I've got a small spiral notebook that my Grandmother was given for a wedding present. Its pages are filled with recipes from her older families and friends. Mind you, some of these ladies were daughters of Confederate Veterans! My favorite is one for Pecan pie. It calls for a "nickles worth" of pecans. To me, it's a priceless family treasure!

Linda, I’m 73, live alone, and have my own recipes. I rarely cook anymore, as it’s hard for one person. I do really enjoy following your home renovation and decorating.

Hi Sherry . .. I'm just wanting to share with you what a lady that was 91 shared with me years ago...she said cook for yourself if it is too much all the better you'll have leftovers and or freeze portions for days you don't feel like cooking. I've never forgotten that advice and I've always done it even when the family was still home. She made home made noodles they were so good..she taught me to make them too .hope this is an encouragement .❤

Linda, that’s what I love about you and that is that we are truly kindred spirits. I love love love to thrift and antique shop. My home like yours is 90% thrifted. I love when I have something that I had since I was young and it was a cheap item because that’s what I could afford and now I am replacing all the cheap things with better quality from the thrift store or the antique store. I also at 58 years old get what I want. My motto is you may as well buy what you want and enjoy it because you can’t take it with you and young adults of today don’t seem to cherish their parents treasures like I did/do. Thanks for sharing!❤❤❤

I have a recipe that has a shallot sautéed in butter and cooled. Then I add it to the mashed egg yolk with mayonnaise, sour cream, salt and cayenne pepper. After piping the filling into the white part of the egg I use finely chopped chives and grated lemon zest on top. Colorful and delish.

I love Frick and Frack! Just looked up the origin of the words/names. Frick is the name of a small village in Switzerland; Frack is a Swiss-German word for a frock coat. Also Frick and Frack were a comedic ice skating duo who went to the US in 1937 and joined the original Ice Follies show. I have a canvas tote filled with the same info you described along with a handy tape measure. I enjoy thrifting and consignment shopping because it's fun and you never know what you're going to find. My Miss Pierce reigns supreme over the buffet in my dining room. Thanks for the info you shared today, Linda. Have a nice day.

I just made those eggs-except l cut a light zig zag around the edges! 🐥
My husband and l have been in the antiques business for over 40 years. It's very smart to keep a notebook with you-measurements, fabric swatches, stain, paint colors...and don't forget those important doorway measurements!

I do the same recipe as yours except I add a tablespoon soft cream cheese and 2 tablespoons sweet pickle relish. I make 4 dozen for church gatherings and there’s not one left. oh Linda! you just look so fantastic. So springy!!! I vote for the corn chowder and the broccoli soup. I love old recipes. I have my mom's old file box with her hand written recipes. it makes me happy to see her handwriting. Now, my pup Nevin's wants to know how much Willa gets paid to supervise you. lol! I love seeing her in the videos. And normally when watching i have either Nevins my Bichon or Wilbur my Newfoundland sitting near me watching with me. So Nevins thinks he should be paid. haha! Hope you enjoy this spring like weather. I like you am itching to get outside!

So true about measuring doorways- Several years ago I moved a refrigerator into my mudroom as an overflow fridge for the veggies being harvested from my garden; once they were eaten or processed (canned/frozen) the fridge became the 'drinks' fridge. But my mudroom doorway was too small!!! I ended up taking off all the trim and widening the doorway to get the fridge in. Luckily I can do carpentry- I've had to make many improvements to this circa 1959 house.

Pretty in pink! Love the idea of the design book. That's a very good idea. Those "don't stand up eggs," maybe taking a small slice off the bottom to provide a flat surface, or egg cups? But you know that. That was a really cute idea. Willow is in her spot and all is good in the world, at least in her world. Hermits or apple cake is my request. Thanks for your solid advise!

Love how you got all your mom’s recipes. When my mom passed I have her recipe box & have used many of her recipes. The funny thing in watching you list your moms today was I have all of those from my mom except the poppy seed dressing. Maybe because my family is also from Nova Scotia which I believe you said yours are also.
I make the hermits every year for xmas and corn chowder once a month. Strawberry pie made with jello strawberries ice cream & cool whip in a crust for summer parties. I have my own version n broccoli cheddar soup but would vote for you to video that one!

The bottle is very nice, I would reuse it for sure! My mother in law always said oleo and used it in her baking recipes. She passed a few years ago at 92 years old and was still baking with oleo. My daughter in law made chick eggs one Easter and she said they were a lot of work! Such patience you have. I usually add some horseradish to my deviled eggs, makes them devilish. Yours are so cute. Thank you for your thrifting hints, let the hunt begin!

Corn chowder is my pick ,I am interested in the cotton seed oil ,I have never seen it for sale ,my mother was an excellent cook and she never used it and 3rd I am from the South and you would think it would be common. I make poppy seed dressing but just use a neutral oil. In my area we don’t have good thrift stores, they are basically junk stores,we do have plenty of Antique stores and estate sells and I am using the word estate loosely but some are wonderful. Thanks for sharing,I always appreciate the work you put into your videos 🌿🍃

Love this video surprise today! My family calls me the "resale shop queen." 😂 Almost everything in my home is either handed down or thrifted. The most valuable lesson I've learned, which took a few times, is if you really like it, get it. Have had my heart broken a few times b/c I didn't pull the trigger and get it. I have a vision binder and you've inspired me to put one in the car. I have a suspicion that there will be a whole lot of deviled chicks on tables this Easter! I vote for Corn Chowder and Broccoli Soup Recipes! Have a wonderful day!

My deviled eggs recipe always gets rave reviews. 8 eggs, tsp. yellow mustard, 4 heaping spoons of Mt. Olive sweet cube relish, a little cayene pepper, half tsp. or so of nutmeg, a little Duke's or Heilman mayonnaise to bind. Sprinkle with paprika for color after filling the white portions. The nutmeg secret is the magic taste surprise. I honestly don't measure when making these...my PA Dutch grandmother taught me to " taste as you go", which becomes crucial when adding the nutmeg.

A bit off topic, but would you consider making a video about styles of wall molding and what works well, and in which rooms, in a traditional home?

When yen make the chicks next time cut a small slice at the bottom of the egg to flatten the egg so that they stand upright. The recipe that I would like to see you make would be the apple cake. It was great to see you had a video today, I loved it.

Hi Linda, currently watching your latest video! My vote for your Mom's recipe is - Corn Chower!
I have already purchased your vanilla. Love that it comes in a velvet pouch to keep the light away. Looking forward to baking with it!
    You are the best!

Fresh apple cake, broccoli soup, and stovetop bread pudding. I have a n old cookbook of my grandmother's that I never cook with, but keep it because it is full of her notes in her handwriting.
