Hi Jason the saw I was referring to is a curved saw blade on a long handle that cuts on the pull stroke to cut the low branches . The long handle allows one to stand back to keep away from falling branches and sawdust and is better for your neck. The saw works very well on trees with a sturdy trunk and faster then a electric saw. The forest service does not want damage to the trees bark.Glad your happy with your saw seems to work well for what your doing

We like it so far... we have a manual pole saw with a long handle and a blade about 12" long. Is this the type of saw you use?

Reminds me I shall do the same in my trails!!! Will do that later today! I really like how this pole saw can be extended more or less. And converted to a hedge saw. I might consider that tool even though I already have a pole saw. Thanks!

We are in a heat wave now… trying to load and deliver wood in it! What type of pole saw do you currently have?

I do have the STIHL 56 C. It's gasoline and it's not the Combi system either. I wanted a pole saw being performant and dedicated to what it's meant for, not a versatile thing that does barely Okay. Looking at your video, I feel I made the wrong choice... Lol!

It was one of our main purchase this year as well, but went for Stihl kombi and also added a whipper sniper option. Wanted power to use metal cutter head for thick ferns and small spruce along the trail edges.

They look really good. I was impressed with the number of attachment you could buy for the power head!

I have the gas stihl pole saw with one extention used in my groves, but this looks to be a step forward no starting, fuel, noise, fumes and it stores well. With the elect. tools I use in the field for me it's easier to carry extra batteries than try to remote charge and wait for charging, My main problem is I am OCD with regards to PM and the darn Stihl will not wear out so maybe after this demo. I will just have to force retire my gas pole saw. Thanks for the field test. Ray Stormont

Stihl makes a good product that’s for sure. Something to be said though, to move away from small gas engines. In the right application, I’m sold on battery power!

thanks for the hands-on review. I enjoy doing trail maintenance and if ever you want to try another Dewalt tool, you should look into the Dewalt Pruner (Model # DCPR320D1). I really enjoy it. It is for low branches/shrubs but really gets the job done. Supposed to be good for 1100 cuts on 1 charge but never got to do that many in one go.

They look pretty neat Yves. Would be great for fruit trees and such!

I have the big Stihl gas pole saw. (gets heavy fast)Little hint, don’t cut anything near the ground and you will go forever not having to sharpen it. I couldn’t believe it. Wondered why it stayed sharp for so long then it hit me. It’s never close to dirt and rocks.

Makes sense! I was cutting some low stuff and as you say, I had to be pretty careful not to get pulled past what I was cutting and into the ground. Really impressed with this little unit so far!

Hi Jason: I use the Sthil Kombi gas powered system. They definitely get a lot debris in and around the sprocket compared to a chainsaw. I wear a forestry helmet whenever I’m using it. I definitely get hit with a lot of debris and branches, especially when you extend your reach. I have never used the harness with the pole saw. It doesn’t seem to serve any purpose with the pole saw. I’m definitely considering buying the battery powered Kombi unit and possibly a chainsaw to go with it. I’m definitely interested in seeing what you come up with for charging batteries in the field.

Thanks Richard, great feedback. Dad was quite close to buying the Stihl battery powered kombi and every attachment known to man until he tried to heft the pole saw…. He said it was too heavy. I’m going to get him on the end of the dewalt to see how he likes it!

Mine works well but leaks oil and will empty a full tank all over your garage and vehicle

Nice tool Jason. Some Battery power things sure work good.
Did it use much oil. Did you have to refill it.
    Have a great day.
I’m splitting wood with an axe today, Sunday afternoon fun. 🤔🤭

I didn't run out on that section of trail. Maybe used a third of the tank? We are getting some hot, muggy weather here this weekend. Got to get the work done first thing in the mornings! Take care, Jason
