- The Last of the Mohicans is a 1992 historical epic film set in 1757 during the French and Indian War. It was directed by Michael Mann and based on James Fenimore Cooper's classic novel, although it owes more to George B. Seitz's 1936 film adaptation than the source novel. The main cast includes Daniel Day-Lewis, Madeleine Stowe, Russell Means, Wes Studi, Eric Schweig and Jodhi May.
The soundtrack features music by Trevor Jones and Randy Edelman, and the song "I Will Find You" by Clannad. The film won an Academy Award for Sound. The main theme of the movie is taken from the tune "The Gael" by Scottish singer-songwriter Dougie MacLean.

The way he looks at her and smiles..that smiles says everything..no words needed. It can't get much more romantic than that.
Last of the Mohicans has been one of my favorite films since high school in the 90's and it still moves me to this day. Especially Moira Brennain's voice singing this song. Such beautiful capacities in her voice that moves the deep confines of my soul indeed!
💯% agree. I've always had a very strong and spiritual connection with American Indians and I remember when I was younger saying that I wanted to be an Indian when I grew up lols. When my soul departs this earth I want this song played at my funeral / crossing over gathering

Uncas was my favorite, the strong, silent type, big time. I'd jump, too, to follow him wherever he went.
Uncas was Alice's love.
I was 8 years old when I first watched this movie, and after all these years I still cry when I watch the last scene. .... For me, no recent film can not surpass this. Music and lyrics of this song is beautiful....

This is one of the BEST parts of this movie, it speaks so deep of their bond with this hauntingly beautiful song! It was in the original VHS version but sadly was excluded from the DVD version & I almost cried! I needed this part to remain!!! It was so romantic; we women KNOW of it's importance for our partner to be this hero that this song sings of!!!!
My thoughts exactly. Uncas and Alice deserved more screen time and at the very least a kiss ;) their tragic ending gets to me everytime...

I grew up in Walters Oklahoma and alot of my friends including me were American Indian . A lot of them were extras in the movie . We were in high school then . Love this movie .
And even though it was a stellar performance by Daniel Day Lewis... they still didn't use a native to play the main role... that's sad.
The main roles are the two Scottish girls. Munro's daughters. from wiki The novel is set primarily in the upper New York wilderness, detailing the transport of the two daughters of Colonel Munro, Alice and Cora, to a safe destination at Fort William Henry. Among the caravan guarding the women are the frontiersman Natty Bumppo, Major Duncan Heyward, and the Indians Chingachgook and Uncas, the former of whom is the novel's title character.
Because in the novel, Hawkeye (Nathaniel Bumppo) was a Caucasian boy raised by Delaware Natives.

It cannot be any better than this. What a film, what a song & how charismatic the music has been. Simply stunning & love them all.

There never has been nor will there ever be a revenge scene like this movie had. I've never felt such emotion! Pain, sadness, despair. Also, conviction, fearlessness, heart. Life is full of loss. We deal with it in our own ways. There is nothing else we can do.
One of my favourite movies and to this day I still cant watch the last scene where Uncas gets killed. I find it too sad.

beautiful song, beautiful video, beautiful film. everything about it, the actors, the time period it was made, the cinematography, the way it almost plays out as sweeping musical as much as a film, the locations, the lack of modern green screen, just everything about it couldnt have been more perfect. im so happy this film was made when it was, with who it was and how it was. And no song could ever possibly more perfectly encompass everything about it. As i said before. Just timeless.
Ever since I saw the movie years ago, this song has always been in my mind, I only just heard it again for the first time in years. Still a powerful song. Definitely not going to forget this song any time soon.
Amen to that. You only know how much it hurts when you lose someone you love...but you find out how strong you are when you have the power to find that love again. A soldier must never say "die"...and never surrender...in love and in war!
Irish and Native Americans make the Best music . Both their music really speaks to the heart and makes you emotional. Im a 37 year old retired soldier and this makes me emotional and makes me think of what i've seen and did while on peacekeeping missions with the Un.
VERY well done! I will never tire of this movie; it's one of the first ones I reach for when I need a good cry. I'm with the camp that chooses to see it as hopeful, though..."I will find you. If it takes five lifetimes, ten, a thousand years, I WILL find you again." Such a beautiful message. I only have one regret about the movie: Alice and Uncas never really get a big moment together. I mean, come on, Cora and Nathaniel get their fireside kiss, why not those two? I would have felt better.
A piece of theatrical History and muscial excellence, with the Directional Magic of Michael Mann. What can I say? A Masterpiece!

Fantastic video to this beautiful song. I have watched it many times, and it still makes me cry like a baby! The music, and the clips that are edited with it from this awesome movie...it's magical! It gets the essence of the love story, and tragedy of love for that time, all in a short few minutes!

Always loved this movie (and the book).....and Clannad. And now my son is 23 and loves the movie to no end too....he's quite the Daniel Day Lewis fan. And next month, after 2 years delay because of covid, we will see Clannad on their farewell tour together. Just last sunday I found the only missing Clannad cd at a cd/record fair....complete discography now.
Haven't yet come across a movie to rival this wee masterpiece. Just perfect.
