Stuck at home without supplies and with the paycheck coming in a few weeks only so at least I can watch this online and get some satisfaction that involves modelling
I like how they ship the wings kind of together like that because I’ve opened up kits with bigger wingspans and had deep scratches dug into the wings. Obviously causes a heck of a lot more prep work! Also thanks for doing more review videos. You hit the nail on the head with that so thanks again for showing these kits to give us an idea of what we’re getting into before ordering them online.
Hi Andy- I’ve just taken up modeling again after a 4 decade plus absence: and I’m loving it- delighted I’ve found your UA-cam channel- I concur- I would really love to see your build on their new HK 1/48 scale B-17G- Cheers and thanks for a great show, positive attitude and your tutorials- JW
I’ve also returned to building after an long (30+ year) absence.. the quality and detail have improved exponentially! So much so that I’m having difficulty with things like photo etch parts and the amount of super small detail parts!😂 my older eyes and uncooperative dexterity are hampering my efforts lol
Tough times Andy and yeah your right those who are off are stuck at home but sadly can't go to the hobby shop cause they're all closed, but you are open for us and that makes a huge difference for us buddy. Thanks a million and keep'em coming thank you so much.
Andy, Try the Bare Metal Finish, all you need is Krylon Gloss Black and Alclad 2's Polished Aluminum paint with your favorite FS 34088 Olive Drab on the exterior and it'll come out awesome just take your time on the Alclad, wait about 2 to 3 days after you shoot the Krylon primer base Gloss Black, also make sure your seams are filled and polished prior to shooting the Krylon, and it'll look great!
Amazing... i was never into models until i came across your channel and im a huge ww2 plane fan so i think ill love these kits. Really enjoyed the spit mk1b you built! Keep up the good work!
Dusan Lukic at the UA-cam channel ScaleModelAircraft recently built an Eduard 1/48th P51D Mustang "Chattanooga Choo Choo" finishing it in bright aluminum. Didn't look too terribly difficult and I am sure within your skill set Andy. Stay safe wishes from Pennsylvania.
Good to see you still active. Sorry for the business strife. You could look at it as quite the kick ass hobby room to work in for a while. Well equipped. Nice interesting kit. Glad you are well. So far so good. The light was okay. I saw the detail.
Andy, good fortune to you and your business. Just started watching your vids. I was a decent modeler 60 years ago!! My impression is you are an ardently customer focused business. May your future be bright.
Andy. Thanks for the excellent review. I love your build videos. You got me back onto armor, after 35 years of nothing but aircraft. That being said, you may want take a look at Doogs models channel. He did a build series on this kit and finally ended up shelving it
I was going to mention this earlier but didn't want rain on anyone's parade. I was over the moon when this came out. After watching Doog shelve over a multitude of issues the wait for the next great 1/48 B-17 continues . . .
Great review Andy !!! A new 1/48th B-17 Wow!!! Excellent!! As always Andy you rock and lock n load these videos are just what the Dr. Ordered ! Appreciate you taking the time and effort to journey to your store and make them. Looks Great!!!! Cheers !!!!!
About time we got a new moulding of this kit, hopefully we can get aftermarket decals and an F variant to make the Belle would be awesome, thanks for showing.
Having recently build hk Models do335 i assume its really well engineerd. The fit is Superb and Theres absolutely mote than enough plastic to plastic contact in the Wings, so much so that you dont even have to glue them together If you want, same with the landing gear.
I love the HK model aircraft. I think they are some of the best. Love your reviews on the models. Love the world war 2 tanks and modern warfare tanks and vehicles. Keep up the great work and videos.
Ive had this a while...and i agree with you Andy...it took sooooo long to finally release a new tooled 1/48 B-17....cant wait til the F model comes out.
I have the 1/32 and it is possible the finest B-17 I have even come across. Most likely I will have to pickup this one to go with my Pro-modeler. Thanks for the review Andy.
Hey Andy I have the 1/32 scale HK Models B17G a ton of parts wish they would have used slide molding on it the machine guns are crap but got after market replacements for it I might finish soon Iv had for about 4 years
In my opinion the reason the Revell Monogram kits (F and G) have not been replaced is that for the price they've been VERY hard to beat.... I WILL NOT pay what they want for one of those new kits.... and the Revell Monogram kits look awesome with some care.... '
OR... you could also make this as the final Production Series "F" model - as that had a factory fitted chin turret also.... But you would need an F styled forwards fuselage.
Doog has been doing a great build series of this kit and showcasing it's flaws...which are quite a few. As nice as it looks detail wise, I expect it to be one of those mojo killing kits that takes four times the norm to build.
Enjoying your videos. I've noticed that ordering on line shipping is taking Longer do to the amount of orders. I ordered a .2mm airbrush needle from Amazon. It would normally be Monday but not getting until Wednesday.
Thanks for the review Andy, I am looking forward to building the B17 one of these days. Maybe HKM will come out with a 1/48 scale Lancaster. We can only hope. :-) Thanks again!
All of the UA-cam model kit reviewers get their kits for free from the manufacturer. They are not very likely to badmouth a company because their flow of free kits will cease.
B-17 vertical stab shape doesn't look right. Maybe curve of leading edge too abrupt, or chord near top too broad? Not sure. Also, windshield angle looks steep. For some it might be nit picking, for others a major deal. I can add detail and fake panel lines, but harder to fix major shape issues. Need to see the kit. Stay healthy, and thanks for keeping us active. BTW, you and John Moore have taught me more about tanks in the last 6 months than I ever knew before.
Hello Andy, this looks like a great build of a great aircraft, but can you tell me if you know why there never seems to be any crew figures for any aircraft model these days, it is really baffling, Lee.
What I would love to see is some 48th scale ww2 Japanese medium bombers to go along with the betty. Andy you have a lot of pull with these model companies, put a bug in their ear. 😀
Another brilliant video Thankyou Andy. Can I ask a question please, I've been out of modelling for a few years, still got all my kit tho and I'm interested in picking up a reasonable priced 1/35 armour set. Anything that you could recommend to get me started again please
Tamiyas are usually good, but lot of their armor collection is rather dated and it shows so better to pick up something more recent. Also they tend to be little more complicated to build. I would say the most easy good armor kits are some of recent kits from Academy. They really improved a lot recently and they are easy and fun to build.
There was a lot of buzz about the release of this kit, but I've hardly seen any being built on the forums. Thanks for the review. Should build up good.
If someone got creative, it looks like the engine pod is large enough to install 4 small motors to turn the propellers. Just a thought when I saw the model.
Anthony jimenez Like a lot of people, Andy pronounces the name as ta-MI-ya. When Japanese people say the name it almost sounds like “TAM’ya”. But his videos are excellent. :)
This is one point that puzzles me as well. Why go to the trouble of fine detailing things that can't be seen once the model is assembled - ? But if that's what floats your boat - !
Hey everybody I have the 1/32 scale kit and it is beautiful my only disappointment was all of the machine guns barrels did not look right very large sink marks in the actual gun and a ton of push pin marks most where you could not see them after Construction
Think these maybe would be better retitled as 'unboxing'. Reviews kinda need the model to be built so you actually KNOW whether its a good kit, rather than assuming.
randomnickify No idea how anything actually fits together until you build it. Unboxing and overview is fine. But a review cannot be a review until the full finished product is seen. Imagine reviewing a movie by watching the trailer?
Hi Andy, another great review, do you intend to build this beauty sometime in the future? The B17 is far too big for my cabinet, take care and keep safe and well.
Hi; have you ever done a bare metal finish before? I'll have to do a search on your channel, but if you haven't, I'd be real interested in that. Nice big model for an old fella like me to tackle.
Sometimes I wonder why they even bother detail the interior of the plane when at the end of the day the air frame is going to cover up everything and nobody can see to enjoy it?
Because its there , many modellers enjoy doing interiors as it brings them deeper into the subject and provides a human connection. You can't see in most aircraft in museums a model with a detailed interior makes a real difference. I go to model shows with pen torch to get a better look in side. It is surprising what can be seen. A 1/48 B17 will reveal quite a lot.
@Jack Steward A model is not just the end result, its the journey through the build and the research. a detailed cockpit is part of that journey. I've the just spent over 20 hours of modelling time detail up the cockpit and aft compartment of a 1/72 Tupolev Tu-4.
Just a thought, if they (H.K.) does due an “F” version, I hope someone does a “Piccadilly Lilly” version type decal sheet, to represent a “Twelve O’Clock High” (classic aviation book) aircraft....maybe a “Leper Colony” as well?🤔
Stuck at home without supplies and with the paycheck coming in a few weeks only so at least I can watch this online and get some satisfaction that involves modelling

Thank you Andy, your reviews and kit builds are a delight and help me through the lock down, over here in the UK. Keep safe and keep on buggering on!
Amazing model!!! Only I think the old planes more beautiful than today?
No sir. I think the old piston engine aircraft were much more eye appealing than the jet age ones.
The early jet aircraft like the hunter, Canberra and F-86 are beautiful. There’s fugly aircraft from any era though🤪 stay safe mate🍺🍺🍺
Modern aircrafts are "designed" by aerodynamics and radar profile not by human with the pencil.
They Look more Like heavy engine power controlled by true men will and not Like arrows with rocket engines and autopilot

Nice job. I wish I lived closer to your store. North Carolina is a long drive.

Thank you for these videos. Makes life a little easier to handle these days.
A nice looking kit, good to see that they’ve addressed the flat spot at bulkhead 3. 👏👏👏
Thanks Andy...looks good mate👍✈️🇳🇿
Thank you for showing the kit! I fly as a copilot on one and would like to build a late model one with the Cheyenne tail.
Great review Andy !!!

Thank you Andy I was asking for you to build a b17 don't know if it was on my old account or this one but it looks great please build it
Thanks Andy...sweet kit. Built the Revell myself. Glad to have a new option. Be safe buddy.
Thanks for keeping all these coming Andy ! Stay safe !

You may want to check his channel. He ended up shelving it and switching to the beautiful Tamiya P-47M.
I have the old Revell B-17G that I want to build for a buddy that rode in the 909 a few years ago. I might have to replace that kit with this one.

Hello Andy, this looks like a great build of a great aircraft, but can you tell me if you know why there never seems to be any crew figures for any aircraft model these days, it is really baffling, Lee.
Most people bin them (but an aftermarket kit of figures would be good for those that like them 👍)

Looks like a nice kit, but I am satisfied with the good old Monogram kit.
Please could you do a build and paint video of this kit.
Can't wait for the build video
Thanks Andy - gonna have to build this.
Another brilliant video Thankyou Andy. Can I ask a question please, I've been out of modelling for a few years, still got all my kit tho and I'm interested in picking up a reasonable priced 1/35 armour set. Anything that you could recommend to get me started again please
Something from Tamiya they have good value for money and they are easy to build but also detailed

Check out Doogs Models on UA-cam. Did a build series then shelved it over his frustration at multiple issues with fit and more.
@@djmora127 Thanks for the heads up. Does look rather fiddly. Always good to see kits being built.
The old Monogram kit was one of my all time favorites as a kid in the 70s. I loved Monogram. I was not a fan of the old Revell kits of the period.
Thank you Andy for the review it was keep up the good video's you great Job
If someone got creative, it looks like the engine pod is large enough to install 4 small motors to turn the propellers. Just a thought when I saw the model.
I hope HK does a 1/48 B-17E/F because the old Revell 1/48 kit is very dated .
Olive drab is the way to go, good luck.
Andy, greetings from Japan. And it's pronounced TA-mi-ya. :)
Benmore Peak he said it right tho

Anthony jimenez Everyone but the Japanese. xD
Anthony jimenez I’d love to visit Japan one day👍 Hokkaido looks awesome.
Looks really cool Andy!!
Love the B-17G and love your channel greeting from holland Ninja jedi master
Andy, I hope you work out the shipping. I wanted to order Tamiya paint from you and one bottle came out to $13 !
Would be very nice to find a early model B-17 like the A...B...C...models
This is one point that puzzles me as well. Why go to the trouble of fine detailing things that can't be seen once the model is assembled - ?
But if that's what floats your boat - !
So Eduard can sell a $300.00 interior detail set. 😛
Alleluia!!!
Great job! As always.
Marko from Slovenia, EU
That reminds me, I have a 1/48 B-17G Monogram that I need to put together.
That will complement the Tamiya FLAK 37/38 I just finished.
Airfix are releasing a 1/24 version of B/17F
Hey everybody I have the 1/32 scale kit and it is beautiful my only disappointment was all of the machine guns barrels did not look right very large sink marks in the actual gun and a ton of push pin marks most where you could not see them after Construction
