I am almost 60 and going blind from diabetes. I have been building models all my life. I love watching your build videos! It allows me to participate without actually doing it!
I’m late on buying this, but man this Matches all them tanks, trucks, and halftracks that I’ve built. I’ve only built planes because they were found at very low prices. I have this old ass Black Widow kit, a B17, and A Ju 88 Dragon Kit…all 1/48…I think combined I paid 25 for all of them. 10, 10, and the Black Widow was part of a stack of models/accessories I got for 40. Now, I’ll buy these new, all new options. Loving 1/35 aircraft
The more I see of this kit, the more I want to build it. and I'm just not an airplane modeler. I see a few really cool diorama/display ideas that this kit could fit right into.
Hi Andy, thank you again for another great video. I am more of a aircraft builder rather than armour, but find your videos very informative. Thank you for your hints and tips on progressing my model making ability.
Fantastic job, as usual! I saw a BF-109 at the AIr Force Museum (and many, many other warbirds) and was surprised by how small they actually are in real life. I saw them as huge in my imagination but in reality the term "kite" sums it up nicely. Even the F-4 Phantom, which in my mind is huge, wasn't as big as I was expecting. Perhaps the camera angle?
I too was surprised at how small a BF-109 is. I first saw one at the Tillamook Air Museum in Oregon. The museum is housed in a WW II Navy blimp hanger, so not only are the planes interesting, the building itself is pretty spectacular.
Hi Andy grest to see you back on screen, the 109 looks as if it will turn into a great lookinging build, I can't wait for part two, keep safe and well, best regards from a Kiwi living in Australia
Gonna start my own version of the 1/350 Ranger you built a few years ago. While I might attempt the complex dazzle paint scheme, I just would substitute dark sea blue for deck blue, which is pretty hard to find. Or I might go with a simple haze gray pre-war scheme with a natural flight deck. Or even another of Ranger's wartime schemes of flat sea blue and haze gray.
Love you Andy! You are a very good modeler as well as a UA-camr and businessman! Awesome. Love your vids. Nice to see a beautiful cockpit pilot figure included in the kit. Woukd like to see more of those as I have transitioned to building a lot of aircraft models gear-up. Most planes just look better in their natural element... Now for some new and innovative stands for model aircraft displayed with gear up. =)
Hopefully Eduard and/or HGW are working on fabric seatbelts and Eduard is working on a LOOK instrument panel. Other than the disappointing IP and lack of seat belts this looks like a cool dio subject.
Nicely done. Do you notice any differences due to the slightly smaller scale? The lack of decals for the control panel is worrisome. Not sure I have the skill or patience to paint the dials myself.
Looks good, the paint is actually a Maybach dark grey...it has aluminum in it and looks like metallic. They did it so they didn't trap heat inside the engine like normal paint does. No dash decals? Well, canceling my preorder.
I have a question, how can the guns stick behind the prop, but not hit it? Is there a mechanism that the gun just shoots when the prop blade is not infront of it?
It occoured to me when Andy was talking about certain colors that some of these things have been lost to history. Some equipment we just aren't sure what color they were or how certain things were assembled because the records were lost/destroyed decades ago. Kind of sad.
Just a comment for the algorithm. And a quick question. I just started getting into larger scale models and was wondering. Is the difference between 1/32 and 35 noticeable enough that 35 figures would look out of place next to a 32 aircraft?
Has anyone ever figured out where the heck the 30mm engine block Cannon ejected from? ... there are usually holes on the wings for ejection ports. But like.. with the German planes I never see ejection ports for the nose guns. No way they just build up in the engine bay
Border surely has to improve the way they work the details out... They have nice kits, but they fall behind on those little details they keep forgetting. I've bought the T-34/76 Special Edition after I have watched your video about it, and it has some issues they could have easily solved. For instance, they have included an instructions correction sheet - which means they are indeed worried about doing things the correct way - but even the correction sheet is wrong! To give an example, they show that two out of eight turret armor supports have to be changed in position, but actually six out of the eight are misplaced, and even the two they have indicated to be replaced are in the wrong position on both the original intructions AND on the correction sheet! Not to mention their poor understanding of what "full turret interior" really means... They could have used the time spent on getting such intrincate but useless cannon assembly much better if they had worked more on the fitting and alignment of the cannon... That is specially annoying considering the fact that, in general, the fit is pretty good. Anyway, waiting to see the remaining of your building before deciding to go for it on not. Cheers from Brazil!
By the middle of 1944 I doubt the Germans were painting anything that didn't absolutely need painting. I get the exhaust would have been easier assembling back to front instead of front to back.
Hey Andy, I just found some instrument decals specifically for this model Am I allowed to put an eBay link? if no the product is called: Galaxy G35032 1/35 Messerschmitt Bf109 G-6 Instrument Decal for Border BF-001 you can just copy and paste this in eBay and it should come up. I just ordered one for mine.

I agree with Ralph, excellent job Andy!
Super duper detail job.
Dear Andy . I watch a lot of modelling cockpits but you seem to make it look effortless . Thank You .
Many thanks!
Who ever said you are a medi -yoka builder. Nice work Andy. I learned a lot from your video's.
That engine looks like a kit in itself. Love your videos.
Thanks 👍
Ah the finger brush. Have been using that since I was a wee boy. Lol. Good job Andy! 🇨🇦
Good idea/tip.
Very nice, great video Andy!! 🙂👌😉👍
Finish looks amazing , thank you doing these videos I take so much from them 🏴🏴🏴
Good shit Andy 👍🏻
A Work of Art In It's Self Andy 🤗🤗, thanks For Sharing n Have a Blessed Wknd.
I'm not sure I'd have the heart to cover those lovely Engine, Propeller Hub and Cannon details.
Yeah, I might go with the clear engine covers.
Amazing build as always, Andy!
Great video keep it up love the model’s
Glad you like them!
Looking forward to the completion of this one. I'm also building it! ;)
This is the 1st me109 model I have seen that has the 20mm cannon. Plug wires are also nicely done.
Nice job Andy! It’ll be a shame to cover this up, but I can’t wait for the exterior!
I think this kit comes with an optional transparent engine cover.
@@gerdogstenc2534 That’s a helpful feature, I hope Andy uses it.

Very nicely done Andy, looking forward to the rest of the build.
Eduard, and others, are now making vinyl 3D decals for instrument panels.
This is 1/35 scale, kit, so it is kinda unique, unless You crop bigger 1/32 decal. Shame on BM for such omission.
Vinyl 3d decals? What's a 3d decal? I'm intrigued.

Borders 1/35th scale !!!
Awesome Andy!!!
This is great diorama ideas and fun things to do with this ME109 sweet Andy
Well done!!!!

Very nice work buddy 👍😍
Looks great..i hope other manufacturers think about 1/35 scale...I've always thought it was strange having 1/32 planes and 1/35 tanks..
THANKS FOR TELLING ME HOW KLD I AM WE DIDENT HAVE METALLIC PAINTS BACK THEN THATS WHY ONE COLOUR THEN .

Now the real question is: are you going to post more videos about this project?
looked pretty morbid at the end, lol. I hope someone makes aftermarket parts for this but I am looking forward to getting it either way.
Which brush were you using for the tiny detail painting on the metal parts of the engine?
Andy, send that pilot figure to me....I'll paint it up for you
And now I know where they located the receiver of that cannon.
what was that paint brush you used on the metal effects on the engine block?
I have a question, how can the guns stick behind the prop, but not hit it? Is there a mechanism that the gun just shoots when the prop blade is not infront of it?
Yes, they were fitted with a gun timing mechanism that synchronised the firing of the guns with the blades.
@@Smoggy6681 ah thanks, quite interesting what already was possible back in the days...

They weren't ejected, both 20mm and 30mm shells were collected in the container in the belly of the aircraft to be reloaded.
@@travis_thompson sort of like the A10 then. Interesting. Thanks for the insight
Something tells me one of the 109s could drop the shell casings in an emergency to loose weight, although I could be wrong

It looks very difficult to maintain that axial machine cannon (MG 151/20?), poor ground crew.
no no ! thank you
I'm a huge fan of Border models but the lack of decals for stencils and the IP is disappointing, being 35th there's no ready alternative.
Right Im trying to find something else to use
