    I've been playing for over a decade now but learned Aran Boat a few months ago. It can be a great tune to learn, to train your ear especially, if you only listen/watch it. ;) And beautiful in addition !

    Would you suggest a Fullsicle Harp by Harpsicle for a first harp with a Celtic feel? I've been saving up and their special edition looks so beautiful. I've watched a few UA-cam videos and some people like it, but I would appreciate your advice, if you please! I've been watching your channel a bit; I live in an area where there aren't any harpists to teach, so I've been watching closely! Thank you so much!

      Hey Amanda 🤗 We have a brilliant Facebook group called Learning the Harp Together, which has loads of harp players on with varying experience. I think it would be super helpful to hear from a collection of people about their experience and thoughts! I'd recommend that you ask there for a general feel. It's also wonderful to be able to journey with others who are learning too 😁🥰 xx Nicole, LTH Team Member

    H! I love your videos..
    I’m also very very left handed..
    My
    Brain wants to rest my harp(22string lap harp) but then I find myself having to loom through the harp to see my dom hand. Putting it on my
    Right shoulder feels akward but feels right for my hand??!!?
    Any tips for the lefties out here❤🎉

    • @LearningtheHarp
      @LearningtheHarp  Рік тому +2

      Hi Tracey! It’s important to rest your harp on your right shoulder, because that will enable you to change the levers when you get further along in your playing. It sets you up for your right hand to play high notes and your left hand to reach the bass notes. This position feels uncomfortable for most people when they start - for right handers it feels weird to not be able to see their left hand fingers while they’re playing (you see the back of the hand, not the finger tips), and for left handers you’re peering through the string to see your right hand. So if you’re finding yourself relying on your eyes to guide your hand, and straining your body to try and see, I think the solution is to practice a little bit with your eyes closed, focusing on how your body *feels* when it’s in the correct position. A lot of harp playing is dependent on how the hands feel, without being able to see everything clearly. Hope that helps! ❤️

      Hi Gwen, that’s lovely! We have a few on our website and all of them you can buy as PDFs, download and then print (www.learningtheharp.com/product-category/sheet-music/), but you can also look at Cindy Blevins’ arrangements which you can find on her website. I’m not sure the website address but you can Google “Cindy Blevins Harp Sheet Music” 😊👍🏻

Please send an email to hello@learningtheharp.com and let Glenda know if this is a card you have used successfully on other websites, and is it definitely still working? She will help you figure out what went wrong so you can get your course as soon as possible! 😃

    How many strings does this harp have? 😊

    • @LearningtheHarp
      @LearningtheHarp  Рік тому

      This one has 34 strings which is great if you can afford to make that investment up front. But if that’s a bit much for you to spend, I’d suggest getting 26 strings because you can play pretty much all beginner pieces and some intermediate ones too 😊 If you absolutely have to get 22 strings, make sure it’s C to C, and know that you’ll have to adapt some pieces to fit on your harp. 👍🏻
