I saw Charlie Musselwhite at the Rudyard Kipling in Louisville KY in the early to mid 1990s. I had never heard of him and there were maybe 150 people there. I did not know that such things were possible on a harmonica or that the blues could feel like this. I knew that I was in the presence of a giant. Thanks be to God for the incredible spirit, Hayden Smith, my father-in-law, who took me to see him. Ben Harper, I admire you for reaching out to one of the greats to help him have another day in the sun.
I met Mr.'s Harper & Musselwhite backstage at an awards show a few years ago (I was volunteering) and introduced myself, shook their hands and congratulated them on their win. Ben couldn't have been more gracious, he really seemed like a great guy. I told Charlie, "You're a living legend, I can't even believe I'm talking to you." He smiled and said, "You've got great taste, Danny!" LOL
Anyone who has seen these guys live knows what love of life is, know what true music is, and know how to appreciate musicians who gives their heart to make us all happy. I am so grateful to people like this.
I just love this music it is soooo clean and honest and true to itself. Just like the musicians singing and accompanying it. Dynamic music from two innovators!
Met him last night and asked him to write a book, his history and knowledge of so many things is countless. Just the musical facts of songs and the artists he knows is incredible. I hope someone can get with him.
Thanks Ben Harper for Keeping the Blues Alive ! Thank you respected Master of Blues Harp ... the one and only American Treasure Mr.Charlie Musselwhite. So cool that hundreds of thousands of youngsters (sure to be millions on this riff) are hearing this Fine American Born Music.
This IS THE SOUND! Engineering mixed with the right players and their great instruments and amps !! This is the sound...ANALOG , TUBES, Reverb , Pushed to the brink !
Was fortunate to meet Charlie in Burlington, Vt years ago And then in South Royalton in that same beautiful state. Having loved his music from Stand Back days, I want to say what a gentleman! So glad he is faithful to his love of blues.

I have always Loved Ben Harper, and Charlie Musselwhite, but I never knew this shit existed, I am constantly amazed at the internets ability to find great shit for me.
Yes...'UA-cam' is an idiot savant. Lol, I do promo & I'll search & also try every arrangement of an artists name or band, track, album etc. & once in a while it will bring up a song that the artist doesn't remember they recorded or had no idea had been uploaded to the internet (UA-cam)....but sometimes it shows me the same 'duds' over & over even though I spend a fair amount of time answering it's survey questions after I click 'not interested.'

We seen them in Nashville 2018!! Awesome!!
Why would blues ever die? it's like saying music will never die man..
Because other genres and styles have been, essentially, discarded... But blues never will be
I wish this extend version was on spotify, a full harp solo and that guitar at the end.. Too good
