    I think the big disserpointment is the fact the trainers don't get in the water with the whales anymore, maybe it's dangerous but it shows the trainers and the whales have a bond and that's what made the old shows so unique and mind-blowing.

      it's not worth the risk of having trainers get in the water with the orcas when they could get injured or even killed

    for those who are complaining because the whales are in a tank. . .sea world does not purposely go out & capture whales. . .they go out & rescue the ones who have been injured. . .some of the whales & dolphins are rescued and if they are unable to be released they train them & show them so they still get interaction and exercise.

    It's not as easy as that. Matriach Katina hasn't liked Tilikum since he first arrived in Orlando. She won't let him in with the other pod members. If he got in with them, she'd attack him and possibly kill him. Despite his size and past Tilikum is a placid, gentle animal compared to other whales. He can only be in with Trua and very rarely Malia. Katina won't allow any other whales with him. The trainers aren't allowed near him due to what happened with Dawn. It's for their safety as well as his

    Tilikum was captured by Canadians when he was two years old. He was living in their theme park up there until it went under. Then he was GIVEN to SeaWorld Orlando, of which I am an employee. He is 33 years old and is actually a very happy orca. Please check your information before you choose to run your mouth.

    These animals are kept in good care! These trainers make this one of a kind bond with the animals! Did you know they get resturant quailty food! You cant release these animals back to the wild, they have gotten used to seeing people, get free food, and they are protected in there tanks! SeaWorld is great, keep doing what yall do! And why are yall even watching this if you are a SeaWorld hater? And by they the way this show is informing, it shows us that we can make a differnce in our one ocean!

    • @tippi143
      @tippi143 4 роки тому

      Okay, first of all. I'm not a hater :) Secondly, you sound brainwashed af. Did you know that they were once swimming free and in the wild? I understand how they've become accustomed to their "lifestyle" but why exactly were they put into those tanks? Also, much like Keiko's situation (because you seem to be basing your opinion off of that a lot), Keiko wasn't able to fend for himself because of our interruption. He didn't understand the basic necessities of survival such as hunting because we humans give them "free restaurant quality food" (Restaurant Quality? LOL, send me proof of that. ) The information has been orchestrated and portrayed in the beginning of every show (Odd... they're trying to so hard to convince us? hmm :thinking:) They're not protected from themselves, do your damn research. They are beautiful and intelligent creatures, they become depressed from withdrawal for being kept in a tank for so long. I'm sure you're wondering, "Okay, so what would you do!?" Well, firstly, they must become rehabilitated so that they POSSIBLY can be released back into the wild. If they can't then they should be sent to an Orca Reserve. They don't need to be entertainment, if you want to inform kids about these beautiful creatures then stop the stunts, stop the music, stop the performances. Let them be in their natural state, not what we want them to be in. I'm not saying they should be freed, they must be themselves. It's unfortunate that some people can't see the damage that has been done to these beautiful creatures. It's also unfortunate that these orca's aren't aware of the outside world or possibly even their own natural state. :/

    Wow i cannot believe the size of Tili :s its scary! Lol Well i love orcas and i'm pro animal rights (sorry my mistakes im not verte good in english lol) but i love see them jumping and also that make me sad 'cause they shouldnt be in captivity. Its a very weird mix of feellings. Here in Mexico we had Keiko and was nice see her "perform" and when she died at the ocean was a shame 'cause this animals wouldnt never survive outside when they were all their life living in a park. Well hopely this s

    This confinement shortens their lives and do you tell people how you have to medicate the dolphins because of the stress that they endure being held hostage and the suffering of hearing the wild dolphins at night, crying out in the ocean and how they cry back? Do you tell the little children, how you took them from their mothers? No, I didn't think so and nothing matters to any of you except the financial gain you get from training them like companion pets! Set them Free! Do the right thing!

    Jenna, I really recommend reading "Death at Sea World", a well-researched book. It will sadly spoil the tale for you, but tell you the ugly facts. These are not natural pods: some were born free then snatched away at the age of 2 from their mums and native tribes in the wild - the Sea World orcas all hail from different tribes (resident, transient, off shore, Icelandic, Southern Resident) with different dialects. The aggression is unnatural, see the Kandu V death.

  • @HolBol15
    @HolBol15 12 років тому +1

    The matriach of the whales at SeaWorld was rescued from the wild along with another whale. I'm not sure what happened to the other whale it might have been released but i know that she wasn't in any shape to be released so they kept her and made her life better. These animals do have a bond with their trainers because they spend all day everyday with them, learning, playing and doing shows, just like a dog would. Just because they are huge whales doesnt mean they are incapable of creating bonds.

  • @marsmick
    @marsmick 12 років тому

    the other whale died. sea world very very rarely releases orcas. most recently keiko was released and died. i must disagree with you, it is not a behavioral bond like a dog. dogs and orcas have extremely different wild/domestication stories as well as completely different sensorial and social concerns.

    This is not informing people about whales! This is about greed and money. If you really wanted to show people and educate them about whales ....first off they stay with their mother and grandmothers and so on in a pod for life....so first off this isn't what you are showing them first hand and second off they should have never been taken captive to perform stupid people dog and pony shows! These animals are intelligent and loving and deserve to be in the big wide open ocean to live!

Now they are locked up in tiny pools and are forced to do tricks for peoples entertainment. There have been deaths and attacks at places like seaworld and this is because the ammount of stress being locked up puts them through makes them snap at any random time.

Saying that is like attacking your own allies in helping marine mammals, its dumb. There are cases of animal suffering far, far worse than this. Why don't you focus on those first? We need to hit animal suffering where it is worst, and that is not Seaworld.

    +schweppesm i watched Blackfish, and just ordered my Seaworld tickets. Blackfish is a one sided story, and the problem is, is that anyone who dares go against the movie is deemed a torturer.
    Truth is, if you put all your beliefs into one documentary, or even a few, the whole story is never known.
    In North America, there are significant agencies that are dedicated to reviewing best practices as well as doing check ups on organizations such as this, and if they get the pass, the all clear, there is nothing to argue about.
    Blackfish was also proven to be using inappropriate statistics.
    Using that old company as an example in Blackfish is a great way to stir up people, as they used old processes and habitats, to impact the updated and improved methods that are used today.
    while still not ideal, they are not even close to the way things were.

      @azucarmorena5000 11 років тому +1

      that makes sense but the movie was more about Seasworld harboring an animal that has killed 3 ppl. tilikum is clearly a distressed animal that needs to be freed. doesnt mean all of their animals, just tilikum. he may kill again.

      I find it odd that the lone whale at bush gardens (loitia I think is her name) has lived in that very small pool for over 40 years. That pool is very small, much smaller than ANY Seaworld pool, which I must say, even for a non-Seaworld hater, I find such a small pool unsuitable for an orca. But that whale has lived their for over 40 YEARS in that tiny pool. Yet anytime another orca dies before then, IT'S SEAWORLD'S CRUELTY!!!! or is it? Think about that everybody.

    The thing i dont get is why people think blackfish is the truth and the whole truth .. Because if you think blackfish is telling you true things then your wrong .. For example when that girl got to swim with a whale (katina) for the first time .. Blackfish used the footage and used it with another lady and pretended it was her .... Yes whales are better in their own habitat (wild) but would you rather see them slowely getting extinct or people rescuing them from the wild .... Yeah there are some parks what urgently need the whales to be put back in the wild e.g. Lolita.

    I'm have to go with @Seaworld is the best and @JustAm2, BOTH of the statements are true,
    Because to all Seaworld "Haters" need to back off and deal with their own opinions, C'mon man,
    Opinion's are NOT Facts, Maybe to some people, BUT NOT ME, because there both different.
    PLUS Seaworld is my #1 park, because I've been there when i was 5 or 6, now i'm 20 years old

    All it is is a display of dominance. Shows like these teach us that animals belong caged up. Not fair for an animal to perform circus acts several times a day over three hundred days a year.

    Ever since Blackfish came out everyone and their mom swears they are an activist ready to save these whales. It's honestly just a one sided story that people are hyped about because it's like a new iPhone to them everyone has to have one. Stop being sheep people. Yes I agree animals should be in the wild, but instead of seeing the bad which is all that movie contains why not look at the good? I'm a SeaWorld employee and please tell me if you guys have saved for 10,000+ animals and released them in the wilds and also I can tell you who to write the check to for 50,000,000$ for animals and protecting our earth. Don't judge a company because of footage that is literally 30+ years old. Older than me for gods sake.

      You dont believe that whales are taken away from family structures that are more complex than those of humans? Great mind you have,,,, NOT!

      Robert Garcia It's real simple when it comes down to it. People want to be entertained and Orcas and Dolphins provide that. People pay a shitload of money to see them perform tricks. It's capitalism at it's finest.

    • @ZebraLens
      @ZebraLens 9 років тому

      Robert Garcia I agree, no one gives SeaWorld credit when it comes to animal rescue. They have done this for several decades.
      No one remembers them stepping in to help during the Exxon Valdez spill and then again during the Gulf Oil spill, plus everything in between. They didn't look for any credit.
      Plus I don't know why people are thinking that SeaWorld took Tilikum from the wild since they actually got him from a park in Canada that was closing, and since he wasn't able to survive in the wild, they decided to care for him instead.

    • @ZebraLens
      @ZebraLens 9 років тому

      ***** We know so much about these animals because they are here at places like SeaWorld. If they weren't then people wouldn't care enough to save them in the first place. Because humans out in the wild are destroying habitats and killing off animals everyday, and its because of places like SeaWorld, that we can learn about them, and how to save them.

    i really do not want to get in any sort of argument, but all you people bashing SeaWorld should go boycott a circus. circus animals have it awful! it makes these animals look like they have it absolutely perfect! circuses need to be everyone's main focus right now!

    How could anyone say this is alright?animals are not ours to exploit!orcas are wild creatures that do not deserve their short lives in slavery.i cant believe this cruelty is even legal.SeaWorld confines whales and dolphins-who often swim up to 100 miles a day in the wild-to tanks that, to them, are the size of a bathtub.Also, preforming the same show day after day, and the noise of the crowds, puts stress on the animals.look it up and you'll understand why captivity just doesn't work.

    Wanna hear a sad story? Read about Keiko, the whale who played Willy in Free Willy. She was kept in a tiny tank in Mexico, was never at Seaworld. When they released her into the wild, she died a short time later. These whales were bred in captivity. This is all they know. You don't declaw a cat and then set it free.

    Tilly is only socialized with one other orca, because he is a bull, and there is too great a risk of injury, pregnancy (with him fathering most of them, thats not a good idea....) and safety. What if a new whale was placed with him and,being significantly bigger than the others (seriously, have you seen him vs. the others?) he could really inflict some serious damage Then you'd harp that he hurt it..The whales are moved many times daily from pool to pool to have excersize and enrichment time.

    So what was the reason for banning trainers from riding the ocras? The show doesnt look as fun without that.

    • @tigerplayz5776
      @tigerplayz5776 3 місяці тому

      It was banned after one of the trainers was killed by an orca after she was dragged into the tank by a orca. Tilikum.
      Look up Tilikum and you'll see why.

    @TheTriggerTrombonist 15 whales were born in captivity. Only 5 whales were captured in the 1970's. Tilikum was captured by Sealand in Canada.

    I agree with you, artistemaudit, that book is very insightful and in ways very painful to read. Though, truthfully, these pods are becoming much more natural. The majority of the whales at Sea World now were born there (not saying that thats a good thing) and are with their mothers (there are exceptions, like Sumar or poor Nalani), it's mainly the matriarchs, like Katina or Tilikum (sire), that are the result of the horrific acts in the 70s. The Fall of Freedom and the Cove reduced me to tears.

    One Ocean to me "it's like an educational/ enviorrment changing show" because people do some dumb things, but most people make mistakes and regret them, animals like Killer Whales don't know whats right from wrong, especailly Tillikum, he's my favorite one since I've been going to Seaworld when I was 5 or 6 years old, now I'm about to turn 20 years old, I've learned from camp Sea World when I was a little guy that yes he doesn't know his own power, but loves to Interact with the trainers
