I was playing in a pathfinder game and one of the other players played as a trox barbarian. He had horrible mental stats but all his physical stats were almost perfect. His character also really hated goblins. So whenever he saw a small sized humanoid he would just scream "GOOOBLLIINNNN" and run at it with a greatsword. So many innocent gnomes were slaughtered is all I can say.
i found this while i was making a trox character. since the other characters can't pronounce his name, they call him cuddle bug because he runs up and 'hugs' his enemies to death
I was writing a backup character for the campaign I'm in and one of the ideas I had was a trox shifter using a subclass oozemorph. By the time I was done writing the it up and had an absolutely horrifying level of strength and the Absurd ability to stuff himself to in tiny holes, up walls and dig through the floor. Another insectoid race that add you might consider though is the diopsid. You can find them in the dragon compendium D&D 3.5 or one of their dragon magazines though I'm not sure which . They're medium size category four-armed Beetle people with a couple of interesting and helpful abilities. They have the ability to dual wield two-handed weapons or hold a weapon one size category larger with less penalties which can lead to some comedic builds of a giant bug man with dual wielding hammer screaming for vengeance of all the bugs that have been stomped on. Their ability to wield large weapons goes great with their perfect ambidexterity which allows them 2 fight with two weapons with a lower penalty and ignore that exterity requirements of two weapon fighting feats. Amongst their other abilities are indefinite slow fall and bioluminescence which at is pretty flavorful and can come in handy and specific situations. When it comes to Stats they're pretty balanced with a bonus to Constitution and a penalty to intelligence and dexterity leaving you with a big tough slow and stupid Bug Man. They have both natural armor and the ability to wear armor but with the downside of it cost more to make their armor. The interesting comparison to something like the umber Hulk which is a monster where the diopsid is much more balanced and player friendly.
This one campaign stuck in my head when you started to really get in to the hulk. If the party was assembled before the introduction of this character (for what ever reason) I want to introduce the umbra hulk during a quest/side quest where the party has to hunt/probably exterminate a group of an underground race - kobolds, gerblins, and other small but not easy/fun/quick to deal with. Well the party stumbles across one dead body after another. Triggered traps, death and destruction, small examples of the umbra hulks abilities. Really set the scene. The lavel “ 343 guilty spark” is actually a great example of this. Any way you get to the final room or something and there be the gerblins huddled on stone and the the umbra hulk player grabs one and pulls them under. Not to be seen. Slowly and steady picks off the umbra hulk player picks off the remaining gerblins. I don’t know where to take it but like.
Since you are with the insect thematic, have you seen the gorgeous Thriae? Give them a look, they have a very interesting society and character traits. I can assure you won't 🐝 disappointed (Oh god kill me)
Honestly, I know little about the dungeon and dragons and the pathfinder, but I really like to learn something new about different races, monsters, creatures... and I have never heard of these three. This is very interesting, thanks for the new information. However, I wonder if there are any other similar insectoid races there? It seems to be. Should I wait for a video about them?
An Umber Hulk could also bei Player as a Monster tamed by an other Player. Thats how I did IT ans IT Turmes Out pretty well. My Charakter had a -5 to intelligenz and charisma and a -3 to wisdom. Every time WE fought againat enemis bei can Charm, my charackter totaly sucked. When I was charmed my friend hwo played as my "Tamer" had to make a animal Handling Check with the difficulti of the Charm effeckt. If he failed,I attacked my compenions. It hast caused a Lot of trouble during the Game nur it also was super funn.
Really fun idea, Sounds like a bit of monster battling could be a fun way to to include the whole party. did they have special moves for you to perform?
Playing a Trox brawler. My bonus to grab is +31. Im able to one shot mooks by auto critting grappled enemies. If something isnt a major threat i just grab and bury the enemies.
A fun were could be to start of smal and as you lvl up you also gets bigger. With this your ac might be howelbel after the growed for a day pr two as your new armor hards to be higher than before
Nope you're more than welcome to suggest ideas for the next video, I have a few in mind but not decided on one yet. I might do a pole this week if I narrow it down.
@@Rookzer0 Appreciate it have some insane ideas but i guess for now the Girtablilu(Cause bards should not forget about the scorpion centaur girls), Maftet( or the sphinx girls) both from pathfinder and the Draegloth(minus the basic intellect part and also most fiend blooded characters tend to follow the Tiefling template).Regardless what you introduce next, will be waiting for the next video.

always a great use of an umber hulk. really sink into that horror movie monster vibe.
@@Rookzer0 Yes, but also
Umber Hulk player: Hi guys I’m Jeff, would you like a snow cone
While not exactly on theme, Thri-Kreen from D&D’s Dark Sun setting also fit with the playable bug-boys.
They do! I'm not sure if I should do a new video for them or not.
@@Rookzer0 Maybe a “Why you should play in Dark Sun” video that brushes on them as well as other unique races like the Mul?

Really cool idea! I think it would be pretty easy to build out!
Umberhulk lycanthropy. Hi, and welcome to nightmare fuel.
That indeed sounds like nightmare fuel. But I'd allow it
As someone who loves unorthodox races even I didn't imagine this, also is there a poll too vote to see which race you might go into next ?

I don't trust anyone who DOESN'T have a weakness to Neil Patric Harris.
The brain bug.....
MrRhexx what they don't tell you about umber hulk's.
