One thing I love is how quiet the shutter is... like no one is responding/reacting, and idk, I just love that little detail in the manufacturing of it!

Really surprised more people haven't mentioned this but it looks like you shot that roll at ISO 640 as the L35 goes from 400 to 500 to 640 then 1000, Great results tho regardless, I have always wanted to see cin800t shot at 640 with this camera. :)

That is a great little camera ( the Nikon 35 AF2 )although ancient. I was a photographic salesman at Sydney, Australia's biggest camera store in the 80s and I sold hundreds, well maybe not hundreds but scores of that particular camera !
Nikon , in my opinion was the top camera brand at the time. They , along with Minolta had the best lenses.
Looking at your photos it seems to me that you've done some color editing on your computer. The colors look more saturated than you'd usually get from 35mm print film. These look more like Kodachrome 64 (or 25) transparencies.Or Fujichrome
    50 or 100.
It's interesting that everyone calls film measurement of light ISO. these days.Back in the day it was usually called ASA.
Great videos ! I've recently discovered you and subscribed to your channel. 📷🎙
I'd certainly like to see more of your photos shot with your Nikon .
Nice to see people using film.
It's a lot harder to get great photos on film compared to digital. On a roll of film you have 36 or 7 photos.
Shooting digitally one can take literally thousands of shots, and by the law of averages you must get a few great pictures and delete the other few thousand.
Shooting with film requires more skill to get great results.
Back in pre digital days I would be really happy to get 4 or 5 great shots from a roll of 36.
That's part of the reason I was a camera salesman...to get discount on film , D and P, and cameras , lenses etc.
And I could be paid to talk photography all day long...

    • @HighHatOG
      @HighHatOG 3 роки тому +1

It’s “typically” shot at night because it’s an 800 speed film. Literally could not shoot it mid day in my RB because the highest shutter speed on there is 1/400th. Unless you want shots that are 5 stops overexposed.

Great shots and nice POV going on! Got my first Nikon L35AF two years ago and quickly fell for the sharp lens and the contrast that it gives me. So nice, I bought it thrice and some. The sonnar designed lens is really good; doesn't have the NIKKOR labeling on it but it was definitely designed by "top notch" engineers at Nikon. It's been crazy seeing the prices on these soar in that time.

Also I believe half pressing the shutter release locks the focus. So you can get something in focus that isn't in the middle of the frame

I think a lot of companies in the 80s made dollar to this one I believe Minolta had one. I have the Rico af-5. On the Rico The Flash function is a little more thawed out and conventional. This is just a button to slide if you want to pop it up and use it you don't want to use it just leave it down iandthe camera will fire without flash and you just ignore the warning in the viewfinder. I think for the night during the trip The Flash to come up in daylight you don't have to block the light sensor and half press the shutter.

Greatest point and shoot ever for me. I have 3 and just bought another on eBay. I mostly shoot b&w as that's my favorite. But one is for color and the new one will be rotated in once in awhile but mostly will keep for a spare. You didnt mention the 46mm filter threads or the 2 stop backlight compensation switch next to lens. Also if you aim the middle spot on your focus area with the shutter button half pressed it will hold focus and exposure while you move it for a better composition, then shoot ! You'll miss a lot less and be much happier ! Thanks for the video of my favorite ! LarryMac

Love your work man! I got myself a L35AD, and love the images, but Fazial quick question, if you don't mind, since you used a 800 iso film, what iso film speed did you set in the camera? Because it jumps from 400 to 1000 (as the manual says, it goes from 400, 500, 640, 1000), not sure what film speed should be chosen when shooting with it

i was really dissapointed with this camera.
Took one to vietnam to take as much as photos of everything as possible
motor drive broke down half way and the pictures i did get before and after were really not super sharp or always completely in focus to be honest
you really need to slow down as it's very easy to 'move' the camera when taking exposures it seems and you really need to hold it still
so far i'm not impressed with the overall quality and this thing caused me way too many headaches for it to be worth the price
my nikon f3 is also much more reliable in general

Mmm CineStill 800T is not associated with night photos because of 800 iso, but because it's light balanced to tunsgram lights (that's why it's T). Daylight photos likely produce colder tones and blueish tint. And because hipsters like to shoot gas station neon light with it for the light halation. It can be shot ad daytime too, but for a really expensive film I wouldn't recommend. CineStill has a 50d I think which is a daylight balanced film, if you really need that old-cine vibe I'd go for that in the daytime and keep 800T for either night shots or indoor artificial light shots
