    Okay, I genuinely hope people understand both the intended joke and the usefulness of this for getting an army painted quickly.

      I can't tell you how much I appreciate this comment. I feared that people might dismiss the useful information as being "part of the joke", or that they wouldn't see the humor and just dismiss me as some arrogant prick touting the "latest/greatest" thing to ever hit the internet. Thanks for getting it! Perfect comment!

    Glazing blue over the white at the end is genius. It's a rechop of the half chop, bringing us back to a full chop. A double half 360 chop OSL. We are getting in the skateboard tricks level of naming insanity.

      I wish you were around when I was trying to think of the title for this video! The "Tony Hawk Painting Method" is WAY more fun! (Or simply the "900", for short)

    Interesting and vibrant style! What opacity inks do you use?

    • @threhane3492
      @threhane3492  Місяць тому +1

      Great question. I never thought to look at that. The red ink that I used for the base of the OSL coming from the orb is Daler Rowney Crimson ink. It's thin enough that I only use a couple of drops of flow improver in the cup before running it through the airbrush. It's labeled as "transparent", but as you can see, it has pretty good coverage when used this way. The white ink that I used for the basis of the blue glaze on the back of the mini is liquitex titanium white, and it's opaque. I honestly don't think that white ink is the best choice here. As I develop this further as a speed painting method, I'm moving towards just using a white drybrush as the base for the blue glaze on the back. In this case I use a 50/50 mix of cheap liquitex white acrylic paint thinned with liquitex white ink (the paint adds a lot of body, and the ink adds pigment). Thanks for the comment!

    Any time an airbrush is used is an insta-fail (for me)

    • @threhane3492
      @threhane3492  24 дні тому

      Yeah, I get it. I understand that using an airbrush can exclude a large portion of the audience. I demonstrate the same style without using an airbrush in this video here:
      ua-cam.com/video/9fFmRGYQtzw/v-deo.htmlsi=Ijk44ANOJylDSgOL
      I hope it works for you.
      Basically, the idea behind half chop (intentionally silly name) is that you start with a dark blue primer, and quickly paint half of the mini in shadow (which I never use an airbrush for). The "fully" painted side of the mini should be painted in your preferred style. I probably could have done a better job expressing this in the video. It's been a ton of fun getting miniatures painted quickly with this style, and It's something I enjoy sharing with others. Thanks for participating in the discussion! I hope to see you around.

    I m new to this hobby :) i usually need ca 1 hour per model and that is already long😅. As i see the mini on the playground from above , i m already happy when they are not grey. I just finished my first army and i learned priming, drybrushing, blending (uhem), highlighting and putting a mediocre gradient on the model. I m far from being good, but atm that is enough. Painting faces and eyes is too much, it smudges and that is not satisfying. I try to make it look ok 😊

    • @threhane3492
      @threhane3492  Місяць тому +1

      Welcome to the hobby! I hope it brings you much joy over the years! "Speed painting" is definitely a relative term. To some people, 8 hours on a model is considered speed painting. To others, anything over 30 minutes isn't speed painting, and is too long. Find what's works best for you, and brings you the most enjoyment. Thanks for watching!

      Thank you four checking out my channel and taking the time to comment! My next video will demonstrate the same style without using an airbrush. The idea of having a model half in shadow can really be combined with any preferred painting method to speed up the process. I hope you give the next video a look, and try it out!

      Just buy a makeup brush, it’s really easy to drybrush almost exactly as with an airbrush
