When you were in the company that shall not be named’s videos as a mixed race person with Indian heritage it was the first time in my life being confronted with someone like me that I was able to really see myself in. It was just a sudden explosion of “oh my gosh she knows what it’s like! She knows what looking in through a window is like in the same way I do!”

Another lady put it at the end of the rack near where the mirror was and after every dress I tried on I kept staring at it. So I finally asked the lady who was helping me if I can try on that one. She said it wouldn’t fit and it’s in the sales rack since they won’t be reordering it anymore. And since I’m crazy, I bought the size 12 since I knew it was my dress! Lol! I think this video summed up my childhood and experince thus far trying on bridal gowns. It felt very emotional to watch this video and also very cathartic to put into word what i didnt know i felt. Thank you!

I was speechless when you came out in that first red dress, you look so good in that color. I love how you had 2 separate dresses!! Being Chinese, our modern weddings usually feature 3 dresses: one "leaving the house gown" for when the friends and groom come to pick you up, usually traditional; one western ceremony dress; and one reception gown, which could be either. So personally I really love ur idea and you looked gorgeous! It came together so well.

I love seeing these as I'm planning my own wedding, and it can be fun, but difficult. I'm making my own outfit, as it's not traditional in any sense, but combining a lot of things. I'm going with a jumpsuit as I prefer more androgynous looks, but with really wide legs, similar to beach pyjamas of the 1930s. I'll be doing a lace overlay on the bodice using lace my grandmother used to make someone a wedding dress (she passed before I graduated high school, so my dream of her making my dress lives on through the lace she used, and me using her old sewing machine and serger that she'd left to me). I'm still figuring out the pattern so I know how much fabric to order, but so far, I'm really excited and glad I can mix elements that are meaningful to me in a way that I feel comfortable in. I also found out the place I plan to get my fabric from sells Swarovski buttons, so that's what I plan to do for extra sparkle, have crystal buttons on the back, or maybe a few in the front too depending on how I decide to do it.

Michelle, I never knew you were mixed (Indian and Caucasian). I just saw you as a modern, Western culture, Indian woman. It is lovely to want to, and be able to, embrace both cultures in your ceremony! I think you look so beautiful, stunning, and outright gorgeous in all of these wedding dresses!!! I just wish we could have seen you in all of the 100 you tried! Lol 🥰😍💘

i did multiple dresses for my wedding day, as well! i wore a laotian dress during our morning family gathering, a western dress for our western ceremony, and then i walked out in a thai wedding dress 😅 it’s a lot but it felt so meaningful to honor traditions of my family and my husband’s family ❤

The indian dresses are truly so beautiful! Everything about them is just so stunning! Love the idea of doing 2 dresses. I just saw another youtube couple that got married. Also indian female and white male. And they did a 2 day wedding. Western one day and indian other day. Regardless which way you decide to do things tho i love the respect being shown to each partners culture 🫶🏻❤️🫶🏻

It's beautiful and I feel like it would be incredibly cathartic to read a perspective from another woman living on the borderlands of her culture for you. 💖 So many blessings to the both of you in your many many years together! 🥰

Both dresses looked absolutely beautiful. I particularly like the red indian lehenga though. Here in sri lanka, we do exactly what you did. Two dresses. We have two ceremonies usually. The wedding and the homecoming. So we wear white dress for the wedding. And Red for the homecoming. Wish you a happy married life♥️
