean. My cousin Bjorn here definitely gets it.

    i find it pretty cool how our peoples ways of doing things are similar in so many ways, I was taught when I was younger by an pure elder to make the glue the same way, the ash makes the glue have a little more grip, thank you for sharing this knowledge and always remember ... keep smiling!

      You are very welcome. Sometimes memories are lost amid the chaos of life and it takes a simple reminder to bring them back. Your video is a reminder that these things must be passed on to our young in order to keep our past alive. Thank you for what it is you do and when you get your book internationally, please send an alert somehow that I might buy it. Unfortunately the only other language I speak besides English is Tsalagi. So Norwegian would be lost on me in reading .

    • @BjornAndreasBull-Hansen
      @BjornAndreasBull-Hansen  7 років тому

      Forgive me if I'm wrong, but are you Cherokee? Tsalagi is one of the Cherokee languages, isn't it?
      About my novels: Yes, of course. I'll let everyone know!

    • @shannonrussellgarza4657
      @shannonrussellgarza4657 7 років тому

      I am yes, my father was full Cherokee and my mother half Cherokee and half Irish. My grandfather came over from Ireland as a boy so my respect and love for nature runs deep and strong. My father taught or at least tried to teach me many things when I was younger, though I must admit I did not always listen or pay attention as I should have. Your videos has brought back many wonderful memories for me . I will be more than happy to share if you ever wish to hear them. Feel free to contact me if you ever wish to talk further, I signed up to your blog so my email should be in there.

    Bjorn, you know what I like most about you and your videos? You don’t claim to be an expert. One can tell you have a lot of skills but you don’t claim to have mastered them. Normally someone who has mastered something is a one trick pony but the impressive thing about you is you have a ton of general outdoorsman knowledge. 👍🏻 You’d have to produce 500 arrows in that fashion before truly mastering it and who in the hell has time for that? Good job!

    I learned to make pitch glue with pitch/charcoal as well as deer pellets...the plant matter in the poop makes glue stronger...you can also use dandelion fluff or cat tail fluff ......make sure you harvest the fluff in the afternoon because in the morning it can collect the morning dew...(lesson learned)...makes for fire popping water in the glue and is bothersome....love your vids sir

    Hey, great video as always,, for the glue what I like to do is pre crush the charcoal for proper ratio and then mix them together in a tin can or something you dont care about, and then bead it onto the ene of a stick so that you can heat it up and use it as a hot glue stick :)

    • @BjornAndreasBull-Hansen
      @BjornAndreasBull-Hansen  7 років тому +1

      It is a risk, but not so much when it's a small rock on a small fire. That said, I know all the rocks in that creek and that little rock there have been in the fire before.

    Tnx for sharing, that's definitely a nice arrow :) ... will have to just mention one thing (as a bit of a critique) it is generally not recommended to take rocks from rivers or wet riverbeds to heat them up, as it is said those rocks can explode if they have water drained in cavities within them. But yeah, other than that i am looking forward to seeing you make the beautiful looking bow... be safe and have fun :)

    • @BjornAndreasBull-Hansen

      Dutch Courage Thanks! It's a solid rock, that one. And it's been in the fireplace before, but the kids like to throw them around. (Yes, I actually know every rock in that little creek.) But I should have added a note about that.

      here's some tips for surviving any situation
      1. Have food stock:
      2. Find a shelter:
      In times like these having a shelter which can product you from weather as well as other living being is important. If you are out of your home, you have to first and foremost search for a makeshift shelter or you have to think about building one if natural shelters are not available.
      3. Know the dangers:
      (I read these and why they work on Marla survive system website )

    Hi 🤚🏼 it’s nice to find your channel. It’s refreshing.....I was wondering if you ever tried flintknapping? I also would like to know if you make your own primitive bows? if so do you have videos on it? I would like to see them. I found out that if you hunt deer you can use the sinew for string as well. Thank you for sharing....there’s not very much men out there doing what you do anymore, I commend you. All you need to make now is a quiver for your new arrow’s. 😁 🏹 Have a nice day/evening.

    I found interesting that you also use turkey feathers for your arrows. That's all I use here in the USA. Every spring, when I kill a turkey, I save the wings (right and left wings separate) for arrow feathers. Since the turkey is a new world bird, do you know what the Norseman of old used to use. In other words, what bird did they kill and used the feathers?
    Lastly, I can not place the country you are in. It's too flat to be Norway. So It has to be either Denmark or Sweden.
    Please let me compliment you on your English. Great job both on the bow and arrow projects.

      The Last Neanderthal Thanks a lot' I'm in Norway. Concerning the feathers, and not including domestic birds here, what I find in my local forest are normally the feathers from crows and the occasional raven's feather. As they deteriorate after some time, we don't know for sure what the Vikings used.

    do my chance know the approximate diameter of the shaft guide?

    • @BjornAndreasBull-Hansen
      @BjornAndreasBull-Hansen  7 років тому +1

      Monika Neff The spine of the arrow shaft will not be dependant on the thickness when it's a branch. And it gets stiffer when it dries. This one needs to be reduced in a week or so.

    I had a good laugh at the glue fire fiasco! Thanks for including that. Did you use a river stone because it was already saturated with water? Giving you a barrier for the pitch to heat on? Or am i science-ing wrong?

      @BjornAndreasBull-Hansen  7 років тому

      I know these rocks, I have been there often. These rocks are used alternatively around the fire and then thrown into the stream by the local kids, so they're safe.
