I think timing worked against Paradox Rift, as it was sandwiched between two more popular sets. One had Nostalgia (SV 151) and the other more fun to open with better pull rates (Paldean Fates). It is an underrated set (right now) with some fantastic artworks. The SIR Altaria is 🔥🔥
Sets like this and Paldea will do well in the long term having more illustration rares than any of the current sets, and many of them are BEAUTIFUL. Plus some amazing SIRs (Altaria) and will create a lot of nostalgia for kids growing up on this era with paradox pokemon (roaring moon, iron valiant, gholdengo, etc).
I really think that this will be seen as one of the greats of this era in the future. The common sentiment around this set right now is very similar to how Paldea Evolved was treated half a year ago- being dismissed and forgotten. And don’t even get me started on this generation’s base set, one of the most underlooked sets in TCG history
Completely agree with everything you said, I’m pretty happy I was there for these set’s releases. Not only did I get the cards before their eventual spikes, I feel like most people who did care about these set’s were the fans who like all Pokémon and tend to not care about monetary value. It feels like a win for the real fans!

One of my lgs will sell Paradox for $500 a case out the door. All his booster boxes are priced the same but he has way more Paradox than any other…I’m two cases in and thinking of getting one or two more at that price
Loved this video! The first booster box I opened was paradox rift! Opened a few packs from it every weekend for a month, and did the same analysis as I went through the box. Got 12 hits (about half were EX), and last pack Magic was my fav. Sandy shocks sir
For sure this is a sleeper set but I am a fan now. I recommend to consider adding the roaring moon SIR to your collection. The card is beautiful in person and is very difficult to pull. I’m sure it will have its time in the spotlight one day.
I got a rift BB on eBay for my sons bday. Sure as shit he comes out and showing me he pulled the roaring moon. I was hype like what are the chances 1 single BB off eBay and he got it. 😀
I always felt like paradox rift was underrated. It was just released at a time when there was so much going on with 151 and other sets and the holiday season.
Paradox was nice because the pulls were a little harder than the first three SV sets but not terrible like the last two SV sets. I think it hit a sweet spot. It's also nice because it is a large set
This was the first set that I managed to pull, just from the ETB, a first ever in my life a SIR card, which was a Rika SIR which also was my favourite chase card since the reveal of the visuals. And later on, I finally got to buy another chase card which was Iron Valiant SIR. Even though the pull rates were not so great in some cases, I still need to find and buy other cards from this set because... man, in my honest opinion, this set feels so good to collect and look at it, just feels so good!
Paldea Evolved, Paradox Rift, Temporal Forces, Twilight Masquerade and 151 have all been gread sets. Ive been loving SV era so far minus Base (which was super fun to open but has crashed super hard) and Obsidian Flames which was neither fun to open or worth master setting although that didnt stop me!
Still trying to master Paldea Evolved, only have 5 cards left but im finding it hard to pull the trigger on Magikarp. Also i cant find a Zweilous reverse for the life of me.
Danny, I adore your videos... but it's pronounced "Plus-ull" (Plusle) and "Mine-un" (Minun) like the words plus and minus (positive and negative charges). Aside from your Pokemon pronunciations, thank you for sharing all the math behind Paradox Rift! Definitely my second favorite mainset behind Paldea Evolved in terms of Gallery quality.
I think the set will be largely dependent on the long term popularity of paradox pokemon. They feel a little gimmicky now, but a few years from now we may be looking back on iron hands with some nostalgia.
One thing that has kept this set under the radar is how Paldea Evolved and the two more recent sets have multiple cards in them that are more valuable currently than the most valuable card in Paradox Rift currently. This is not to say this won’t change in the future. I don’t look for amazing artworks so much as I look for beloved Pokemon that are featured in the set in order to gauge its future performance. Paradox Rift should based on this be at the top of everyone’s list.
Paradox Rift is okay, but I think Paldea Evolved, Twilight Masquerade and Temporal Forces are better sets. Remember that PR has no double bangers, no Ace specs, and has atrocious pull rates. Is it a bit overlooked? Yeah probably. This is a good time to open it as it has a lot of competitive cards. Once this set loses competitive appeal, expected value will get a lot worse for a long time.
PAR pull rates are way better than TEF or TWM I do prefer opening the latter two but that's mainly because I already opened a lot of PAR and got 90% of what I wanted
@@thomasvlekke5365 I get what you're saying, but that's not really true. I will correct myself. Hyper Rares and SIRs are significantly easier to pull yes. IRs and URs are significantly easier in TF and TM though. So it's pretty weird right? That was the whole thing Danny was talking about in a previous video, there was a problem with what types of cards were difficult to pull. This is why you see the SIRs in Paradox not doing as well, they are easier to pull and there's more of them. Idk it's just not as exciting opening PR right now as it doesn't feel like there's that big rare chase. Harder SIR pull rates have helped TF and TM do well so far. Just my 2 cents.
Used to be saying paldea evolved sucks, but now it seems great. Booster box guarantees you at least 1 SIR, most the time 1 box contain 1 SIR 1 hyper. PAR on the other hand guarantees, but most the time is just 1. Secondly, both does have an incredible amount of IRs SIRs, but paldea value much more than PAF. E.g margikarp, Iono, T.tar, raichu etc. PAF top card at most $60, so it makes ripping paldea more fun.
