Keep in mind that LSU had 39 scholarship players at the end of last season. Arguably the least talented LSU team we’ve seen in a while, and Brian Kelly has this team at 7-2, 5-1 in the SEC, First in the West, with wins at Jordan-Hare, at the Swamp, vs a Top 10 Ole Miss team, and vs Alabama. LSU has the potential to reach the CFP in Brian Kelly’s first year if they win out. The media projected LSU to place 5th in the West, with a 7-5 record or worse. LSU has far exceeded expectations quickly, they’ll be a force to reckoned with for years to come.
100% agree with everything you said. It will be interesting to see if Brian Kelly can keep this team focused these final three games vs somewhat lesser opponents. Would love to see what they could do vs Georgia in the SEC Championship.
@@grafehd5735 Yeah that would be a very intresting match up because the LSU D is very underrated especially the pass rush. It actually surprised me to learn that the LSU Defense had more sacks and QB hurries then TENN did against Alabama (tho nearly identical)

You failed to mention the player that changed the trajectory of the game. Perkins40 He balled out like a pro.

BJ Ojulari was a beast also. Actually had better Stats. 11 tackles, 7 solo and 1 sack. Perkins 8 , 3 and 1. Joe Foucha 8 tackles, 5 assist. So not just Perkins.
Yeah HP was a baller, but we need to thank Ark for the player swap. Those x- hogs balled out,& set the back end coverage, and set the tone that we gonna thump you, Bama on every play.
Incredible turnaround by Brian Kelly in year 1 at LSU! The ceiling is unlimited. On to Fayetteville!
This was huge and a testament to what Brian Kelly has the potential to do. Some of our best players are true freshman. Kelly has next year's class at #4 already. Everyone who thought this wasn't a "culture fit", our culture is winning and BK is winning in a transition year. Give this man some time and we will be back to where we were under Saban.
What exactly does "where we were under saban" mean? Tigers avg 3 losses a season while he was coach. He did bring us back to respectability though. He had one great team. Laid a great foundation to build on.

@@coleadams1631 All of the LSU fandom knew saban would leave BR for the NFL. It was just a matter of when. He finally got an NFL owner to meet his demands and it was off to miami. I have read multiple times that saban was supposed to have said he wishes he would have never left LSU.

As an LSU fan Brian Kelly exceeded all of my expectation. If you would have told me we would win the west at the start, I would have laughed in your face.
& if somebody said we would have to losses and it was FSU & Tennessee I wouldn’t have Believed that either 🤣

This win is huge for recruiting, first year in and you beat Bama and Control the west. That says alot about a coach and what he can do in year one with team that wasn't even ranked going into season

Best part about this is we don't have to listen to Notre Dame talking about "Brian Kelly can't prepare for big games" as we beat two top 10 teams.
I loved the hiring of Brian Kelly. but i will admit that i was wrong. i predicted we would see the results he has been showing us next year or the following year... i knew that he would get this program to go in this direction. but i surely didnt expect him to make it happen so fast. so happy and thankful for him. Great assessment Josh. If the current LSU coach was Les Miles or Orgeron, I’d be more concerned about a hangover against Arkansas. However, with BK’s professional, process oriented approach, I feel much better.
LSU has two true freshmen on the OL. A new QB, a walk-on RB, a new staff, a new punter and place kicker, and eight DBs were taken from the transfer portal. In January this LSU team had 39 scholarship players. Their best DL is out of the season, and the Tigers have played three top-10 teams (listening Pac-12?), having beaten two of them. Beating their former coach, Nick Saban, on a team that always has three to seven starters from Louisiana on their team, including their last Heisman Trophy winner, well, it was a well deserved victory.
Great stuff as always Josh - so nice to see real substance and thought put into what you cover.

Brian Kelly has this team playing hard since day one. We've had some bumps along the way but here we are after the first Saturday in November and we are first in the SEC west with control of our destiny. We still are playing for alot. If we win out we make the playoffs. If we keep playing like we have been the last few weeks I like our chances. GEAUX TIGERS
I have my reservations. This team has broken my heart too many times. I went all in after our bowl win over ucf in 2019 til our championship the next season and have watched every minute of crap football we played after the championship. We're in a good place with a good team that's playing in form but I'll wait til after we take back the boot from Arkansas to get my hopes up.
I understand your point but I don't think anyone at the beginning of the season would be here at this point.
Very happy with what's going on with LSU. Hoping this will give LSU a recruiting bump that will make them a more consistently dominant team in the future. I'd be lying if I told you I'm not worried about staff turnover after this season. Alabama this year is a prime example of what can happen if you have top talent, but your staff isn't up to snuff.

We knew Brian Kelly could recruit. Getting good players to commit to Notre Dame in this day and age is hard to do. The question was can he coach at this level In the greatest conference in college football ? Ladies and gentlemen LSU has a football coach!
I knew BK was a damn good coach when he took ND QB and put him at LB when the team was 12-3 and 13-0 at Cinncy.

Yeah. They thought they had one over CBK/LSU with their new coach's big win over dabo. CBK showed them with consecutive wins over top 10 teams. One being over bama that had beat him twice in BCSNC and CFPCG.
@@fredpitre2199 It happened because of recruiting ... BK signed a recruiting team who Coach O fired, these guys recruited some of the top OL and RB in college ... the HS in Louisiana know them. Coach O hired a scouting team who couldn't sign Leonard Fournette but fired the guy who did. With a mixture of home flavor and new coaches they are embracing their identity. I do think BK will make more changes after this season because of the slow start it seem like some friction with a few coaches.

We’ve got more players in the NFL than anyone but Bama and I think it’s tied. We’ve won 3 Natty’s since 2000. LSU has been a top 5 landing spot for any athletes since early 2000’s.

Kelly earned his way into the LSU family Saturday night. Beating Bryce Young led Bamma. And the best part, he won't have a scandal that upturns the Apple Cart.
TN flat out kicked out ass, no denying it. BUT, had we been Florida State's first game of the year, pretty sure we would have taken it. Both teams were sloppy but they at least already had a game under their belt. Regardless of "what if's", this year has far exceeded expectations (hell, they could have gone 1-8 but as long as the 1 win was against Bama, most folks in La would have been happy, lol). As much as the original "structure" of the program built by Saban has eroded away over the Les Miles & Coach O eras, it's good to see BK already has it going in the right direction. Next few years should be fun to watch.
I want to start by saying I'm really happy for the LSU football program it was an awesome win. LSU played a great game, but LSU fans are getting hyped, with reason, but I think the win against Bama was more about Bama not being Bama than it was about LSU. Don't get me wrong beating Bama in primetime for the whole country to see is a hell of a thing. This Bama team is not good or not as good as we are use to seeing, their defense has been exposed as mediocre and Bryce Young is the most overrated player in college football. I saw a post from a LSU fan talking about the next SEC dynasty is in Baton Rouge. Y'all got to stay humble because Tennessee fans were in the same ish until they got rolled up and smoked in Athens. LSU was circling the drain at this point last year. Those coaches got the players in, coached them up and here we are. As a competitor, anyone must respect the effort. As a Bama fan, I knew this loss was coming when Alabama won over Texas A&M. Josh, anyone who's watched our ISLB knows they can't stop the run. Henry T missed how many tackles Saturday night? Watch him play. If the play is coming right at him, he's a non-factor.

The "accent" that keeps being brought up was simply Brian Kelly misspeaking one word at an LSU basketball game and nothing more. The media ran with this flub because of the general disdain and butthurt of him leaving Notre Dame. Brian Kelly is a winner and throat punched nick saban to a win, outcoaching him in the process. Nick Saban wasn't from the south when he came to LSU. Les Miles wasn't from the south when he came to LSU. Ed Orgeron is from South Louisiana and he didn't last that long. All three of them won National Championships. Brian Kelly isn't from the south but he has shown he coach LSU to win big games. You don't have to be from the South to be a winning coach.
