100% this! There is no excuse to not have the system wide deadzone adjustment available for the regular controllers. Replaceable sticks is a positive but considering the price of the Edge (and the sticks themselves) you'd have to wear out something like 4 stick modules before you'd actually start saving money, and by that time other parts of the controller would probably start giving you problems. I'm keeping my hopes up for third party hall effect based sticks for this controller.
One improvement I've noticed that the Edge has over the Dualsense is that the area where you rest your pinky has been rounded compared to being more angular/pointy on the original controller. I've seen a few people complain about that on the Dualsense because it would jab into your fingers causing fatigue.
The chance of the cable falling out is pretty low with modern usb cables but it’s a nice touch. Improving the battery should’ve been more of a priority

Been waiting for mine to ship. Can’t wait to finally get a Sony Pro controller. Finally a quality one and not a Scuf or Astro. It is pricey but 100% worth it given what all you get with it and the quality.
This could actually be really cool with games like Skyrim. You could create a new profile that has no deadzone and just walk around instead of having to slightly edge the analog stick upwards just to walk Unlike PC, console has no toggle walk button in games and thumbs get tired needing to be in an awkward position.
My biggest fear is with the changeable analog sticks. The astro c40’s had the same feature and those were even more prone to stick drift and needed to be changed more often in my experience. Hope this isn’t the same
It for sure will be the case. Companies have no incentive to fix drift when the majority of people accept it at this point as a "it will happen eventually". Now that it's established, it's time for them to move to the next phase of disposable/replaceable components the user has to replace
Waiting on mine to arrive (With delivery driver now) Super excited for this with Call of Duty and Destiny. Definitely feel the benefits will be substantial, the interface is impeccable. Not worried about battery life as I'm going to just hard wire it
They didn't forget, they made the battery smaller to make room for more tech. It's a pro controller. Pros play wired for the lowest possible latency, so it's fine for the intended use.

Looks cool, and the replacement sticks gives peace of mind. But what about the L2/R2 triggers, that rubber membrane is the single thing thats not stood the test of time on all my DS4 controllers, haven't had my PS5 long enough yet to see if its different but wouldn't this mean a tear apart?

If you are a PC gamer and don't own a PS5, don't bother getting this. You cannot access any of the features, including remapping. There is no system or software in place to changing anything.
Will either knock the controller out of your hand or knock your PS5 console over potentially causing damage but its OK the wire will still be firmly in place on the controller 🤣

Call me crazy but Nintendo Switch Pro Controller is the best controller out there because it has a long battery life, feels comfortable, and works great BUT most importantly you can whale on the thing and not have to worry about breaking a $200 controller

While this controller is definitely packed with features, it is simply not worth the price considering it is still prone to drifting. In Canada, this thing costs 270$. It just doesn't make any sense when you could buy 3 regular controllers at that price.
The stick modules are 20 dollars a piece plus 5 dollars shopping. To replace both sticks is gonna be $45. That's insane sony. The components seem quality and reinforced, and you're probably recouping the cost of rnd on the joysticks, but it's still way too expensive. Hope they drop the prices after they recoup the cost for the new tech

It comes with a 1 year warranty. The battery is a shame but replacing battery won’t be hard. I’ve done on original dual sense. Also this is still way cheaper than other pro controllers I’ve bought.

Assuming there will be some variance to the battery life with haptics on vs off etc. but it does seem disappointing only having 5ish hours for a 200$ product.
It also comes with a cable.. standard building codes should dictate a plug nearby anywhere you decide to play. This shouldn't be an issue. You aren't taking it on a cross-country flight.
Perhaps the cost to improve the battery would have forced a price increase and they wanted to keep the cost at/under $200. Still as a pro controller, the target audience is going to keep it plugged in.

Battery life is surprising, my normal dual sense controller lasts 10-12 hours on a charge.

Many 3rd party pro controllers do cost this much. Scuf controllers for PS5 start at $199 USD and can do as high as $260. Victrix is cheaper at $179

the replacable sticks is the big selling point for me. My big paws + Destiny 2 has crushed about 5 controllers in 2 years.

It’s disappointing that Sony hasn’t figured out battery life like Xbox. The fact that the Edge has a worse battery life than the regular controller makes this hard to justify the purchase.

$200 is average price for a Pro controller. It's $20 more than the Elite Series 2, but cheaper than Scuf, and Battle Beaver.

Assuming there will be some variance to the battery life with haptics on vs off etc. but it does seem disappointing only having 5ish hours for a 200$ product.
It also comes with a cable.. standard building codes should dictate a plug nearby anywhere you decide to play. This shouldn't be an issue. You aren't taking it on a cross-country flight.

on the edge of buying this, just 2 disappointment: short battery life and only 2 back buttons. price could be a little cheaper too.
Perhaps the cost to improve the battery would have forced a price increase and they wanted to keep the cost at/under $200. Still as a pro controller, the target audience is going to keep it plugged in.
Buying this specifically to have a counter against stick drift.
