Unexplored maybe, but considering space is 3 dimensional, there is literally an infinite number of ways to approach the planet.
Honestly, the moment you see the "space cancer", as I've heard it called, you actually know your going in the right direction, and all you need to do is to go around it.
It literally has a damn sign pointing it out, and the ilonky reason nobody had found it yet was cause the director invented it for this movie, so "hidden" is not how I would describe it.

@Joseph Douek Except that the Sith Eternal Fleet wasn't built at Exagol. The ships were built at a Kuat subsidiary yard and moved TO Exagol. Think about that. Sequels!New Republic missed a known Imperial shipwright producing and sending off *tens of thousands* of Star Destroyers. That's nearly HALF of the Empire's entire navy *at it's height of power*.

That is such an awesome concept to me. Just imagine being some rebel fleet commander stationed on some random backwater; or even just going through hyperspace since it has interdiction tech, and just seeing this massive ship show up out of nowhere, rip your whole fleet to shreds, and then just disappear back into the stars.

I feel like weaponizing hyperspace lanes is probably far more complicated than we think, like it seems like ships whenever they enter hyperspace seem to create their own little lane/pocket of hyperspace. Cause if all ships traveled in the same lane then there probably be way more crashes involving hyperspace.
Mines in hyperspace sounds like a Battletech level of tactics in terms of just going all out with utter disregard for civilian life. Maybe that's why they don't do it in Starwars even if the Battletech universe doesn't have hyperspace, it'd just being going TOO low even for factions like the CIS or Empire.

Most likely the reason for the lack of “hyperspace weaponization” such as placing mines in hyperspace itself has do with the way hyperspace science works. U need to accelerate to light speed in order to enter it and if u purposely try to slow down with everything working properly u exit it. That’s y a lot of the time in Star Wars, instead of saying something like “entering hyperspace” u hear “accelerating to light speed” or something along those lines

I forget if he ever cops to it explicitly or if it is stated outright, but Legends Palpatine wasn't himself xenophobic. It was a practical decision after the Clone Wars to embrace the existing Human High Culture as a means of fomenting hatred and division throughout the galaxy. Remember that many of the prime worlds of the Confedracy were non-Human. He literally fed off the evil that the Empire perpetrated.

@@Janoha17 Very true. However Palpatine, unlike his later ally Janus Greejatus of Chommell Minor, did not display signs of having internalized that sort of philosophy. The Galactic Empire was also incredibly mysoginistic and yet there is no evidence of Palpatine himself sharing that view. Mara Jade and Ysanne Isard are just two examples of him putting capable women into places of high authority despite official Imperial policy. As I said, allowing the bigotry of others stemmed from his psychopathic nature, ability to divide his potential enemies, and the strengthening of the Dark Side through actions large and small.
None of this is to say that Palpatine was some kind of good man. He wasn't. It's just that the bigotry and discrimination were a means to an end. Not the result of any deeply held animosity.
@@BadtotheBrick In that instance, it was Ysanne Isard, Director of Imperial Intelligence (and de facto Empress) who concocted the Krytos scheme in 7 ABY and, so far as we are aware, did not know Palpatine was alive again until around the time of Isard's Revenge in 9 ABY.
Later in the timeline, the Diversity Alliance discovered the Emperor's Plague storehouse in the Deep Core which contained the Krytos Virus and a human specific plague called the Emperor's Plague. There are reasons that I think calling it the Emperor's Plague storehouse is a misnomer because it seems unlikely that Palpatine secured these samples and set up the storage facility but the question is never really addressed.

For the hyperspace question, I always thought that if you were in hyperspace, you had to be "in motion". Laying mines would be pointless, in this case, because a) they wouldn't necessarily be where you want them to be, and b) they probably would be very hard to track- thus potentially posing a danger to the entity that laid them.
My thoughts: In regards to Eck's musing about putting a mine INSIDE hyperspace, it's probably hard to keep a mine in a location inside hyperspace due to 1) energy requirements long term 2) stabilization resisting any hyperspace "wind" or whatever property of hyperspace that makes it easier to travel in it faster. If hyperspace maps to real space, then the only reason you'd want to go there is if you "flow" through it faster than normal space. If the later is the case, the slightest nudge inside hyperspace would knock any mines aside. Way more risk when compared to having the mines reside in normal space.

I saw a video once where it was explained that they couldn't have dropped missiles, or bombs into/from hyperspace, because hyperspace is somehow so weird that the munitions would simply disappear, or just not reach their targets, so it would be impossible to put mines there.

Considering the fact that there are freaking monsters in hyperspace, and the fact that it's pretty much been explained as a pocket dimension, I'd say yes. Two objects in hyperspace should be able to find each other.

I just want you to know, you are the only Star Wars content I consume now.
Yuuzhan Vong did mine the common hyperspace lanes with dovin basal mines. The micro-blackholes created a large mass shadow that dumps a ship in hyperspace back to normal space as a safety feature of the hyperdrive. Also a temporal displacement could had happened to one of Revan's fleet as he used a powerful Sith Staff that could transport something to a large distance. Problem with this is that the universe&galaxy is always moving so if the staff just created a wormhole/rift and didn't go anywhere, it did go forward in time into the future. Unfortunately someone powerful in the force could intercept that spatial displacement and manipulate it just like the Sith Emperor did in capturing Revan.
#askeck Imagine 2 enemy fleets going in hyperspace on the same lane to the others respective homeworld. The fleets are massive, so the likelihood they would crash into one another is very high. Would the ship's sensors detect the other fleet in hyperspace allowing for enough time for both fleets to exit, do the ships phase through one another, or would they crash in the hyperlane? Option 1 would not have very much backing it up but it would be cool to intercept another fleet in hyperspace. Reminds me of 2005 Battlefront's Galactic Conquest and how the ships could meet in the middle of nowhere. Option 2 reminds me of how Empire at War works when you send a fleet at a planet to attack and you see the enemy do the same and they just pass right by each other. Option 3 would be based something I heard about the spacewhale-squids in Rebels apparently running into ships in hyperspace.
Also, before the Last Jedi came out, would a ship have been able to hyperspace at another ship and get into the other dimension before they hit the shields or the hull of that other ship?
#askeck why were the Eclipses so susceptible to being found and commandeer, yet two moon-sized space stations managed build quickly and eluded everyone until each of their big reveals?
The rebellion had limited resources before the battle of Endor and was generally just trying to not get destroyed. The New Republic was actively looking for and destroying leftover imperial remnants. The 2 death stars weren't found easily because, well, no one was looking for them.

The New Republic messed up with this quite a bit. They knew the Empire had a lot of SSDs and probably had a few WMDs stashed somewhere, so they should've prepared. Yes, they had the Nebula and the Viscount in development, but they were years from completion.
What they should've done is sped up development of the K wing and brought it into service as a Y wing replacement in large numbers. Then, you saturation bomb the Eclipse to oblivion with hoards of bombers. After all, I imagine it would've been easier to build a bomber than a battleship.

I think the problem with blocking or mining hyperspace is that it could be difficult to undo. Ships can change course in hyperspace but I can't recall one stopping, which would make removing obstacles very tricky and make the rout just as dangerous for the one doing the blocking.

I've been reading EU books, and I'd thought this past week: it would have been great if certain comic only stories were redone in novel form - fixing continuity issues at the same time.
1) Dark Empire Trilogy (possibly only needing a duology in novel form)
2) Shira Brie/Lumiya and the Nagai-Tof Invasion that occurred shortly after the Truce and Bakura.
3) Luke and Mara's wedding, and a final Young Jedi Knights arc, showing Jacen, Jaina, and friends learning from Aunt Mara (as described in Vector Prime)
Yes I agree with you...but I still have yet to find these continuity errors people talk about...and i own almost every novel (329) and have a good amount of comics...
@@Kolonol1 The Dark Empire fights the "Rebel Alliance" - several years after the formation of the New Republic. The battle where Luke shoots down Shira Brie, and in fact their entire relationship, takes place simultaneously with Shadows of Empire, when Luke wasn't around to have that story.
Luke and Mara Marry in 20ABY, in 25ABY Jaina is Aunt Mara's apprentice. But in Young Jedi Knights (22-24ABY) Aunt Mara is never mentioned once.
That's just off the top of my head.

You should do a comparison video, comparing the Tyranids (W40K), the Zerg (Star Craft), and The Flood (Halo). I know you did a parasite/plague comparison video with Halo, Dead Space, WH40k, and Zero Dawn. But I think the Zerg, Tyranids and Flood would be the most fitting given their mechanics and how they approach different situations.

As far as I can conclude in canon you need propulsion and guidance systems to stay in hyperspace (correct me if I’m wrong), every time we see something accidentally exit hyperspace as in being pulled out, the ship tends to become hard to control and scrape the walls of the hyperspace tunnel until it slows down and enters real space. It seems to imply that you need to be traveling at sufficient speed to stay in hyperspace. So perhaps building mines that stay stationary in a hyperspace lane is impossible and the only way to do so is in regular space at the exit of the lane.

Don't forget the part where Tyber Zann killed Han Solo and Chewbacca by blowing up the Millennium Falcon. Man, Forces of Corruption had such a consistent story.
As for why nobody mined hyperspace, it could be that there are unpredictable eddies and currents that can carry things off course over time, without the pilot or computer really noticing. Perhaps part of it is just that it's impossible to know your exact point in hyperspace. Actually, when I was watching The Last Jedi and they talked about hyperspace tracking, my brain started trying to predict how they were going to do it. It settled on there being some kind of hyperspace station that had managed to anchor itself and use hyperspace-enhanced sensors to monitor everything. The visual concept was really cool to me. Of course, that prediction didn't last long.

Can two ships collide in hyperspace?
Yes. At least in the Expanded Universe. I can’t cite the specific book, it’s just been a really long time since I read it. It’s next to impossible, but it could in theory occur.
In reference to that ask Eck question you answer: I don't remember exactly where it's at but in the last book of the Black Fleet Crisis the lead Imperial Officer has a little monologue about how he used to be a hyperspace researcher and that one of the things he learned was that they don't know what happens to objects you drop into hyperspace that don't have hyperdrives but they know that they are never seen again. He then proceeds to eject one of the antagonists in an escape pod while in hyperspace. I'd look up the exact quote but my books are in storage, maybe someone else has them handy and can find what I'm talking about.

I assume anything that comes off of a ship in hyperspace would maintain the speed that the ship had all be it likely to either slow down or keep going the same direction meaning it would be an o next that went the whole way around the lane

I am catching up to you in listening hours...
Logistically, I personally think that it would be impossible to construct the Eclipse. It would take so long to construct it, that the initial systems that were put in/designed would be completely obsolete by its completion and so would need upgrading, continuing the cycle.
