    I am sitting here with a Lenox tradesman, and it is not hollow ground. It is a high saber ground.
    Interesting test. An eBay seller had a used set of Milwaukee and Lennox knives with no sheaths, and I have had them a few days now.
    I did a lot of camping and hiking back in the 1960's and did all of that like 95 percent with a boy scout type pocketknife. An official one and when I lost that and continued on cheaper ones from Imperial and so on. I am 71 years-old now and I have never battoned a knife in my whole life and never saw anyone do that in real life. And I was always able to come up with wood for fires. Nor did I bring a hatchet with me.
    With the way I use knives during camping a Lenox knife is going to outlive me.
    It is nice test the Milwaukee one is more durable as I also have one of those, but I won't be buttoning that either.
    For those who don't know find a youtube vid on making a wooden wedge and watch how it/they can be used to split wood and save your knife.

      Battening is a relatively new thing. It’s not totally necessary. But sometimes it may be. When I go camping I like to baton my kindling. And it’s nice to know I can

      Still when camping with the boy scouts what part of the troop that came mostly used pocketknives. We simply gathered wood small enough to do our cooking on and got the job done. When my family went what I call car caping my parents brought a hatch with them. No hiking so no weight penalty to deal with. I still have the 2 hatches from when I was a kid but have kind of moved on to machetes. @@peterbiltknifeguy

    Interesting how those 2 knives that look very similar and could be easily mistaken for being made in the same factory, performed so differently. 🤔Thanks for this demonstration and Cheers!

    Mora got a big time American "ambassador" aka advertiser and YT cheerleader whos name I won't mention and the price started climbing, its that simple. That being said, pro robust or garberg is a better choice for extreme whackin. the forces involved in batoning into hardwood puts ungodly stress on a knife that is already being held in what amounts to a crafted vise once you get it so far in there. Its physics.

    • @peterbiltknifeguy
      @peterbiltknifeguy  Рік тому +1

      Oh yeah. Definitely better moras for harder use. But they are definitely not 15 dollars lol

    • @tikkidaddy
      @tikkidaddy Рік тому

      No sir, although the pro Robust is a hell of a sight closer😂 Mora also makes a knife for the company that makes the VERY popular folding pruning saw used by bushcrafters too, not Silky, the other one. When you buy that knife in combo with the saw they are cheaper 😂 but see I KNEW I might hammer on a Mora so I bought a thick boy right off. The Milwaukee is a knife you would buy to use if you were stuck in a motel room in one of those "No Country for Old Men" situations, don't care what happens if I use the hell out of it, probably gonna just toss it, easier to replace. Its the "I don't give a shit" knife. The Lennox is apparently a poop knife😂

      I think part of the issue is what was the Lenox knife designed to do. I doubt if it was what was done in the test. After seeing the test, I still would not hesitate to take a Lenox knife hiking or camping. I have seen more than one UA-cam vid on making wooden wedges to split wood. They work. It just takes time to make the wedges.@@peterbiltknifeguy

    Nice video. I didn't find any hrc numbers on this knife but it really appears to be far too soft. A v-edge shouldn't have that many rolls. This probably might be significantly below the 55 hrc mark. .

    Stop riding PBKGs ass over MORA. We all love em. Quit riding everybody about "recycled steel" . ALL steel is recycled, its one of the most recycled products on the planet. Keep in mind unless its LC200N, Vanax , or Magnacut it all rusts/corrodes, corrosion leads to weakness, leading to breakage with hard use. Knives corrode in places you can't see. Factories are making more and more sheathes and handles out of cheaper polymers, that will wear out faster, break and be embrittled and degraded by chemicals, friction, hard use, UV light, stress, you name it
