I have an Owl Van ladder and tire carrier on my outer rear Sprinter door. All the time, the door unexpectedly SLAMS closed, and drives me nuts. My Transit never did that. I’ll be buying this kit, thank you.
Thanks for sharing this video, John. This is brilliant, I would buy this immediately for my Sprinter Van, but unfortunately neither Owl Vans nor CAVANS ship to Europe 😞
Wondering if struts at the top of the doors might be a better option. Prevents anything on the floor snagging the struts, and eliminates risk of knocking the struts when they are at waist height.
Struts so stiff I couldn't close the door from inside. Suggest adjustable struts mounted up high. Hopefully additional weight on the door will remedy. If not I can always mount a pull strap or handle on the door.
(much better install video, but shhhh dont tell Jason. I still butchered my install. I'm sure Alex will comment WTF next time I'm at the Mesa shop for something....LOL. But regardless they work great!)
I bought the kit. I have a load of other Owl stuff. BUT there is a special place in hell for companies who use US standard measurement fasteners on a van where otherwise every fastener and tool required is metric. If you're fitting this, you need a 5/16"-18 TPI Rivnut gun. (that I'd suggest should be M8 instead).
I agree. Unfortunately when we started Owl, the only bolts that would fit in the factory Mercedes hinge holes were standard. Therefore we didn’t have a choice. Since we didn’t want mixed bolts on our product we had to stick to standard. At this point, it would cause too many issues now to switch.
Thank you for this! Purchased our's from you. Your video is sooooooooooo much more thorough than CAV's. I feel confident in my DIY install now.
I love it , when I get my Sprinter that’ll be the 1st mod ..❤
Ahh scv, thought I recognize something. Awesome vid👍👍👍

Very cool if don’t want doors to open more.

Tactic Vans in Switzerland is now stocking our products in Europe. Please reach out to them and we will send some in the next container

If you saw them in person I think it would make more sense. The struts are totally out of the way both opened and closed

We can make an inner door pull. Good suggestion
I came for the sarcasm, but stayed for the wit.
And found neither 😂
Hey Jon, show us more stuff about the pro master
Tell Jason to make it for the RAM Promaster and I'll buy 1

how long are those struts?
Just the right length
Can these be used on 270* hinged doors?
Yes
OH! NOOO! Mr. Bill…SNL
😂
Had no idea Sprinter doors don't stay open. Can't believe they never updated the design to stay open at 90 degrees.
They have detents but they don't keep the doors open once you have boxes and tires etc. These also make opening the doors with heavy items much easier
