Davie-thank you for letting me put this one in my box. tied up 10 last night and this morning. a very beautiful simple pattern.
You are truly enjoyable to watch.....your flies are so buggy and have that "fish catching " look. Keep the videos coming
Phil Taylor and Darts...Stephen Hendry and Snooker...Davie McPhail and FlyTying----each has contemporaries but I have witnessed no equal.
Davie I think the time has come to grace the world with "Davie McPhail's Variants".A book for the eye of artistry and the sense of a fish's desire.(Color Plates included).A price, worthy of kingdom.
You Sir are a MASTER and I am privledged to live in this era to witness your skills.
I Thank-you for that from deep in my soul.
Your Friend Tony George
The color scheme possibilities for this pattern make it a truly international fly. Can't wait to tie up a dozen with various body colors. As always, fantastic, Mr. McPhail.
I have been watching your videos for a while now . Thanks so much for teaching me how to tie a wide range of flies keep up this work.
Im a very new fly tier and this video was very well done. Thats saying something because not alot of people make themselves clear on how to really tie a fly. Keep making these awesome videos
Masterpiece!! The best emerger caddis imitation I ever saw.
Lovely fly, I tried this body dubbing and orange rib on a few Klinkhammers, catches a lot of fish just before dark, thanks for sharing👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

I really like that one ,feeling a bit punky from my 2nd vaccine, I think I'll tie a few of it. Looks fun and fishy. The ice is out here, streamer time but it won't be long ! Glad to see you up and about , been concerned since your positive test . You sound weary and wheezy , take it ez. "All the best" to you and thank you for teaching me. Chris
Love this video. Thank you for sharing your expertise so willingly.
My dogs run to the door every time that you stack hair. Thanks for posting BTW.
Cracking fly. Takes a lot of fish. Cheers Davie

Четкая мушка,на такую будет клевать даже там где нет рыбы
Machucáo las mansas moscas, son verdareramente pulentas. Te felicito and thank you
Thank you, Davie.
Do you add an egg sack and/or use lighter color deer hair when tying pattern to represent egg laying caddis, or spent caddis?
Best,
John
Да супер,Круть.
Hi Davie.
First I have to say it ,you are my fly tying guru .
Thank you for all this beautiful videos ,it's always pleasure to watch them .
Can you tell me where did you buy this clear nymph wrap?
Thanks again.
Adam
Hi Davie, great videos! I'm a huge fan! You're truly a master of the craft. I'm curious, what sort of camera do you use for such clear video up close? I would love to share some videos, but the quality is not up to my preference. Keep up the great work. Brian Wood, Buffalo, NY
Hi Davie,
What a great video on tying a sedge emerger. I have a sedge emerger of my own and it is a great taker of fish on both river and lough. Send me your address and I will send you a sample and the tying details. All the best for the moment and keep up the great work with the terrific videos.
Peter Dunne, Ireland.
Я в восторге мне все очень нравиться.Супер.
Love it have u ever fished it under a dry Caddis act as an indicator tks for the inspiration u truly are one the best out there ps best luck in your new venture with fulling mill
Hi Patrick,
You can easily use it as an indictor and fish a fly or two below and I have done this mostly with buzzer below...Thank you for the kind wishes and I do hope having Fulling Mill helping out will give me more time to improve my videos..
All the very best Davie
+Davie McPhail tks for the reply Davie can I ask do you fish this subsurface or do you gink it and fish it up top
Davie,
Great version of this deadly pattern. Could i also get the link for the sparton wrap. I tried there site but its not much for making orders. I am in the states.
Thank you
Johnny
I can't help but think that with a tail or trailing shuck that same pattern would make a dynamite mayfly emerger. Maybe shorten the wing.
Grand River Outfitting & Fly Shop +1
Davie another top fly pal and expertly demonstrated. I have been trying to put a link of your channel onto mine but can't see how to do it, any pointers?
BEST SIDE on you tube
Davey I was going to tie these up in a tan version for eastern pa. Should I stick with the brown thorax or go black
Hi Russell,
Brown would be my first choice though I do like black as well but you could mix the brown and black dubbing which would give you the best of both as I've done this many a time and it has mostly worked for me..
All the very best Davie
Hi Davie,
Is there any sub for Clear Nymph Wrap or Tinsel, or should i try w/o any will it work, since there is no any tying materials shop near my town. I think this pattern should be interesting for brown trouts we have in our rivers and streams. Sorry for my bad English. Your fan from Bosnia.
You make it look so easy.. but it's really not😄.
I've been tying flies for about a year now, and almost everything I know about fly tying I have learned from you and your videos.
Have you written/published a fly pattern book yet? If not I hope you let me know when you do.
Thank you,
-Tine (Norway)
Hi*****,
Maybe one day I'll get the chance to write a book of the flies I've tyed which would be a great reference to me as I am beginning to forget some of them....I'm glad you do enjoy the videos and that they have encouraged you to tye your own flies, keep working away and I may be buying your book some day...
All the very best Davie
THANKS FOR ANOTHER GREAT VIDEO OF A GREAT FLY
leonardh1956
Davie I'v looked every where for the clear Nymph wrap and can't find it and mean every where Help. as always all the best to you.
Davie. Can you show a video of the various feathers from the hen and cock pheasant that can be used. I know there are many. I just dressed 8 today. But being new to tying i would appreciate your advice .
Kindest regards
Gerry
Nice fly pattern! Thanks for the instruction. Just a little constructive feedback if I may...your instructions are a little hard to understand. And, it may be me to some extent. But, if you could enunciate a little more and slightly slower and higher audible, it may make for a little easier for your audience to understand. Thanks so much for the quality instruction. Cheers.
Hi Michael,
Thank you very much for your feedback, I know I need to improve though at times with work I struggle to get the time I would like to put into my videos as I mostly have to fund this myself..Sound has always been issue as I have always been let down with the quality of the microphones that I have bought though I'm saving for a new one...I'm glad that you liked the fly and thanks again...
All the very best Davie...
Any idea why the pro torch is not being allowed imported to us ? The original is some-what scarce also.
Capitally!!!
Davie,
I'm having a real time with this fly. It will not float for me. And I tend to get it weighted out of balance with the bug bond seeming to cause the head to be heavy. Even without bug bond, i find it sinks quickly.... what am i likely doing wrong?
Hi Michael,
I tye these flies for friends that fish in large lochs and they are part of a cast of three flies as this helps hold the fly on or close to the surface when fishing through the waves..I do tye them as well just to be fished as a single dry and I use an Elk hair though I would add a little bit more than I would use if I was tying an Elk Hair Caddis...
I hope this is of some help to you...
All the very best Davie
Hi Davie!
Will this pattern work on grayling?
im going to make me a album of all the flies i've been tying and working on grayling
