Got an R7 and went with the Meike drop-in adapter and a set of EF(-S) lenses (18-135, 10-18, Sigma 18-35) instead of RF. The kit lens for the R7 is great, but I don't wanna buy filters for every lense. The Meike adapter solves this perfectly, so long as I go full EF.

I'm getting the R50 next month. I already spent most of what I had on other accessories I would need for the camera. I got the configuration with the RF-S 18-45mm kit lens. It seems like I'll be fine with the lens for some time. However, once I get enough, I think I'll pick up the Mieke adaptor and the EF Nifty-Fifty (because it's cheaper). That ND filter seems like it'd be very useful. Great video!

I lumped in the ND filter with the lenses and also combined the Luts with cinestyle so it's more than 5 all together but the numbering was setup a little quirky : ). Since the r50 shoots 10 bit you could apply a colour space transform to C-log or whatever log you want in resolve and grade happily there. it'll handle well
I'm not the biggest fan of hdr-pq but you are right you could make it work if you wanted to.
Is there a way to get a C-log in r50? Is color space an alternative for C-log?

When I slapped 18-35F1.8 on my shitty 2012 eos m, the pic coming out of it is like night and day compared to even 22F2 or 50F1.8stm. Greatest lenses you can buy for your little apsc sensor camera. Can’t wait to buy an R50.
I also used the 18-35 on the EOS M once and your right, I couldn't believe the images I was getting were coming out of a $200 camera.
Why does everyone gripe about the "lack" of RFS lenses?? Canon has released some great RF primes that are affordable and would work great with these crop sensor R cameras! The new 35mm f/1.8 or RF nifty fifty are perfect for APSC.
There are some decent lenses but some gaping holes in the lineup. Crop cameras have to have an ultrawide in there. Something equivalent to the ef-s 10-18. They would need to make a 10-18 with a fast aperture. f1.8 or so. There are some other missing pieces but that is the main one for me.

Both can livestream very well. Sony has more lens choices. Canon is a bit easier to use.

Thanks! The new Canon 16mm pancake RF lens is good. If you need wider than I would get an adapter and use the EF-S 10-18 mm

Thanks! I appreciate that. It all depends on your budget. I think the newer Sony cameras are great for the type of work you are trying to do because the AutoFocus is very fast and accurate. They also have an AF mode that detects planes. I think the R50 also has an airplane AF mode so it might also be worth a shot.

Would this camera be good for weddings? If so, which lenses do you recommend?
I do some catering as well as some food and travel vlogging. What would the best camera to use that's not overly expensive. The only pictures I've been taking is with my phone.
The R50 would fit the bill quite nicely
Also, we'll need an adapter to use an external flash.... Cause the grip on this model don't support the flash that we can put on past Canon DSLR

Thoughts on this camera for beginner bird photography?
I think it will make a great beginner camera for birding. Once you start dealing with fast moving wing flaps etc and start getting rolling shutter issues you can upgrade camera bodies. If you aren't going after any fast moving situations then you may not even need to ever upgrade.
So, I have a question... I love pretty bright videos and photos, I used a Nikon dd3300 with 50mm 1.8 lens before upgrading to canon r50, now I few like the clarity is missing, canon 50mm 1.8 looks darker then Nikon 50 1.8.... so my question is, for brighter and smoother images (baking tutorials my case) using R50 with mist filter and a EFS lens? thank you!!!
That sounds more of a situation that can be dealt with via picture profiles and or color grading. Try changing the picture profile and if that doesn't work try getting the look you want by color grading in post.

I want to love this camera soooo bad. But honestly I just can’t get past the lack of lens offerings. I am having a difficult time convincing myself to make the plunge to the Canon RF system and investing in EF glass at the same time. I just can’t make it make sense. I will go with Sony A6700 or Fuji X-S20. Likely the Sony due to superior autofocus performance. Regardless, lens selection for either make Canon look silly.

It can do it but with some limitations. It's not meant for pro use. Not that the results are not pro but that you can't run it all day everyday in a pro work environment. It isn't built for that.

I don’t think that lens is that sharp. The sharpest of the kit lenses is the 18-150 rfs. The 18-45 rfs is also not that sharp but decent for the $100 they’re charging with the kit. I got the 18-45 and will upgrade when canon comes out with better apsc lenses.

The R50 is the better buy for many reasons.
Great video been doing research on a new camera a few years ago I used to have a a7ii but sold it looking into getting a new camera for wild life and long exposure shots, in between the Fuji film xs10 and canon r50, what do you think? And I heard canon is allowing third party lenses now.
In this case it's really about which ecosystem / lens line-up you wan to get into as both cameras are good entry level options. I heard Canon is allowing Sigma to make lenses but not sure if it's allowing all 3rd party companies or not. They shot themselves in the foot with that one.

i still cannot get cinestyle on my r50 the utility app isn't recognizing my camera I tryed turning off wifi bluetooth even bought a $30 camera cord! 😢
Strange, make sure the cord is a data cord and not just power.
You should tell people that Canon claims that the camera supports UVC/UAC, which means that it can be used as a web camera via a USB-C connection. BUT... it turns out that the USB connection doesn't transmit audio - just video. (In other words, it doesn't really support UAC.)
It's bad enough that the camera simply doesn't do something that the literature claimes it does. When I contacted them, they weren't interested in clearning up their documentation to reflect the truth.

Thanks! Honestly for professional real estate videography the R8 is much better and worth the investment. The reason is mainly due to it's ability to shoot in 4k 60 fps without a crop. This is essential in real estate videography. Also the wider field of view will be crucial for filming rooms and other tight spaces. If you pair the R8 with the affordable Canon 16mm f2.8 RF lens you will have a nice real estate setup.

@@michelleturcotte6610 the R50 is a very capable camera for the price. The only downside for real estate photography would be the difficulty in getting wide shots when inside a room. You would have to get a very wide lens like a 10mm which is possible but lenses that wide are harder to find for aps-c cameras such as the r50 whereas the full frame equivalent would be a 16mm which there are plenty of. Other than that the R50 would be fine for real estate photography. I have a video about full frame cameras vs crop (aps-c) cameras which may help you understand the differences better. The RF 16mm f2.8 would be a good fit for medium-wide shots. If you need further reach the RF 50mm f1.8 would also be nice.

The one problem with using the EF lenses, and it's not a major problem, is that they're quite noisy in focusing. The sound comes out on the recording quite clearly. This could be solved, of course, by shooting on manual focus, but I suspect that the people who've purchased this camera are primarily AF folks.
It's true that some older lenses are noisy but not all. Take for example the Ef-S 10-18mm it is 100% silent but my sigma 18-35 is very noisy. For wider focal lengths it can be challenging because the shotgun mic is on top of the camera in those instances but for tighter focal lengths the solution is to simply use a lav mic or boom your shotgun mic so that it is close to the subject but not the camera.
@@FulaanCreative Yes. I use my Canon 1.4 50MM lens and on the R50 I’m sounding like Robocop out there. But I have some quieter options.

If I buy the R50 Canon, I'm concerned by the cost of Canon lenses. U mentioned some brands as Tameron and Sigma.
Can U suggest good affordable lenses for this Camera in those brands that will cover me for Architectural, Real Estate, Commercials , Products, and Neighborhood wallkabouts etc and simple interviews with nice depth of field.
My Interest is mainly Video in 4k high cinema quality and a few pic here and there.

The Canon 16mm f.28 rf lens would be great for what you mentioned. The only other camera in this price range that I'd consider is the Sony zv-e10

Great video.. I have a question, I have a Canon 80D that I bought for video about 6-7 years ago, I still use the kit lens that I came with. It does not have 4K. When doing video indoors with the loss of daylight it is quite of noise/distortion in the video even thought there is not really a low light situation in the room I am making the video. Is there a lens you would recommend for my 80D that will make much better video in low light indoors or should I just go ahead and buy a new camera ? What's your opinion ? Thank you very much.. :D
A new camera would be a good move. If your not in the position to get a new camera then an f1.8 lens would help. Maybe the EF 50mm f1.8

I wanted to upgrade between the R50 and eos RP which would you recommend for a full-time videographer and content creator ?
The R50 is better. oversampled 6k. The rp is 4k but has a 1.6xcrop as well as no DP auto focus and 30 minute record linit compared to the 1 hr limit on the r50. It's also lineskipped 4k I believe. Imo the r50 is better for video even though you lose a little dynamic range.
Sorry, but do you have a video about m200? I don't know what to choose between r50 and m200 because I want a camera for traveling and I feel like r50 would be bit too big and heavy but I don't have money for anything else other than these 2😢

I haven't seen any good rf-s lenses so I'd just grab some rf lenses. I'd get the Canon 16mm f2.8 rf and the canon 50mm f1.8 rf
With the EF-S mount, do you really need an ND filter for variable aperture lenses more than F2.8?. I get it for a wider aperture. And how is the low light performance and high ISO in the R50?
For outdoors you would need an ND filter in many cases. Low light is better than it was on the M50 but it's still not as strong as similarly priced sony cameras.
I just got my R50 and heard great things about the sigma 18-45 1.8 lens.
Will you be able to use the whole zoom range when having an adapter to be able to mount the sigma lens? Or will you get some vignetting or so?
You won't get any vignetting unless you use a speed booster adapter.

Even after all the new camera drops from Canon, R7, R50, R10 I still couldnt justify buying any one of them from my super ancient 550d.
Ended up switching over to Sony for their ZV-E10 and it was the best thing ever. I didnt have to think of stupid adapters and what not.
The Zve10 is amazing value for money but it's not for everyone. Many hybrid shooters will look passed it due to the lack of an EVF. Amazing camera none the less.

I like your video, but What do you think about using the Canon R50 with the Meike adapter and a Sigma Art 24-70 2.8 EF mount?
Sure why not? It would give you about a 30mm - 100mm focal range which is very useful in numerous scenarios.

The R50 is much better. the 250d is a bit dated.

It will be fine. Just multiply the focal length by 1.5 to get the equivalent field of view.

im thinking of buying a canon r50 but i need your opinion on this. I got a canon 700D with crop mood installed, having a blast using it and learning about color grading with davinci resolve, now my problem is the lack of autofocus when using crop mood, yeah its a great cheap camera if you have it on a tripod and focus the scene you want and leave it like that but for handheld street filming i really wanted the autofocus and some sort of stabilization , also how is the color grading on the r50 compared to the 14bit raw from crop mood? can you push the colors a fair bit without getting the quality ruined? in your opinion is it worth the upgrade? currently costs 780€ with the Rfs 18-45 is Stm kit lens.

The R50 in 10-bit HDR PQ might be able to be graded a bit without destroying the image but compared to 14 bit raw footage I don;t think it will be the same. That being said AF is a must really.
What About canon M50 mark ii
What would you recommend for astrophotography?
Not sure as I have never done it. I know Canon has a version of the EOS R which was designed specifically for astro photography. Might be worth a look.
why just ef-s and rf-s lenses though? I'm using rf lenses for my r50 and they are working great
Mostly due to the gaps in the RF lineup. For example nothing as wide and versatile as the EF-S 10-18mm yet. Second you get internal ND filters which is also a plus. There are a lot more RF lenses now than there were before but still not everything that's needed.
How would you advise someone making little documentaries and travel videos. Fx30 ? R8? R50?
Most would probably say the fx30. Personally I'd go with the R8. There is a battery grip you can buy for $60 that was designed for the RP. It works for the R8 and lets you use 2 batteries at once effectively doubling the lousy battery life.
