Top 10 Flying Boats and New Hydrofoil Inventions that Can Hover Over Water
Вставка
- Опубліковано 5 лип 2024
- Hydrofoils are typically fast speed watercraft that utilize underwater wings to rise above the surface, decreasing the drag and allowing to reach higher speeds. This technology has been in development since the end of the 19th century, but due to the complexity of construction and high price, its popularity has been on the steady decline since peaking in 1970.
However, we have been noticing a recent trend within the personal water transport, with many manufacturers turning back to the flying design! In this episode of Automotive Territory, let’s explore the newest and most impressive hydrofoil watercraft of today, that might still reshape the future of sea fairing!

The hydrofoil technology is making a great comeback. Here are some of the coolest new watercraft that use it. Which of the flying boats do you like the most?
Kormaran k7
Because know me, I could live on it
Thanks for your reply! Hope you get to own one of these hydrofoils some day

Thanks for this video. I fin these rather interesting.
Glad you like them! Which of these is your fave?
I just keep it with my Russian Volga Hydrofoil. 8,5x2,1Meter 140HP and 60Km/u(about 30Knots) and 6 persons.
Price from 5000- whatever you make of it :-)
You don’t control the direction of the efoil with the remote control , you control the speed . Direction changes with your body weight
Very informative video.👌👏
Glad you liked it! Which of these is your favorite?
Hydrofoils are great right up to the moment it hit a small object that rips a foil off and sends the boat rolling.
Can't argue, that indeed a possibility and the recent accident in Japan with a hydrofoil and a whale proves just that
@@automotiveterritory Have you got a link to some information on that accident?

Thank you for indicating speed of these jewels, in knots please, so as to compare it not to cars but to other boats (or aircraft..)
You are welcome. Check out my other videos about boats and aircraft
@@automotiveterritory I would have to say the Kormaran K7 was the favorite in my book!
It might be a bit of a problem putting some of these on a trailer...and the one with retractable hydroplanes? We never saw them retract did we?
Awesome
Which of these did you like the most?
how does these fliers fare in rough seas..?
Awesome tech... too many players.....but that fuels innovation... go buy one!
No mention of the Rodriquez FSH 37 ? Or the Hyperyacht really ?
I will check those out, thanks
If i win the lottery this is what i would buy, a electric hydrofoil boat
Great idea!
Wow I'm late!
I wish I was home schooled
It's all great. Glad to see you as usual. Which of the models did you like the most?
Lift efiol, it is very neat how it works and not like a full on boat
And has a price that is at least a little realistic for an average person ;)
@@automotiveterritory yeah, it's cheap compared to the others on this list!
Two of the boats looked like modern catamaran designs (including All American Marine and Kormaran), but claim hydrofoils in some way. Anyone know how?.
Do you have any video about yacht
Do you mean luxury yachts?

The perfect solution.
Which one do you like the most?
@@automotiveterritory I liked the model # 1Foiler.
You should get your nomenclature straight: A Flying Boat is an Airplane that can land in the water using its belly, as opposed to a Floatplane that is a landplane with floats mounted to operate from water. Typical flying boats are the PBY Catalina, Short Sunderland, B&V 222, Republic Seabee, Lake Buccaneer, Canadair 215 etc.

Hi there. I do know the difference. I put the flying part in quotes. Check out the legit video about flying boats and float planes

Sounds to me that the speeds listed should be in knots, not miles per hour?
I listed mph for the viewers non familiar with the nautical speed measurements. Knots are listed when possible in the specifications section on the screen
The conceptions are old-fashioned. There is potential to build much more efficient designs. These are just boats on skiis; you can do so much more. Are any boat builders interested in building fast vessels with 50% better energy efficiency?
is this style mainstream? why or y not?
What do you mean? Are you asking whether hydrofoil boats will make a comeback?
There’s no way that ones 41 feet
Which of the entries are you referring to?
Automotive Territory: Trending News & Car Reviews hydros hy41
41 feet is the size of the production model. In the video you are seeing a smaller prototype

Proof of concept. They are testing out a scaled down version first
We need hover/hydrofoil- to wig! Electric forge..t wait 10 years for batteries to improve they are hold the tech back on purpose.

Did you want to take one of these on a longer journey?

900 horse power to make a 23 foot boat go 44 miles per hour. Not impressed.
Do you want it to be bigger or faster?
With that kind of power a planing hull should do 80 mph. (210 constant) Go to vicprop.com and play with the calculator. I’ve used it a few times and it’s spot on if you filled out the blanks correctly.

I will check it out, thanks. Which of these models did you like the most though?
imagine being rich
Feels nice and sad at the same time
@@automotiveterritory lol why?
Cause it's just imagination)
bla bla bla
I looked up hydrofoil boats just out of curiosity. Honestly this is a lame gimmick. A fast boat is hardly in the water anyways, it's lifted up by the engines in the back. Hydrofoils cut too much water to be fast, and clearly struggle in choppy conditions so what's the point? Get a taller boat and you're already multiple feet out of the water. Also most of these things look lame to people who actually spend time using watercraft and boats.
Could the AI narration be any more annoying??????
why use a narrator with a weird accent. its annoying.
This technology makes NO SENSE. Too expensive and complicated, modern boats are much better.
True, but from an engineering perspective it is interesting. I believe that ground effect craft are a much better alternative then hydrofoils.
The ground effect craft are indeed very interesting machines. Hope we get to see a few new models in the future, besides those USSR prototypes
@@automotiveterritory agreed. I have seen a few videos of companies playing with ground effect crafts for island hopping in the Pacific but as far as I can tell it's only prototypes so far
