My Son installed the safety struts system today on the back door of my Revel by watching the Video and it went extremely well. Thank you for the Video. Great job!!!
So great to hear! Thanks for letting us know!
Just installed our's today. Love them!
Love to hear it!
Great video! Although Jason's was good too, this is a bit more carefully step by step. As mentioned on his, it's a relatively easy install.
One more tip, have an extra blade for your cutter (jigsaw or whatever) so that you dont over cut the threshold plastic...attempting to finish the cut with a broken blade might work, or then again you might learn too that it might not... ;)
It's a great product. Maybe now I wont get whacked in the back when a gust of wind tries to slam the doors on me.
Thanks.
We appreciate the feedback! We have an older install video and Owl has their own, but it seemed like some customers needed more clarity on a few things so this is the full, comprehensive install video.
Great tip and thank you for your support!
For such heavy doors (i.e. with Owl boxes and tire carriers), those ball anchors that are bolted on the floor panels seem small. Have you run into any issues with them breaking?
No issues from the doors/struts themselves, the only issue we've had was over tightening some of the balls during installation caused them to snap. Shouldn't be an issue for any kits that we've sent out to customers.
Great video. Thank you. Question: instead of cutting a rectangle out of the plastic, will drilling 3 big holes work? Thanks.
It is possible to drill 3 big holes, we've just found that cutting out the plastic is a more reliable way of installing the Rivnuts for the STOP-STAYS. If it's possible to cut the plastic with the tools you have, we highly recommend that.
Can you add a link above or let us know the touch-up paint you are using? Thanks!
Absolutely, added it to the description and thank you for the suggestion.
Jason did that on talons van.
Correct, Owl also has an install video. Still, some customers needed more clarity on the install so this is a longer, more in-depth version of that process.
Will this stop-stay limit the garage slide out deck from sliding out & in? Thanks.
Nope! The Garage Slide Out has enough clearance to hover over the Stop-Stays when it's pulled out.
My flooring extends further back towards the door and crosses over a small section of the plastic, preventing me from taking it out, and covering the little tab. After watching the video, it looks like I can just use a dremel multitool and cut it without removing it. Any reason you think that wouldn't work?
Without seeing your van we can't make any recommendations. If you want, send pictures to info@canyonadventurevans.com and we'll have our install team look at it and advise.
@@canyonadventurevans It worked! I just used a Dremel Multimax to cut out the plastic area, instead of unclipping the full plastic, pulling it out, and then cutting. Worked fine and the product is amazing. Thank you!! BTW, I do see a bit of movement when the heavy door (with the owl van big box and bike racks on it), but I think it is just from the heavy weight and momentum when it opens. I think it is just a small amount of movement from the sheet metal bending, as I believe I saw that on the Owl Vans demo unit too. That's ok, right? Thanks for a great product!!
Thank you for the update! Happy you made it work in your van. It's not uncommon to have a little flex or movement when the doors are opening, we have seen it on a few vans. It varies install to install but we've had 0 issues on our vans (loaded up with tire carrier, boxes, ladders, etc.) and have heard of 0 issues from our customers.
