It truly is taxing being a self aware black guy but I find peace in myself by being an individual above everything. Being one of the "good ones" is probably the most passive aggressive shit I've been told in life. I know the cards are stacked against me and I know I hate some aspects about what comes with being black but I feel like the more I think about it the more I'll just hate myself even more. Being an individual first and black last has helped me beyond belief and I wish other black dudes find peace within themselves as well. This self hatred thing is very real amongst black guys and I wish more people spoke on this.

@@Nozoroth Not biracial but my parents never raised me in black culture either thank god. Its even worse for biracial people because you don't really fit in anywhere beyond that grey area. A lot of half black people I've met typically had some sort of identity issue since they aren't fully accepted by either race.

Idk the context in which you were told you are “one of the good ones”. But, I’ve had that exact phrase said to me by a white person (I’m white). My understanding of the phrase never had a racial significance. But, I’m sure it could depending on context.

Imma talk for the other side, cause I hear way too much of some of you guys' opinions on the Internet.
I'm fully black(American), dark skin, in poverty, the whole 9. My only real difference is that I'm not from a major city (10,000 pop. Town). That, and the fact that I was surrounded by black people instead of whites, because my town has an over 50% black makeup. My upbringing really helped me feel comfortable in my skin. For my identity not to clash with my individualality.
I'm nerdy, I was the weird kid who was good at his books in school, also I'm only college age now btw. They were calling me school shooter and everything back in highschool (by the nerd kids too, ironically. The hood kids didn't mess with me by that time, probably because I had grown up on that side and they already knew what I was about, but still).
I definitely am not the model image for our people, that's for sure. Not that I cared. It didn't matter. I still felt and currently feel black. Cuz I found people just like me. Who look like me, talk like me, and laugh with me. Right in my little bumduck town in the middle of nowhere. That's y'all's problem. That's everybody's problem. The world's problem with black people.
Y'all are conditioned and don't even know it. Y'all blaming "black culture" is the biggest TRAVESTY, let's me know that y'all are cutoff. That's the media's portrayal of black culture. That's white people demonizing and bastardizing our culture, and disseminating for American consumption. It's poison and a lie, but it is a lie based in truth. An over-exaggeration, that's unfortunately becoming truth as screens takeover our realities.
I feel bad for you guys, because it's your fault you're mad at us. You can't know what you haven't been shown.
Just thought of a metaphor, it's ironic, a bit messed up, but it fits.
What you guys are, is like a child who's been raised by a single mother. She's told you stories about your father, but you still don't really know the guy. He comes around every now again, but never long enough for you to actually know him. Your whole world view of the guy is really shaped by your mother, and you end up hating your father or maybe being ashamed of him. Because deep down, that's how she feels.
Because that's how America feels or maybe at least white people. And that's no blame to them. I've got no hate for white people. I'm not one of those hotep/white people need to give us reparations/duck the police, type people you find on Twitter. I'm just calling it like I see it. The whole country needs therapy and we don't know what to do about it.

      - can't speak a language other than English unless you study it at school.
      - The food is terrible if it isn't African.
      - you either need to get dreads or braids to be considered black according to some dickheads that aren't even black.
      - Baby mama and deadbeat father culture is only getting worse
      - family values/morals are non existent 💀 again unless you got heavy African influence
Honestly all of these stuff are the reason i dont see myself in a relationship with a black woman.

Totally forgot about the language aspect. A lot of people learn the language of their home country from their family and knowing their roots. Thanks to slavery westernized blacks only know the language of their oppressors washing away their identity. This is a problem only black people face ( I guess Hispanics too because of Spanish)

This video is a 50/50 thing for me, in terms of the dating aspect it’s weird, average black men by all means can date but what’s considered ‘average’ for black is very different compared to any other race, in my experience I’m 182cm living in Spain (then Germany and currently UK) and I’m pretty decent looking, so when girls approach me they think that every black guy they ‘think’ they know or have dated is about my range or taller, more swag, more attractive etc. in short, you have to be either very tall or attractive with an average height to overcompensate because irl the bbc thing is absolutely a joke unless you’re already good in other aspects. Now in my day to day life, I’ve experienced girls from all races (yes including ‘our own’) say that they wouldn’t date a dark skin or darker skin guy but they can make an exception compared to purely lightskin dudes who are the default when it comes to black beauty, swagger, athleticism etc. Some sistas WILL give you some disdainful looks, I hate to say this, but if you’re looking to date or be in a relationship you almost HAVE to be a stereotype in some way, no way around it (unless you’re passportmaxxing)

Aye g, imma finna drop some hard to swallow knowledge to you. It's only difficult because of who WE are. I'm talking me and you. Not our race, but our personality. Being quiet and awkward and just SHY is our downfall. I'm just finishing up working a blue collar job I was working to get myself through college. I've been here for about 9 months or so. and my community is mostly black, so it's a lot of black dudes around, of all ages and sizes.
Listen to me, Everybody else gets play. EVERYBODY. Short, tall, ugly, handsome. Everybody BUT me. And it's really only because of one thing. I won't open my f'ing mouth. Thinking too much is our sin.
Call me conceited, but Imma say what I think. I'm tall(6'2), handsome, and I've got a decent sense of humor. I KNOW I should get play. I've got a template for it with a guy who I've grown-up with, who's honestly just me but better. Taller(6'4), older(by 2 years), more handsome, and most importantly, more outgoing. The only thing I've got over him is that I'm smarter. The guy has a roster of like 8 girls. This was also two months ago, before got his own car and was promoted at the job. I ain't got an exact number from him again, but he's told me his roster has gotten bigger just last week.
I say this, to impart upon you, the most irritating and profound knowledge. Just like they say, CLOSE MOUTHS DON'T GET FED. Think about your competition. They won't be silent. Girls constantly hit up by the same couple of idiots who will try everyone and anyone. You gotta speak up too.
Just talk to them G. No feelings, no nothing. It works. Just go out and laugh and talk. Things will work themselves out from there.

2:53 Growing up is realizing that slavery never ended in Africa most. At least in America there’s an opportunity try getting money when you live in a place like 🇧🇮.
And yeah the whole “not like other black guys” is odd, I’ve never been told it, but there was one time when I was in juvie a long time ago I’m 20 now, and the officers were asking us what we like to do they asked all of us and finally I came up, they asked me “what do you like to do” and I said “ i love growing plants” and all of them even the other inmates gave me that look, and I said I’m into botany, they all of sudden got confused and asked me, what’s that?, I said it’s the study of plants, and they all had that embarrassed look on their face.😂
Everytime now when my passion comes up I just say nothing, because people automatically assume I like growing weed it’s so dumb, personally weed taste and smells awful to me.
