I think I'm gonna give the Extreme Rate mod a shot! I like the DualSense controller a lot, but I can't imagine playing the PS5 version of Final Fantasy VII Remake without having the two attack commands, square and triangle, mapped to the back buttons.

It's amazing I love it the Version 2 for the 010 and the 020 version is what I was waiting for. Can't remember the reddit user that helped but its a group effort on this one and it shows.
Favorite part is the button remapping saves even after powering off the unit.
I just wish they had different paddle options. And the buttons required a little more force to click. they click really easy...... too easy.

You can change the actuation force by tightening the screws a lil more according to the official tutorial video
That doesn't make any sense.
That would allow you to take up any slack in the button actuation, but the click force is a function of the properties of the button themselves. Tightening the screws won't change the click force of the controller

Just installed the ps5 extream rate and so far I love it. I just hope this doesn't have the same issue I had with my strike packs. My problem with the strike pack I was using (for paddles only) was after about 3 months the left paddle would glitch out and not register every 3rd or 4th click. Slide canceling & double jumping in rocket league killed them quick. After 3 strike packs within 9 months all having the same exact problem and customer support basically telling me they're defective I couldn't justify ever getting another one. There's got to be an issue internally or manufacturer defect because that's not normal wear and tear.
Certainly hope you're not using strikes packs for online games

Bros let me just say, I switched so easily to the ps5 back buttons. They still preform amazing & when your not a BOT that recoil bullsht is way more of a hindrance than it helps.
I had the same issues with strikepacks… went through multiple within a span of about the same time 9months.. I bought the Astro c40 which was great but unfortunately not compatible with the ps5 for whatever reason. Now I’m going to try these out before committing to the new Sony controller
Just an update on this, there are a variety of new backplates for the extremerate kit including textured and rubbererised (if thats a word) grippy surfaces.
Yes. They are part of the version 2 units.

I think the back texture is the way to go
I have one with texture and just want to warn you that it's still a little slippery, dunno why but it is. You'll get used to it but I guess it's still better with than without 👍
@@Ruben-jf8jn Thanks for weighing in on this. I think it will help, but totally understand that it would still be slippy. That plastic is really smooth. So even with the texture its like a 'smooth' texture.

i’ve had the back buttons for a few months now no complaints so far works great for fps games.
I went back and tried the back button again, but I also added clicky face buttons. That was a game changer for me.
I'm still not impressed with how easy the back button click. And the paddles are too short

Can you map buttons like circle x triangle square?
Yes. You can map pretty much any button you want to the back buttons
You can't change the real buttons to something else though, if that's what you're asking
Is there a model at the moment that includes the R3 & L3 buttons mapping? Thanks for your video
I know this is late but yes, you just have to include some soldering to map those.

Hey I installed this to my ps5 controller and it worked for a few seconds but now just flashes orange twice and turns off, I’ve tried a lot of fixed but nothing works any help??

Yes. The 2.0 version is nicer with the rear grip
I think the one I got was extra slippy due to the design.
The flat black back isn't as slippy either

I actually own this PS5 controller with extreme rate modification. I purchased it from GT Canada last week and have used it for the past 3 days. It’s amazing. The responsiveness is perfect, the placement of back buttons for me is exactly where I need them to be and very similar to the PS4 controller with PS back button. If you like the PS4 and back button controller placement then you will also like this extreme rate mod on the PS5 controller. The back plate can be a bit slippery being it’s smooth and not textured, however I always wipe my hands down when needed and does not affect playability. Mapping buttons is as easy as posted and work perfectly. You definitely don’t need to click hard. I’ve mapped my right back button to be TRIANGLE and the left back button as X. I’m very happy with this product and major shout outs to GT Canada for providing me this controller.

Im planning to rock the PS4 controller as long as possible. I just am too used to it to want to switch.
My game got a lot worse when I tried the PS5 controller. Switching back felt so natural.
At some point Ill have to make the transition. Glad you're enjoying the controller for now though! and thanks for stopping by the channel
Can you use your ring finger to press the paddles?
On the Strike Pack I use my ring finger to press them, however these ones are easier to press with your middle finger.

extreme Rise 2.0 Kit has much better buttons FYI, less prone to accidental clicks AND they have grips, highly recommend!
I didn't catch the bit about firmer click buttons. Ill check that out. I may have to get a kit and upgrade mine for testing.

Yes. It mimics a button push on the regular buttons. So the pc wouldn't know there was a back button or not

Last time I did this my controller started to get input lag after a few weeks, you notice anything yet?
I didnt notice any input lag issues. In theory this should work the same as the first install.
did you run bluetooth pairing to console or wired?
I Beleive the ps5 controller only communicates through Bluetooth. Even if you tell it to communicate over USB. It will only charge the controller.
@@GearsAndTech just looked as of right now and 'USE USB Cable' is working when the cable is in but when removed, controller disconnects when unplugs but re connects bluetooth when repowered until cable is plugged back in. But as for the latency issue i am just assuming bluetooth interference if it does it again just reset it and verify controller software is up to date but also placement of the extremerate now has me curious it covers the reset button correct?
