Please do more 4-stars pre-releases. They are really entertaining and it helps a lot to people that don't care much about powerlevel but really want to build their favorite characters correctly.
if you don't care about power level it means you are not using them on hard content that require optimization thus it wouldn't really matter if built incorrectly.

Yup. Candace may not be the best, or the most meta, but giving Hydro infusion to another unit is something XQ and Yelan cannot do; and, what Zajef praises C6 Benny for, with Razor. Look up "Shatterbloom" comps with Candace. Again! Not the best. Elemental consolidation onto one unit is still something that only Candace can do, with Hydro application. What other character in the game can not only let Geo units build EM, but also let both Shatter and Crystalize actually meaningful? Just kinda sad she's skipped over because of, honestly, first impressions.
I'd agree in the cases of one's like Layla since there are some uses for her. I can get why he'd skip Dori and Candace though, since there just isn't much to talk about.
Enjoy the 4* release videos. Highlighting the constellations is very nice since 4* constellations are actually practical unlike most 5*s, nice knowing where they stand compared to 5* c0 characters.
Personally I enjoy pulling characters I like the design or playstyle of and then building as meta of a team as I can around them. Think most people are like this. There will be people who either love a new 4* character or end up getting a lot of constellations for them and want to know where they fit in and if it's worth investing into them.
I honestly find pre-releases for the unreleased 4*s more interesting than the ones for the 5*s since the 4* always gets much less spotlight and pre-tc. Would love to see more of these going forward.
I LOVE seeing any pre-release analysis video. (Regardless if it's a 4-star or 5-star.) I really love the game and the theory crafting, so seeing content I enjoy for it really brightens my day!

I'm looking forward to try her with my Triple Geo team (Itto/Albedo/Gorou). Diona is an overkill, I noticed that after getting Gorou C4 I almost never use her burst. I sometimes use Kaeya or Fischl as flex but they can be needed for other side and crystalize shields aren't always reliable and some floors are too harsh for them (yes, that's probably skill issue too). Layla seems to be a perfect balance between safety and some dmg

I'm absolutely going for her! I've needed a second shielder since Zhongli and one I can actually use in Abyss since forever (I only use Zhongli in Events that require that level of power). Her design is everything I could have asked for.
Do remember you don’t always need a shield, theres healer, teams with eye frames, An teams based off damage reduction it’s a good choice pulling for Layla just reconsider if your have better before going for someone who might be mediocre
@@kingswag7902 some characters just prefer shielders, such as yoimiya (and similar units) and itto who rely somewhat heavily on them (yoimiya due to needing to do her full auto string for maximum damage in her skill timeframe, itto cause of geo resonance). also fyi it's not eyeframe, i is short for invincibility.
I just got her to C4 on the current banners and combined with a second HP set I find that her shield is now stronger than my Zhongli's shield who I built for Burst damage on fav. Very nice to have a Zhongli alternative. Plus hyperfridge with her is fun.
I'd like to see more pre-releases for 4-stars that are usable so I know which one is worth investing resin into. I'm glad Layla is decent, because I like her design and I hate struggling to fit a bad 4-star or 5-star into a playable team.

I like whatever prerelease info you do- I think it's more telling when you don't "waste time" on a character, like how you skipped over doing a Dori analysis in favor of Shinobu post-Dendro, so I think there's a lot of value in you doing 4-star pre-release analyses, especially when you're picky about who gets one. But whatever you do (or don't) make floats my boat.
Two questions. 1.) How much relevance will her C4 have on buffing team members damage? 2.) You don't usually do pre release for 4*s but will we see one for Faruzan?
one thing abt her that's overlooked imo is that she's currently the best tenacity user, like she's perfect for the set. zhongli's pillars are static and have a small aoe; kokomi's skill, while it has a big aoe, is static and her teams don't benefit from the shield strength buff; and shinobu (the previous best) doesn't benefit from shield strength either + the effect doesn't trigger in ranged battles layla's teams benefit from all the bonuses, and her skill hones in on the enemy, making the buff be permanent (as long as the shield is up)
don't her stars only fire after 4 are generated and one is generated every 1.5 seconds, thus rendering her unable to take advantage of such a set unless you're going hog wild with benny/TF Cyno/Yae/Lisa?

i do appreciate videos like these, i feel like this helps lots of people (like myself) because now theres a lot of possible combinations so keeping track of everything is hard, even more with 4 stars and hoyos convoluted skill wording, and the lack of content doesn't motivate me to decipher new characters.

"If she loses her shield, she stops being good" So a shielder that is useful and actually requires you to not just be ungabunga, I'm sold. To me this is a positive.
using layla in melt ganyu, replacing zhongli just because im bored and seeing new face maybe entertain a little. she is basically 4 star zhongli skill, i make her a shield bot just like zhongli, layla's shooting star is more reliable to proc totm 4set, unlike zhongli whose pillar is stationary and destructible, i dont really mind her cryo application and energy regeneration, the only important thing is only to build her shield strong enough for 12sec duration

I honestly think Layla as the Deepwood Memories holder in a hyperbloom team is could work well. Her shooting stars might proc the deepwood effect reliably and if you have the Key of Khaj-Nisut, it buffs Nahida and your hyperbloom trigger, and frees Nahida to use Gilded Dreams EM/Dendro/Crit.
Can Layla be a replacement for zhongli in a hutao double hydro team? Will her cryo application allow a portion of hutao’s CAs to melt or will it cause her N1/N2 to melt instead? If the latter happens and hutao melts with her N1/N2, is Xingqiu’s and yelan’s hydro enough to allow hutao’s CA to vape or will hutao’s CA apply a pyro aura? Assuming that due to Layla, hutao is able to melt some of her CAs, will the damage gain from melting her CAs lead to more damage than zhongli’s universal res shred? (I’m being vague with this question by not specifying how many CAs she would melt because I’m not sure how many can be melted in the first place)
For the last question, I can’t see slotting in Layla bringing more damage than Zhongli. Since Hu Tao teams are deprived of VV shred anyway (and if you do have it, you have no space for Cryo), his res shred is really useful. Not to mention he’s increasing your hydro’s damage and all of Hu Tao’s damage. Compared to Layla who will occasionally give Hu Tao a 33% increase to her reaction damage. I do see Layla as a good 4 star shield option, as she doesn’t disrupt vape like Thoma does, and can carry freedom sworn if for whatever reason you have one lying around.
Seems like a good alternative if you for some reason have a spare Key of Khaj-Nisut lying around. Lets her give an EM buff and makes her shield stronger.
I missed the 4-star vids since Kuki pre-release, which is when I discovered you! Whereas 5-stars will generally be good to invest in, it's not always clear whether 4 stars are worth the precious resources to level up. Your videos help me make that decision and plan out my priorities better.
I like these 4 star pre releases. I was thinking of pulling on yae’s banner for her, but I can safely skip it. Thanks for the info! Please do more of these, sometimes people pull on banners just for the four stars, so it’s nice to know if the four star is worth it or not
I think her value is primarily in role consolidation: she's a sub-DPS, shielder and consistent off-field cryo applicator (consistent meaning unlike Diona and to a lesser extent Rosaria she's not restricted to Circle Impact) all in one relatively inexpensive kit since she only really needs HP and minimal ER to get rolling. She's not the best in any of these, but far from bad in any.
There are scenarios in which she is the best option, particularly in one of the comps I've had the most sucess in floor 12 that is mono-cryo with Shenhe. Diona is a necessity currently for this comp but not only part of her kit is rendered useless but she can't really run cryo dmg% and crit (and Shenhe's quills apply before those in calculation so it affects it). Layla can give a strong 100% uptime shield with cryo dmg% and can get most of her crit stats from Harbinger of Dawn and sub-stats, so HP% circlet is still possible
been waitin on this one fr, gotta let everyone know that she's a downgrade of her counterparts and that hoyo keeps failing trying to reinvent the wheel yet that failure is how the game survives. classic.

Faruzan will most definitely be THE best teammate for Scaramouche and most likely Xiao as well, so at least you don’t have to worry about her being a waste of a slot.
Thank god the tc man covered a 4 star I had hope for, especially on a f2p side account thats currently ass and is suffering because I have no good electro applicator for Nahida, so most of the time I end up getting spanked by enemies and bennett’s healing isn’t always reliable because of the below 70% hp rule to trigger a heal tick, so naturally I’m waiting for either a diona or a good shielder 4 star that doesn’t exist yet to bless this experimental account
14:55 I've personally been using my Eula with beidou for a really long time, and I think that with beidou's damage reduction and Eula's own defense buffs Layla's shield might actually be reliable enough to use in abyss and not fear the energy loss from the shield breaking. I'm still not saying its great or anything but I can see it being just another option. I'll test it out in abyss after I raise her ...is what I WOULD be saying if I didnt already have both yae and childe. Goodbye layla, please return in a better banner in the future please
I think this video really exaggerates the energy problem from shieldbreak. It's pretty damn difficult to break a 20k+ hp shield in 12s which is how long her shield lasts. I use a fav lance ZL with 20k hp shield and it basically never breaks under 12s
I got Layla before I got Zhongli and I've been very happy having a dedicated strong shielder, so I don't really care about cryp energy particles, I just put her in because she has a strong shield. (And my Thoma isn't done yet)
TLDR: VoD? modCheck (edit: also +1 vote for more 4 star pre-releases 🙏) When watching your vids I find myself wanting to know the assumptions used when you do these rough calcs. Usually for 5 star pre-releases, its easy to find the VoD for it because title go brrr. However, I couldn't find the VoD for when you did Layla's pre-release. So I suggest having a link to the VoD in the description for future pre-releases or maybe even most videos in general. One possible drawback I can see with linking the VoDs is that the VoDs automatically delete themselves, so I can see not linking them on most videos in general. However, for pre-release vids, the fact that they are "pre-release" means each video will be most watched while the VoD is still available since most people will probably watch the "post-release" or the "ask Zajef" for an updated perspective. On the other hand, a different problem with linking the VoD a for pre-release is that it can be difficult to decide which VoD to link. Like if you have a few "future Zajef corrections" like in the Nahida pre-release. Despite these possible drawbacks, I still hope you can consider my suggestion Zajef and Editors.
Tldr: cringe attempt at dealing dmg as a shielder created inferior Diano, her value is literally just the triple free wishes we get from leveling her up. Edit: now its future myself talking, f u, past myself, while wishing for Childe I got one Layla and she has Bronya's hurricane hair, 10/10 character for that, every time I use her burst I sing Ganyu's theme song.
I think she's obviously best in freeze teams so I don't think her shield is in that compromised a position. Unlike Diona, she has constant cryo application and unlike Rosaria provides some comfort. I think she helps people feel more comfortable to play without a healer, while not compromising on damage too much. I could be coping though cause I want to play her with Mona for Astrology team haha. I am tempted to go max HP on Blizzard strayer with a crit damage sword. Anyways...please keep doing 4 star pre-releases. Knowing the best way to play a character is way more valuable than whether or not they compare well to Genshin's non-existant metagame.

I honestly think Layla as the Deepwood Memories holder in a hyperbloom team is could work well. Her shooting stars might proc the deepwood effect reliably and if you have the Key of Khaj-Nisut, it buffs Nahida and your hyperbloom trigger, and frees Nahida to use Gilded Dreams EM/Dendro/Crit.

Can Layla be a replacement for zhongli in a hutao double hydro team?
Will her cryo application allow a portion of hutao’s CAs to melt or will it cause her N1/N2 to melt instead?
If the latter happens and hutao melts with her N1/N2, is Xingqiu’s and yelan’s hydro enough to allow hutao’s CA to vape or will hutao’s CA apply a pyro aura?
Assuming that due to Layla, hutao is able to melt some of her CAs, will the damage gain from melting her CAs lead to more damage than zhongli’s universal res shred? (I’m being vague with this question by not specifying how many CAs she would melt because I’m not sure how many can be melted in the first place)
For the last question, I can’t see slotting in Layla bringing more damage than Zhongli. Since Hu Tao teams are deprived of VV shred anyway (and if you do have it, you have no space for Cryo), his res shred is really useful. Not to mention he’s increasing your hydro’s damage and all of Hu Tao’s damage. Compared to Layla who will occasionally give Hu Tao a 33% increase to her reaction damage. I do see Layla as a good 4 star shield option, as she doesn’t disrupt vape like Thoma does, and can carry freedom sworn if for whatever reason you have one lying around.
Her cryo application will eat the hydro aura, so no. Try to avoid using constant cryo application on vape teams
Seems like a good alternative if you for some reason have a spare Key of Khaj-Nisut lying around. Lets her give an EM buff and makes her shield stronger.

I missed the 4-star vids since Kuki pre-release, which is when I discovered you! Whereas 5-stars will generally be good to invest in, it's not always clear whether 4 stars are worth the precious resources to level up. Your videos help me make that decision and plan out my priorities better.

I think her value is primarily in role consolidation: she's a sub-DPS, shielder and consistent off-field cryo applicator (consistent meaning unlike Diona and to a lesser extent Rosaria she's not restricted to Circle Impact) all in one relatively inexpensive kit since she only really needs HP and minimal ER to get rolling. She's not the best in any of these, but far from bad in any.
There are scenarios in which she is the best option, particularly in one of the comps I've had the most sucess in floor 12 that is mono-cryo with Shenhe.
Diona is a necessity currently for this comp but not only part of her kit is rendered useless but she can't really run cryo dmg% and crit (and Shenhe's quills apply before those in calculation so it affects it).
Layla can give a strong 100% uptime shield with cryo dmg% and can get most of her crit stats from Harbinger of Dawn and sub-stats, so HP% circlet is still possible
@@mitsuki1388 layla is also basically the only cryo that can keep up totm other than qiqi.

Faruzan will most definitely be THE best teammate for Scaramouche and most likely Xiao as well, so at least you don’t have to worry about her being a waste of a slot.
Thank god the tc man covered a 4 star I had hope for, especially on a f2p side account thats currently ass and is suffering because I have no good electro applicator for Nahida, so most of the time I end up getting spanked by enemies and bennett’s healing isn’t always reliable because of the below 70% hp rule to trigger a heal tick, so naturally I’m waiting for either a diona or a good shielder 4 star that doesn’t exist yet to bless this experimental account
14:55 I've personally been using my Eula with beidou for a really long time, and I think that with beidou's damage reduction and Eula's own defense buffs Layla's shield might actually be reliable enough to use in abyss and not fear the energy loss from the shield breaking. I'm still not saying its great or anything but I can see it being just another option. I'll test it out in abyss after I raise her

I think this video really exaggerates the energy problem from shieldbreak. It's pretty damn difficult to break a 20k+ hp shield in 12s which is how long her shield lasts. I use a fav lance ZL with 20k hp shield and it basically never breaks under 12s
@@td984 zhongli has 150% damage resistance so for him it's effectively a 30k hp shield
I got Layla before I got Zhongli and I've been very happy having a dedicated strong shielder, so I don't really care about cryp energy particles, I just put her in because she has a strong shield. (And my Thoma isn't done yet)

When watching your vids I find myself wanting to know the assumptions used when you do these rough calcs.
Usually for 5 star pre-releases, its easy to find the VoD for it because title go brrr. However, I couldn't find the VoD for when you did Layla's pre-release.
So I suggest having a link to the VoD in the description for future pre-releases or maybe even most videos in general.
One possible drawback I can see with linking the VoDs is that the VoDs automatically delete themselves, so I can see not linking them on most videos in general.
However, for pre-release vids, the fact that they are "pre-release" means each video will be most watched while the VoD is still available since most people will probably watch the "post-release" or the "ask Zajef" for an updated perspective.
On the other hand, a different problem with linking the VoD a for pre-release is that it can be difficult to decide which VoD to link. Like if you have a few "future Zajef corrections" like in the Nahida pre-release.
Despite these possible drawbacks, I still hope you can consider my suggestion Zajef and Editors.
I do like the 4 star pre-releases.
Tldr: cringe attempt at dealing dmg as a shielder created inferior Diano, her value is literally just the triple free wishes we get from leveling her up.
Edit: now its future myself talking, f u, past myself, while wishing for Childe I got one Layla and she has Bronya's hurricane hair, 10/10 character for that, every time I use her burst I sing Ganyu's theme song.
I think she's obviously best in freeze teams so I don't think her shield is in that compromised a position.
Unlike Diona, she has constant cryo application and unlike Rosaria provides some comfort. I think she helps people feel more comfortable to play without a healer, while not compromising on damage too much. I could be coping though cause I want to play her with Mona for Astrology team haha. I am tempted to go max HP on Blizzard strayer with a crit damage sword.
Anyways...please keep doing 4 star pre-releases. Knowing the best way to play a character is way more valuable than whether or not they compare well to Genshin's non-existant metagame.
Yeah I honestly don't see many situations where a 20k hp shield is going to be broken in less than 12s, this issue seems over-exaggerated
Layla has a better shield than Zhongli!!! (against cryo slimes)
Ha! Zhongli can use black tassel which has passive: Bane of the soft which deals 80% increased damage to slimes(very op)
I love the 4 star pre releases. I don't always get to catch the streams and therefore don't always get the theorycrafting on new 4 stars

I was actually quite interested in Layla, because she's the first 4* shielder who gets HP scaling on her damage. Plus I love her name, one of the most beautiful Arabian names. It means "Night".
