Just unboxed my 7 string version with the walnut finsh last night. Only had time to play unplugged, but am already loving it. I'm new to 7 string and multi-scale. The neck is so very comfortable. Has a very ESP'ish thin U feel.
Just a heads up that run 5 of the Ormsby GTR line is underway. There's some beautiful guitars too, in particular the maccassar ebony and dragonburst hypeGTRs.
Perry's guitars are awesome, it's my personal goal to get over to Perth and do one of his guitar building courses. One day. I just bought the missus a nice 4x4 so who knows, maybe next year.
You have stepped up your game exponentially, good sir. This video is a leap forward in production value and the transfer of information. Don't get me wrong. Your videos are always informative and entertaining, but this shows a new attention to detail. Plus the riffs are slammin!!! **uses mouthbreather voice** but your tone always sounds the same. Killer stuff, Ola!!
Hey +Ola Engund. What tuning you usually use? Sometimes it sounds like a E-standard, but still heavy as balls. Sometimes when composing riffs, i get some Ola Englund -ish feel to it, when playing perfect 4th's, instead of regular power chords. Do you recognize anything similar to your playing? FAQ video if possible please. Thanks.
Ormbsy is the best. I bought a Goliath after NAMM this year, by March 31st, I already own 3 different Ormsbys, a Headless Metal V 7, and Dino DC Demanufacture 7
How strong is that headstock and those fanned frets really hurt my eyes trying to watch this demo. Looks like a beast though but I have my doubts about the headstock and always have since Dennis Kayzer demo'd the same style guitar.
+jeleopard And you know this how? The reason I have my doubts is regarding the construction so my question is regarding the amount of tension it can take before it snaps considering the lack of wood used. Can you tell me that or are you just gonna tell me that the headstock is strong and leave it at that?
Played a few, own one, flown with it across the US (Cali to PA). Parker has been making open-air headstocks for like 20 some years. Believe me, these are well made and totally safe. I understand they might look a little scary, but they're not.
Some of the demo tracks you record for these videos do you or have you released them for listeners as myself to throw on their audio devices? Also, when your have the drums for these are you creating them yourself for the clips or using Ezdrummer 2 for quick ideas?
I love these vids OLA, where you tease us with some new material I guess. That was the dealbreaker for me to subscribe to you. Bring back the new material tease vids :)
Awesome guitar. Really good job and well talented musician here. by the way would be cool to see a video about the famous old school swedish buzzsaw, entombed-ish tone. It'd be fun to see what you can do with this kind of tone ;)
I got a question that's been bugging me ever since Ibanez came out with the fanned fret iron label guitars this year . Does it actually that the frets are like that ? I mean does it help the play style and is it comfortable to do solos and all ? Ola has that figured out but I really wanna know .
It's very comfortable. Chords are easier, especially on the lower frets. Your wrist tends to sta in a very relaxed position throughout your playing, at any position on the neck.
+AlasPoorJordan HMM I'LL HAVE TO TRY ONE SOME DAY BUT I'M NOT REALLY INTO THE WHOLE BARITONE THING, COULD THE FANNED FRETS BE DONE WITH A NORMAL TUNE O MATIC TYPE BRIDGE AND TAILPIECE OR DO YOU HAVE TO HAVE THE TAIL AT A ANGLE?
Hey Ola, I got one question about multiscale guitar's. Is it harder to play chord's on a multiscale guitar than on a normal guitar? Since it looks a lil' uncomfortable. But nice informing Video, I was thinking about getting one of these Ormsby wood's the only thing holding me back is the fretboard.
Poor old Perth. Only Death Metal bands that love us enough to visit regularly is LOG and Meshuggah (no complaints though!). *crosses metal horns*. Looking at the 8-string version. P.S. the Synder pendant is fucking badass.
Dat Valute thoe Ormsby guitars necks could stop a truck. The headstock on my Sx-7 is mad thick it like twice that of my Cort kx-custom its got some sexy beef to it ;) I love it
AKA THAT opinion that all djent people has, which is shit... in case you don't know, it's not the strings that makes the guitar, same principal for the player by the way, specially if it's just to play the lowest strings on it, like all djent players do.
stupid musicians killer What exactly is the difference? I made a joke about seeing a modern metal video about a guitar having only 6 strings when so many videos are bout 7, 8 and now 9 string guitars and I connected that to a video that poked fun at how so many modern djent bands rely heavily on just one string and often even one fret. Seems quite relevant and prescient to where you were going.
+Jack O'Connor in this case it is. Ormsby markets it as a multi scale and not a fanned fret, simply because he uses a different way to calculate fret positions as compared to other makers. An example of a guitar that is truly a "multi" scale would be Tosin Abbasi's "Blur", made by Rick Toone. that one has fanned frets as well as separate scale lengths for the last pair of strings.
hey ola! what do you think about anchoring when playing? because just found out that more ppl says its a bad habit, and now im trying to unlearn it... i seems like you dont anchor, did you always do this, or had you done it before?
So funny coming back to Olas older videos, he's so serious :)
I live in Perth, Australia and I've spoken to Perry and he's such a good guy, definitely worth every dollar.
Probably my next guitar
Damn, Ola. That's some kickass riffage sir.
so jared dines, ola, and ryan bruce all talk about this exact same guitar in the space of like three days...
this company's marketing is on point
Perry Ormsby is a next level nice guy too man. Guy goes above and beyond!
where did jared and fluff do that? I haven't seen anything new from them about this guitar
Jared's Instagram.
i remember when perry was just a regular luthier in my home city. hes certainly grown
Been following Ormsby for a few years now. Some of the most beautiful guitars ever made come out of that guy's workshop.
So happy to see an Australian maker doing so well. Congrats on all the success, Perry!
Just unboxed my 7 string version with the walnut finsh last night. Only had time to play unplugged, but am already loving it. I'm new to 7 string and multi-scale. The neck is so very comfortable. Has a very ESP'ish thin U feel.
Perth boy here, I have an ormsby hype GTR 8 nicest guitar I’ve ever owned hands down
I remember watching is builds in the forums of Ultimate Guitar so many years ago! it's so cool to see him come all this way!
How arm down at 0:39??
You're playing really well, man. Major improvements over the years, specially with lead phrasing.
Just a heads up that run 5 of the Ormsby GTR line is underway. There's some beautiful guitars too, in particular the maccassar ebony and dragonburst hypeGTRs.
Terrific lead tone.
Perry's guitars are awesome, it's my personal goal to get over to Perth and do one of his guitar building courses. One day. I just bought the missus a nice 4x4 so who knows, maybe next year.
These guitars are so great. I love mine. Multiscale instruments have a host of benefits, and I've already bought another.
Oh how far Ola has come. Love ya buddy!
The neck is probably my favorite part of this guitar.
and absolutely crushing tone!
I could listen to Ola say "nunchucker" all day
love this side of your riff writing man, awesome demo as always man

Can I use it for Standart Tuning, so E A D G B E, or are Ormsby guitars for Drop Tunings?
far out that Randall ISO cab is killer sounding, i wish they were more common!
Awesome riffs! And that guitar is pretty sweet. It sounds extra in tune to me.
Hey +Ola Engund. What tuning you usually use? Sometimes it sounds like a E-standard, but still heavy as balls. That tune is AWESOME
Thank you for this Ola! Love seeing some of the Aussie guitars getting some international attention!
That lead tone, man...was that the AxeFx pedal thing?
is there an original floyd rose multiscale guitar???? I would buy it NOW!!!!!!!!!
Very soon! September announcement.
sounds great I will be waiting thanks!
I have another question...Works B standard tuning with this guitar (6B, 5E, 4A, 3D, 2F#, 1B)? I mean does it work well?
I could be wrong, but the floyd model released in September won't be multiscale.
AH yes. I misread the question. No floyd and multiscale.
Only floyd.
Dat clean tone is delicious
How strong is that headstock and those fanned frets really hurt my eyes trying to watch this demo. Looks like a beast though but I have my doubts about the headstock and always have since Dennis Kayzer demo'd the same style guitar.
The headstock is very strong.

Parker has been making open-air headstocks for like 20 some years. Believe me, these are well made and totally safe. I understand they might look a little scary, but they're not.
These companies making Blackmachine type guitars owe such a debt of (at least) gratitude to Doug Campbell.
thats the whole reason its called the "Hypemachine"
Who, in turn, owes a debt of gratitude to Parker??
+jeleopard who also in turn owes a debt to Leo Fender.
And so on and so forth ;)
I thought it was confirmed that the headstock inspiration was from BC Rich?
IIRC Doug said that himself.
awesome vid! i love hearing you say perth australia. come visit and do some shows/gear showcases!
Looks and sounds awesome, but...why does it resemble a Skervesen??
perry ormsby makes me proud to be from perth
I've never played a multi scale guitar, can these still be played in standard tuning?
Love the lead lines. More lead playing, please!
Some of the demo tracks you record for these videos do you or have you released them for listeners as myself to throw on their audio devices? Also, when your have the drums for these are you creating them yourself for the clips or using Ezdrummer 2 for quick ideas?
Ola bravo. With all respect I think you improve your playing a lot.
interesting headstock design. looks great
You 're the best! Explains all that i wanna know at mostly of videos
I love these vids OLA, where you tease us with some new material I guess. That was the dealbreaker for me to subscribe to you. Bring back the new material tease vids :)
Aaaaaand I just found my next guitar. Holy cow, that is a beautiful instrument!!
I fvcking adore the tonal characteristics that the EHR-E gives to that tone. A lot more muscle compared with the SM57.
I just got a new 27", IPS, 1440p, 144Hz g-synced ubermonitor. Trusty Ola Englund has some nice vids in phat resolution my memory says =D
Hey Ola, how do you go about writing songs?
Do sit and think, do you jam until you hit upon something, or do you let things come together over time?
That guitar looks awesome, great video
Hopefully i can snatch a spot for the aussie hypemachine. Will you be getting one Ola?
Are you gonna be making multi scale Washburn solars?
What Pantera song is that?
Ola! You've gotten so good at the geetar!
Awesome guitar. Really good job and well talented musician here. by the way would be cool to see a video about the famous old school swedish buzzsaw, entombed-ish tone. It'd be fun to see what you can do with this kind of tone ;)
Sweet review Ola !
great playing man!

AlasPoorJordan Thanks for your answer dude .
LOOKS BADASS BUT WHATS THE ADVANTAGE OF HAVING THE FANNED FRETS?
The largest benefit (for me at least) is how much more comfortable it is to play.
+AlasPoorJordan HMM I'LL HAVE TO TRY ONE SOME DAY BUT I'M NOT REALLY INTO THE WHOLE BARITONE THING, COULD THE FANNED FRETS BE DONE WITH A NORMAL TUNE O MATIC TYPE BRIDGE AND TAILPIECE OR DO YOU HAVE TO HAVE THE TAIL AT A ANGLE?
where it is possible to get a full track?
What is the name of the first song. What band or where is it possible to listen?
Hey Ola, I got one question about multiscale guitar's.
Is it harder to play chord's on a multiscale guitar than on a normal guitar? Since it looks a lil' uncomfortable.
But nice informing Video, I was thinking about getting one of these Ormsby wood's the only thing holding me back is the fretboard.
Anton Kleiner most people say its more comfortable because the fan of the frets follows the slant of your wrist
your tone is fucking amazing man. seriously.
Is the song up somewhere?
So this is the guitar that Jared DInes posted a pic of on Instagram?
No. That one is in the US. They are a part of the same production run that Ormsby did. They do them in runs with only a few finishes to choose from.
+Jevta624 actually it's the same model
Poor old Perth. Only Death Metal bands that love us enough to visit regularly is LOG and Meshuggah (no complaints though!). *crosses metal horns*. Looking at the 8-string version. P.S. the Synder pendant is fucking badass.
Your tone is tighter than usual in this video.
tasty tune Ola
Awesome playing as always Ola, but the headstock looks way fragile on that pup
It isn't
Dat Valute thoe Ormsby guitars necks could stop a truck. The headstock on my Sx-7 is mad thick it like twice that of my Cort kx-custom its got some sexy beef to it ;) I love it
what's the name of this song? like it.
such enthusiasm ... wow
Looks amazing, but they sound a bit weak in all the review. Gonna try one out next week.
Hi, Ola! Great rewiew! I like the way you made this video! Keep it doing and have a nice day!
that headstock reminds me of Parker Guitar but reverse and more metal
Is that a ukulele? Why does it have so few strings? :)
AKA THAT opinion that all djent people has, which is shit... in case you don't know, it's not the strings that makes the guitar, same principal for the player by the way, specially if it's just to play the lowest strings on it, like all djent players do.
stupid musicians killer I'm not usually into Jared Dines' videos but the 1-string/1-fret guitar was pretty funny.
louderthangod i'm talking about your first comment here, not about what you think of people acting like idiots on youtube.
stupid musicians killer What exactly is the difference? I made a joke about seeing a modern metal video about a guitar having only 6 strings when so many videos are bout 7, 8 and now 9 string guitars and I connected that to a video that poked fun at how so many modern djent bands rely heavily on just one string and often even one fret. Great colour
The headstock reminds me of Skervesen.
i love how you don't change the wrong stuff you said but put a caption instead hahaha
You should do a video like "Every amp sounds the same" but with guitars. That'd be really interesting
Thanks
Looks pretty sweet
Wicked guitar , wicked tone \m/
Someone can give me the song he's playing ? I found it sick
I learned that solo he played much agreed that track is sick as fuck
What do you use to stop the strings during the solo?
Vote for future Metal guitar revolution!
interesting design,i like it!
SICK:RIFFAGES:AMAZING INSTRUMENT:!!
What string gauge did you use?
the output jack position.... like on a blackmachine. Why would you do that!
Because it's close to the strap lock, so you don't need a 5 feet cable for your wireless, and so you can wrap your guitar cable around the strap.
Nick Brewer You ever played with a straight plug in classical position? Guess what happens when the jack is there
+FantaFuture92 Get a cable with an angled jack. Problem solved.
It still hurts after long time practice.
This video is definitely when is tone was the best
Ola, How do you like the fanned frets?
Well, these aren't fanned frets.
+Prospheta Yes they are. It's a multiscale fanned fret guitar.
+Prostheta multi scale and fanned fret are the same thing
+Arghyadeep Mitra not necessarily
+Jack O'Connor in this case it is. Ormsby markets it as a multi scale and not a fanned fret, simply because he uses a different way to calculate fret positions as compared to other makers.
An example of a guitar that is truly a "multi" scale would be Tosin Abbasi's "Blur", made by Rick Toone. that one has fanned frets as well as separate scale lengths for the last pair of strings.
That was so cool... How much i have to pay for one of these?
$1749 AUD to $1889 AUD --> $1337,88 USD
Protip: They have payment plans so you can delay your payments for about three months!
I believe they are around $1600 Australian :)
Really good price for what you get.... Thanks a lot guys
what song is it ?
hey ola! what do you think about anchoring when playing? because just found out that more ppl says its a bad habit, and now im trying to unlearn it... i seems like you dont anchor, did you always do this, or had you done it before?
Where is this guitar made? Is it outsourced to an Asian country?
Korea. Made by World who make PRS, High end LTDs, Strandberg, and many more quality guitars
WOW I WANT ONE
I'd snatch one of these up used
Dat solo was tasty!
You said CHance and not Shance! I'm so proud of your progress in western English annunciation. SköL!
I want that guitar!!!
What kind of camera do you use for your videos?
+Tyler Smith black magic 4K production
+Ola Englund awesome thank you
Ola Englund waht song is played for the intro thanks .
is that Guitar tune into B?
No, it's tuned to Drop C
Hi, I'm Jesus and I borrowed Zeus' guitar.
That dude looks nothing like Jesus, and Zeus would play a much cooler guitar.
Jesse Cole i agree with the first but hows this guitar not cool?
