Last gen there was 3 cross-gen CODs (Ghosts, AW, and BO3), and BO3 was a really shitty version of the game. BO6 will be the 5th cross-gen COD this gen (CW, VG, MWII, MWIII, BO6). That is wild. I think it is related to the Cod HQ thing, since that already works on last gen so the new games are limited to that.
As someone who has been playing Call of Duty for years I can tell you that the game will never be like the good old days. The franchise has changed so much over the years, and not necessarily for the better. Sure, there are some improvements here and there but overall it's just not the same Call of Duty just doesn't hit the same as it used to. It's like we're chasing the high of the good old days, but they're never coming back.

Old consoles are definitely holding back the new game titles. I have a buddy on PS4 who can't even load into MP matches before they've started. We normally have the 1st flag capped before he gets to pick a class. In warzone, he has issues with looting, sound queues, and textures for the first minute or so after dropping in.

I agree. I want a COD that takes full atvantage of the current generation console. Like I am playing Stellar Blade on the PS5 and it looks and feels great. I would look and play like shit on the PS4. Which is why it isn't available on the PS4. I have been waiting for a COD that leaves the old gens in the past and push the envolope. PS4 has been out since 2013. Console is almost 11yrs old. It is time to move on. So I will see how BO6 looks, but that fact that it is on older Gen consoles isn't good news at all.
But Cold War looked amazing (in single player at least)? Digital Foundry were very complimentary of it on current gen and that game was across both, clearly the engine can scale well across both generations

They updated the graphics and shit for GTA 5 when it moved over from PS3 to PS4 and with BO3 they had two different versions of the game, one for PS3 with shittier graphics and one for PS4 with better graphics. Not everyone can get a new gen console right now because the economy is completely fucked and people are poor as fuck now while rich people are just getting even richer so cutting out last gen consoles completely will really affect their sales numbers this year more than ever.

I'm not really sided toward either. Defiant is fine, but it really isn't anything like Call of Duty aside from the really "sticky" feeling movement and cartoony animations. The netcode and hit detection is awful though. EOMM isn't the problem you think it is, it's the combination of SBMM (which is VERY poorly balanced in current CoD compared to other games with SBMM) AND EOMM. EOMM has been proven to work and be a good thing in specific games and gamemodes. Usually bigger games with long, team focused modes. We obviously don't need it in TDM and party modes which is what 50% of the people who buy these games only play anyway. They just need to find that sweet spot, remove EOMM from shorter less objective focused modes and LTM events. Bring back the "Experimental Playlist" mode as a permeanent addition to every CoD going forward and only apply SBMM to Ranked and competitive gamemode types. Maybe keep it in Warzone too because that shit's sweaty enough as is and very rarely do they offer some sort of earnable reward in Warzone; which you should have to work for anyways regardless of personal skill. They can obviously just take a look at what XDefiant is doing anyways and just have more preferred matchmaking settings. Make crossplay optional by default regardless of what platform you're on, have an optional input based matchmaking setting and just make SBMM an optional setting so they don't have to seperate specific modes in the casual play menu, to have SBMM. With a big clear warning for which modes WILL enable and trigger your SBMM so you can decide whether or not you want to partake in those modes. (Including a "warm-up" / experimental variant in Ranked, that matchmakes based on your preferred setting so you can tune your loadouts and check out the rotations and rules in the current season before going into a full Ranked match, putting your stats on the line) Also seperate stat trackers (if they were to hypothetically make SBMM a toggle setting) for when you have SBMM turned on and when it's off, so if you're going into a mode that has SBMM enabled by default, you'll be able to mentally prepare yourself better and know when you have to go full ape.

I don’t think old gen is holding the games back. If anything, the players on old gen are held back. I recently upgraded to ps5 and MW3 is quite noticeably better graphically and gameplay is smoother. Plus, on ps4 my load times were super slow, games would be like a minute in progress usually, and half the textures (especially the ground) would take an additional minute to fully render. S&D would always miss the first round and I’d be killed while still loading in (ps5 you load in and have like 20+ seconds to pick your class before the match lol), gun inspection would only work in the gun range, not in a match, and lots of other minor details just weren’t there.
Tbh they just need to save zombies the most with this game. I know thats not this channels focus, but its really a make or break for a massive part of the black ops series.
Call of Duty on Game Pass is only viable of they add the Vault Edition. I think Game Pass Ultimate should receive all Xbox first party titles at their highest version (Deluxe, Ultimate etc) just like Ubisoft+ is doing. They can add the basic edition on Game Pass Core.
I’m actually excited for the campaign and the story missions, but I’m not interested in whatsoever of what they doing with the multiplayer, I just know that SBMM will be shoved up so far up our as**es that we cant even enjoy it, ill just stick to Xdefiant.
The game pass idea could definitely help the MP player base. Having more people on MP would probably help in terms of matchmaking and the type of people you play against
Xdefiant was alright but there's a lot of issues. Its only something to play on the side for me personally. Its not enough to get me to stop playing CoD let alone play less of it. I have higher expectations for B06 than I do Xdefiant

Damn, the talk about pre-ordering is so crazy to me. What was it? Like recently as 10-12 years ago, pre-ordering was no big deal - we as consumers expected a full game with no game-breaking bugs. Nowadays, we gotta have talks about pre-ordering because then it gives publishers an excuse to withhold content. “See the public preordered our game! They are satisfied with the content as it is, we don’t have to spend the money to put ‘extra’ (or planned by devs) content in the game.” I feel sorry for the younger generation. They never got to be able to go to the store with $50 from doing chores/yard work pickup a brand new game and have nothing go wrong with it. Dang, not only was there multiplayer and Zombies, but there was also an entire Singleplayer campaign that kicked ass. I know this has been said before by thousands (if not millions) of people. But as a gamer that grew up in the late 90s/2000s it’s just absolutely insane to me that we as consumers allowed this to happen.
A friend of mine from Microsoft told me that they been thinking of using hardware id ban and ip/geolocal ban and honest opinion from me is I am somewhat excited to see what they gonna do I was born in the 90s so bit of a exciting era for me for a game
The pre-order thing is such a weird debacle. Sure, you don't want to send the message that you want this game so badly that you'd pay for it months in advance, but at the same time, they're not relying on your money. They're relying on the dummies who want to buy gun skins for the price of a full indie game. AAA game companies like this don't care about pre-orders. When was the last time someone said "This game barely had any pre-orders! Good job, community!" and it actually meant something? We're over a decade past that time. I'm not saying pre-order it, but I'm just saying you're not making that dent you think you will be. They already beat us on this problem with the F2P style shop and battle passes.
I’m glad it’s gonna be on Game Pass day one. I skipped buying MW3 out of protest/boycott for the full price expansion that it was. But recently I’ve been playing MW2 again to scratch my online FPS itch, and I do feel like I’m missing out not playing the newest CoD.

As long as CASUAL MP Playlist have strict SBMM, I won't be buying, downloading a free copy, or have any interest in cod anymore. Last cod I bought was cod2019. And I've seen enough from this franchise. Too many people are fan boys of this franchise and there's no way I would be a content creator for Cod without internally feeling miserable.

Halo Infinite was a flop, Redfall was a flop that got the studio shutdown, and Starfield was a flop. I’m gonna go against the grain here and say I’m sorta excited for BO6. The setting is really interesting, and I hope we can finally get that feeling of being just a part of a war as opposed to a unkillable spec ops soldier that we had in the most recent CODS. 4 years in development is also a plus. Theres not enough for me to place a preorder at all, and I probably never will but the hate i’m seeing is probably unjustified right now. I just hope 3arc doesn’t drop the ball on the campaign like IW did with MW3, because BOCW’s campaign was amazing

Seeing as for me, Cold War had the most crashes, more than all of the Warzone era CODs combined (& still more on top of that) on PC, I'd have to hold out & see how performance is on this one. I don't want to experience that kind of frustration again. I'll always be a bit wary for Treyarch titles after experiencing that. Tho I will say when I came back to Cold War after the end of its lifecycle, the crashes had seemed to be fixed & vanished completely, so it must've just been an issue for launch & the first few seasons tbh (I quit quite early for BOCW). My hopes is the quality control is good with this release on PC, as Treyarch games do tend to be good overall.
Ugh... As far as the lack of a significant upgrade from PS4/PS5 or XBOne/XBSeries, that's primarily due to the lack of games that specifically target the newer consoles. Just the fact of the HUGE jump in storage speeds between generations allows developers a ton more freedom. We're not going to see those advantages until developers are freed from supporting the older console generation. As far as BO6, I'll wait to check out the beta, and go from there. I'm pretty happy with XDefiant, and don't play Warzone anymore, so not sure if I'll even bother with BO6.
I just hope they do something about their Vegas slot machine of a match making system. Having a proper, ELO style SBMM system would go such a long way.

I really hope black ops is going to be its own game separate from what they’ve had going on, but it’s already been confirmed that it’s gonna be partCOS HQ, so does that mean Warzone is gonna be tied into this game also?
Always excited to see an opportunity for a larger player base, so I think GamePass will be mostly positive. Still not sold on the yearly release cycle, leaving behind all the MWIII content, which I think SHG has been doing really well with, is going to feel pretty bad. The era is certainly interesting, I'm interested to see how they incorporate the usual Black Ops story beats into the Gulf War timeline, it's kind of cool to have it set in this particular era mostly because it's recent memory but not "modern" like the Modern Warfare settings.
i do want to note that since this is on gamepass, do you think gamepass members will get the same benefits as if they preordered it? i def figure they'll let them at least get early beta access
also they never typically tease zombies as our first gameplay shot. remember, the reveal trailer is meant to pop up during the xbox showcase itself and then they'll have the direct for it afterwards. We may end up seeing some MP and Zombies stuff during it.

(starfield for example is a good compairsion because it is firstparty aswell. you just got the base game without early access 4 days or so and without any dlc. they still want you to buy deluxe edition) that said i could imagine a weekend open beta which prior releases have been first on PS, then PS and PC could now be XBOX and PC
So they have to develop COD to work on PC, PS4, PS4 Pro, XBOX One, XBOX One S, XBOX One X, PS5, PS5 Pro, XBOX Series S, XBOX Series X and Switch 2. This will go well.

I'm always surprise that Ubisoft+ includes their most expensive deluxe version and Microsoft is 100000x bigger than Ubisoft as a company. Imagine Game Pass Ultimate include their $100 deluxe version for as long as you have the subscription. I always pre-order for the extra shit if I like the game.
I can assure you it's not as profitable to give the full super ultra mega versions of games away. Also Ubi titles have much more aggressive monetization schemes attached with fucking "time savers" and "xp boosters" in their SINGLE player games.

If BO6 has EOMM (and it most likely will), then I think I'm still going to spend most of my time on XDefiant anyway.

I'm not really sided toward either. Defiant is fine, but it really isn't anything like Call of Duty aside from the really "sticky" feeling movement and cartoony animations. The netcode and hit detection is awful though.
EOMM isn't the problem you think it is, it's the combination of SBMM (which is VERY poorly balanced in current CoD compared to other games with SBMM) AND EOMM. EOMM has been proven to work and be a good thing in specific games and gamemodes. Usually bigger games with long, team focused modes. We obviously don't need it in TDM and party modes which is what 50% of the people who buy these games only play anyway.
They just need to find that sweet spot, remove EOMM from shorter less objective focused modes and LTM events. Bring back the "Experimental Playlist" mode as a permeanent addition to every CoD going forward and only apply SBMM to Ranked and competitive gamemode types. Maybe keep it in Warzone too because that shit's sweaty enough as is and very rarely do they offer some sort of earnable reward in Warzone; which you should have to work for anyways regardless of personal skill.
They can obviously just take a look at what XDefiant is doing anyways and just have more preferred matchmaking settings. Make crossplay optional by default regardless of what platform you're on, have an optional input based matchmaking setting and just make SBMM an optional setting so they don't have to seperate specific modes in the casual play menu, to have SBMM. With a big clear warning for which modes WILL enable and trigger your SBMM so you can decide whether or not you want to partake in those modes.
(Including a "warm-up" / experimental variant in Ranked, that matchmakes based on your preferred setting so you can tune your loadouts and check out the rotations and rules in the current season before going into a full Ranked match, putting your stats on the line)
Also seperate stat trackers (if they were to hypothetically make SBMM a toggle setting) for when you have SBMM turned on and when it's off, so if you're going into a mode that has SBMM enabled by default, you'll be able to mentally prepare yourself better and know when you have to go full ape.

@@brokenhanz-o4mthe thing is, current modern warfare games already have arcadey movement, and mw3 has a high ttk already, so its unlikely that this treyarch cod is gonna feel much different unless they get rid of tac sprint or something
In the old days it was low ttk slow movement = infinity ward while high ttk fast movement = treyarch
I don’t think old gen is holding the games back. If anything, the players on old gen are held back. I recently upgraded to ps5 and MW3 is quite noticeably better graphically and gameplay is smoother. Plus, on ps4 my load times were super slow, games would be like a minute in progress usually, and half the textures (especially the ground) would take an additional minute to fully render. S&D would always miss the first round and I’d be killed while still loading in (ps5 you load in and have like 20+ seconds to pick your class before the match lol), gun inspection would only work in the gun range, not in a match, and lots of other minor details just weren’t there.
I agree for sure about pre-ordering. I learned my lesson long ago and now I get it just before the game launches.

I think Game Pass Ultimate should receive all Xbox first party titles at their highest version (Deluxe, Ultimate etc) just like Ubisoft+ is doing. They can add the basic edition on Game Pass Core.

I’m actually excited for the campaign and the story missions, but I’m not interested in whatsoever of what they doing with the multiplayer, I just know that SBMM will be shoved up so far up our as**es that we cant even enjoy it, ill just stick to Xdefiant.

Xdefiant was alright but there's a lot of issues. Its only something to play on the side for me personally. Its not enough to get me to stop playing CoD let alone play less of it. I have higher expectations for B06 than I do Xdefiant

Damn, the talk about pre-ordering is so crazy to me. What was it? Like recently as 10-12 years ago, pre-ordering was no big deal - we as consumers expected a full game with no game-breaking bugs. Nowadays, we gotta have talks about pre-ordering because then it gives publishers an excuse to withhold content. “See the public preordered our game! They are satisfied with the content as it is, we don’t have to spend the money to put ‘extra’ (or planned by devs) content in the game.”
I feel sorry for the younger generation. They never got to be able to go to the store with $50 from doing chores/yard work pickup a brand new game and have nothing go wrong with it. Dang, not only was there multiplayer and Zombies, but there was also an entire Singleplayer campaign that kicked ass.
I know this has been said before by thousands (if not millions) of people. But as a gamer that grew up in the late 90s/2000s it’s just absolutely insane to me that we as consumers allowed this to happen.

The pre-order thing is such a weird debacle. Sure, you don't want to send the message that you want this game so badly that you'd pay for it months in advance, but at the same time, they're not relying on your money. They're relying on the dummies who want to buy gun skins for the price of a full indie game. AAA game companies like this don't care about pre-orders. When was the last time someone said "This game barely had any pre-orders! Good job, community!" and it actually meant something? We're over a decade past that time.
I'm not saying pre-order it, but I'm just saying you're not making that dent you think you will be. They already beat us on this problem with the F2P style shop and battle passes.
I’m glad it’s gonna be on Game Pass day one. I skipped buying MW3 out of protest/boycott for the full price expansion that it was. But recently I’ve been playing MW2 again to scratch my online FPS itch, and I do feel like I’m missing out not playing the newest CoD.

As long as CASUAL MP Playlist have strict SBMM, I won't be buying, downloading a free copy, or have any interest in cod anymore. Last cod I bought was cod2019. And I've seen enough from this franchise. Too many people are fan boys of this franchise and there's no way I would be a content creator for Cod without internally feeling miserable.

Halo Infinite was a flop, Redfall was a flop that got the studio shutdown, and Starfield was a flop. CoD is already not in a great place, but add them to the Xbox umbrella AND make it to where they lose out on majority of the Xbox and PC sales? Ain't no way CoD will stay even half as good as it is now. Bo6 may very well be the last decent CoD. (assuming it is decent)

I’m gonna go against the grain here and say I’m sorta excited for BO6. The setting is really interesting, and I hope we can finally get that feeling of being just a part of a war as opposed to a unkillable spec ops soldier that we had in the most recent CODS. 4 years in development is also a plus. Theres not enough for me to place a preorder at all, and I probably never will but the hate i’m seeing is probably unjustified right now. I just hope 3arc doesn’t drop the ball on the campaign like IW did with MW3, because BOCW’s campaign was amazing

Seeing as for me, Cold War had the most crashes, more than all of the Warzone era CODs combined (& still more on top of that) on PC, I'd have to hold out & see how performance is on this one. I don't want to experience that kind of frustration again. I'll always be a bit wary for Treyarch titles after experiencing that. Tho I will say when I came back to Cold War after the end of its lifecycle, the crashes had seemed to be fixed & vanished completely, so it must've just been an issue for launch & the first few seasons tbh (I quit quite early for BOCW). My hopes is the quality control is good with this release on PC, as Treyarch games do tend to be good overall.

Ugh... As far as the lack of a significant upgrade from PS4/PS5 or XBOne/XBSeries, that's primarily due to the lack of games that specifically target the newer consoles. Just the fact of the HUGE jump in storage speeds between generations allows developers a ton more freedom. We're not going to see those advantages until developers are freed from supporting the older console generation. As far as BO6, I'll wait to check out the beta, and go from there. I'm pretty happy with XDefiant, and don't play Warzone anymore, so not sure if I'll even bother with BO6.
I just hope they do something about their Vegas slot machine of a match making system. Having a proper, ELO style SBMM system would go such a long way.
There's a dedicated ranked mode for that the problem is it uses the cdl ruleset so there's only 3 game modes and half of the guns can't be used
@@Darklord_tK but then the casual mode immediately FLINGS you into a death match when you do reasonably well for a few matches. Casual modes used to have a much slower, more open-ended version of what you described.

Always excited to see an opportunity for a larger player base, so I think GamePass will be mostly positive. Still not sold on the yearly release cycle, leaving behind all the MWIII content, which I think SHG has been doing really well with, is going to feel pretty bad. The era is certainly interesting, I'm interested to see how they incorporate the usual Black Ops story beats into the Gulf War timeline, it's kind of cool to have it set in this particular era mostly because it's recent memory but not "modern" like the Modern Warfare settings.
i do want to note that since this is on gamepass, do you think gamepass members will get the same benefits as if they preordered it?

I'm always surprise that Ubisoft+ includes their most expensive deluxe version and Microsoft is 100000x bigger than Ubisoft as a company. Imagine Game Pass Ultimate include their $100 deluxe version for as long as you have the subscription. I always pre-order for the extra shit if I like the game.
Game pass ultimate comes with xbox live gold, that's why there isn't any ultimate editions for most games.
I can assure you it's not as profitable to give the full super ultra mega versions of games away. Also Ubi titles have much more aggressive monetization schemes attached with fucking "time savers" and "xp boosters" in their SINGLE player games.
No reason for the next Black Ops to not be on last gen because it will be a cary forward like MWIII
