    Great tour, Jordan. I think you should have mentioned the woman that made it all possible, Julia Morgan, Hearst's architect. She was one of the most accomplished architects of the era and designed several buildings for Hearst including the Casa Grande. She was somewhat of a mysterious figure who never drew attention to herself but mastered her craft like few had done before her.

      I have a friend that lives in a Morgan designed home, she can be a bit snippy about it at times.

    My parents took me here when I was just a teenager and had not one ounce of understanding behind the man, the culture, the art, the decoration, and everything. Even still, it blew my 13 year old mind when I saw this place in person. I was just awe inspired. It led me down a path of architecture and design and 22 years later, it is my career! Thank you Hearst Castle for being such a core memory of my childhood.

      Been to Hearst Castle twice, in the 80's, and loved every minute! The blue swimming pool, under the tennis courts, with cobalt blue tiles and real gold were my favorite! Swimming in that pool would be on my bucket list if it were possible. 😄👏👌🏊‍♀️

      +Michelle C it's all funded by the visitors. He said California gives them very little, so the visitors admission of $25 per tour is what keeps it open and keeps it maintained.. one of my favorite places to visit. I definitely think everyone should see it

    Randolph was the Ludwig of Bavaria, castle maker. A fantasy place to call home and entertain. Then death came along and that was it. Both places are visited by millions today on both sides of the world. All their wealth and success, couldn't keep them alive for another day.

    Wow! That was incredible. Those so-called plain sides of the castle sure looked ornate for being unfinished. The guy paid attention to every minute detail. The foliage alone around the walk-ways-- crazy! It is hard to even get the idea of just how huge the place is. This was quite the treat. Thanks so much. Trips back will certainly be just as enjoyable. The great thing is that it is now open for the public to enjoy. Everywhere you looked-- there was an antiquity of some sort

    I'm so glad you did Hearst Castle. This place is one of California's hidden gems. If you're not from here you would never know it exists and if you are from here you still might not know it exists. I have been on all the tours and rumors have it that during Halloween there are other tours of rooms that aren't opened up the rest of the year. I just love this place.
    Oh, you also have to have a proper Hearst Burger while you're up there if you don't you're just missing out on a part of the whole experience.
    P.S. One never turns down an invitation from a Hearst even to this day.

      @MsMesem 6 років тому

      Yes, the paved areas and steps seem to overwhelm the landscape. The paths with trees and shrubs bordering them look much more inviting. The statuary is diverse, its fine as long as there is enough planting to soften it all and provide background.

    😇💙 Hi Jordan, Thank YOU for the tour of Hurst Castle.🤗
    I was either 17 or 18 years old, and my Mom and my two siblings, went to Hurst Castle, in the late seventies, but I didn't go, because I was a little mad at my Mom, so I turned down the visit, to Hurst Castle { if I'm being honest, I was a little bratty about it 🤭 } but years later, after I had my two children, my Hubby 😎 and I took a few trips, up to northern CA, and each time we drove the Pacific Coast, driving right by the castle.
    Years later, my Hubby 😎 and I, stopped by the castle { at the very bottom } and admired the castle, from afar. 🤗 You didn't mention Patty Hurst ??? But you did mention, five children { all boys }
    Thank YOU again.🤗
    LUV Joy.🤗

    Was able to tour with my grandparents circa 1950's. Then went back in 1070 on my 1 year anniversary. Was very much an awesome place. They had so many wild animals n we were only able to take pictures if there wasn't a flash. Got to go as far as the third floor. Had just been opened the previous year. Fabulous place to visit in it's heyday. Pool's were so beautiful n blue.

Your Vlog allowed me to see it in more detail when I was there with my son I had a broken back so i missed half of it... I was there back in 2014. It was an awesome experience. The indoor pool there is my favorite. I have a question, what is the song that you play in the intro and outro? Keep up the great work dude.

    It’s ok, a little modest and understated for my taste.kidding... holy moly who needs a house like that, I wonder if he was overcompensating for something.

      He WAS really, really, really, really, really, really rich after all. Could hardly expect him to live in an igloo. 🙄

    I was there and had the same tour guide upstairs. I did both tours. I remember so much of it. Great tour.

    I’ve been planning a trip to California, but won’t go till the Hearst castle is open again. I’ve been planning a road trip from San Francisco to San Diego along The PCH.

    My brother is an industrial archaeologist and he chose blue willow as his personal china pattern...I thought it was because he unearthed so much of the stuff at camp towns doing research, but the more I think of it, it's probably because of WRH and Hearst Castle. ;) I need to ask him.
