I think the best season to take the ride is during or after the rainy season, the scenery changes a lot! I experienced it back when there was no chepe express and you were allowed to stand between the train cars which didn’t even had windows plus they had a longer stop in divisadero for pictures or buying a gordita. I loved it back then. Also the route back then went all the way to Chihuahua city.
I am glad I got to watch this plus vid of Creel. I now know why we are so lucky to live in the land of Oz with so much scenery. Do hour self a favour and check out the train the Savanahlander in Nth Qld. Best 4 day trip ever .i went on that 2 mths ago and cheap as well. It seems getting to ride Cheppe express is also complicated
🇺🇸 Ok amigos let's get one thing straight. You know I'm not one of these people to sit there and pretend things are perfect on UA-cam for views. I don't give a shit. I've only a few months left of doing this. There is no way on EARTH that I am going to sit there, put on an Oscar performance and pretend I had a great time. I mean no bad feeling at all towards Chepe Express or its employees, I simply wanted to give you an honest review and PROVIDE OTHER OPTIONS which are highlighted in the video to avoid YOU having to spend $150USD on something that (in my opinion) is not worth that price, particularly during the last few years when so many of us are not in a great place with our finances (including me! Especially after this!). Three things I hope Chepe will improve - - Cleaning - Quality of food - Customer Service These three points are integral elements of the offer. I think if these had been better, I wouldn't have been such a Karen in Walmart. Of course, the views can't be helped and as mentioned, a better option may be stop off at each location Next up LOS MOCHIS! A continuación LOS MOCHIS!
Oh wow! I paid $800 mxn or about $40 usd per person on the regional. The price you paid seems insane! That is like two nights in a very nice hotel in Mexico.
Now $40 is the price I would expect to pay! It's funny, I checked the video I did in Serbia last year of a tourist mountain train line (admittedly very different and only about 3 hours), the total ticket price was less than the cost of the Chepe burger! LOL
Hey David, so just wanted to provide some context to what you experienced on the train. El Chepe is owned and operated by Ferromex, one of the largest rail companies in Mexico, but other than this line, everything else they operate is freight. Contrary to what one of the other comments on here says, all the rail industry in Mexico is privatized. Prior to the late 1990s, Mexico's rail system was all nationalized and had a massive passenger network that connected the entire country and had first class, second class, sleepers, pullman coaches, etc. This was essentially all lost after privatization. The funny thing, though, is literally all the equipment on the Chepe is inherited from the previous National Railways of Mexico. These are coaches from the 1940s-1980s that, since falling under Ferromex ownership, have only received some cosmetic refurbishment. Unfortunately, Ferromex doesn't really care too much about this service. I actually also rode the Chepe some months ago and was also extremely disappointed in many things like scratched windows on coaches and lackluster service from staff. That being said, as someone who has also traveled extensively on Amtrak (the US passenger train provider) I can say the Chepe is 1000% better quality than most any Amtrak train (for context). My recommendation to anyone reading this is if you are thinking of making the trip on the Chepe, go for it but splurge for first class. The two things that really make the train worthwhile and unique are the open terrace observation car (so you can really see and feel the sierra as it passes by) and the dome restaurant car (one of only a few of its kind left in the world). Oh, and yes, I also really wish that instead of the generic music they play, the conductors could occasionally point out historical/natural landmarks. The area that the train passes is full of places of historical significance, but if you don't know about them beforehand, you will totally miss them.
Excellent comment and suggestions - thank you. The Rocky Mountaineer has domed cars and is a luxury trip in British Columbia Canada - but you will have to sell a kidney to pay the fare - entry level is $4,000 Canadian (includes hotels along the way).
I couldn't put it better myself. Everything I absolutely agree with. Some people have said I was comparing the Chepe with trains in Europe. I didn't even mention Europe and that wasn't even in my mind considering I haven't travelled extensively in Europe by train (only UK, Poland, Italy I think). And they were even worse than the Chepe (especially UK - they are well-known for being outdated and horrendous). I get what you say about Ferromex, of course I've seen many freight trains and absolutely I would never associate them with passenger transport. As I said, I cannot fault the bus system in Mexico. It's world class and probably the best I've experienced. Again re the UK, a National Express bus or Megabus (you can tell by the name, it's suicide inducing) are some of the worst I've ever had the displeasure of using. One bus driver from Bristol to London even once had a visible bottle of vodka in his cab! ARGH. So people can trust me when I say I'm not proud of European transport!
No problem! Yeah if you are interested I definitely recommend the trip and would highly recommend stopping in the towns along the way to really enjoy the sierra. My personal favorite stops were Creel, Cerocahui, and El Fuerte.
We Mexicans love to think of Europe and the US as some magical fairytale location where nothing could ever be wrong. I’m sure that’s where some of those comments are coming from, I would just ignore them! If you are interested it is quite a fascinating and albeit kind of sad rabbit hole to go down to explore the simultaneous rise of the bus system that you see today and the collapse of the rail network. As with so many other things in Mexico the story is full of greedy businessmen and corrupt politicians.
Lessons learned: make sure you have at least 10 days to enjoy the trip; don't go directly to Los Mochis and the seats won't feel as stiff; get off at each stop.and take day trips to enjoy the local culture; don't complain about food being cheaper than what it costs at home.
I'll see if I can find out. There's a comment on the Creel video from someone who drove (although I probably should have been clearer, it wasn't the whole distance, just a section of it)
Congratulations sir - you win the "Youie" Award for the most hilarious UA-cam line of 2021 (at 12:08): "Is this the prison train?" (Answer: no, they serve better food in prison). Anyway, thank you for, well, being taken for a ride - and offering this hugely cautionary tale. The biggest shock was that the views were limited and through dirty windows. And there is no way, at 6'3", I could sit in those foursome seats. It would be 9 hours on a bar stool or dusty sofa for me. I had this fantasy that I would be sitting comfortably with a cocktail in my hand gazing out at endless canyon vistas. I still want to see the canyon some day - but it will definitely require a different mode of transport and overnights in the canyon to hike and explore.
CLASSIC! I think in first class it would have been the cocktail fantasy with the gourmet food. This train reminded me of a night train I got in Indonesia once in economy, except that was more comfortable. There was a bit I didn't include when the ladies sat on the other seats in the foursome bit, like I said I'm only 5"10 and we were knocking knees. They got fed up with it too and spent most of the journey in the bar.
@@davidostrowski679 Oh no - how could you re-ignite my cocktail fantasy! I better look for first class videos for a reality check before I take the next step. As for your comments about buses in Mexico - I agree they are awesome.
My friend I feel that you were not in the mood since the beginning of your video. I feel like you believe that you were in Cuba and you can see every corner and even the trash containers to show how bad is the country, but you were not in Cuba, you were in MEXICO a proud and kind country that gave you a welcome sincerely,. Sincerely yours
The whole 'proud and kind' thing is something which often makes Mexico so insufferable, unfortunately, even though that's not the intention. The fact is, the Chepe is overhyped and very poor. It's ok to say something in Mexico isn't good. I've spent literally years in Mexico. One bad experience isn't going to change my opinion that it's one of my favorite countries. Cuba's great, and I like trash containers!
We got a long, LONG way to go with trains in Mexico. Ever since the nationalization of the rail system way back in the middle of the 20th century, it's been in a steady decline. To the point where something like El Chepe can be considered fancy. Honestly, I've been on buses nicer than that. And since you are a European, you have personally gotten to know the continent's far superior trains. As for the views though, El Chepe, in my opinion, still reigns supreme. Especially if there is snowfall. Going from semi-arid Los Mochis to gorgeous canyons dressed in white was a highlight for me.
Snow would have been insane I'm certain! Re Europe mainland I'm not so familiar with except Poland and Italy, but I would compare the Chepe (except the nice bar carriage) to an average class outdated UK train in terms of comfort and cleanliness. UK trains are generally terrible. Mexico buses are FAR superior to UK and rest of Europe. Colombia and Brazil excellent too.
I remember when I was little there were a lot more destinations for railway travel in Mexico, my favorite was CDMX to Aguascalientes, but like many things in Mexico it wasn't maintained and eventually fell out of service.
To my knowledge ,there are other options en El Chepe.Take a look in videos Chepe ,ferrocarril Chihuahua al Pacifico .Tour Barranca del Cobre. Wagons with fabric seats in tourist class, leather seats in executive class, and first class with leather seats and a small table between seats .All this happening in year 2021
We rode El Chepe in 2019 but we rode from El Fuerte to Divisedero. I was the last train before shutting covid. There weren’t many people on the train. We actually enjoyed the ride. We got off in Divisedero and stayed the night and we really enjoyed our time there. Sorry you didn't enjoy it. -Marc
The more 'senior' American guys with the lanyards (I guess they were doing some sort of tour) all got on a Divisedero and got off at El Fuerte. Definitely if I'd had more time I would have done the same as you amigo. I'll be in SLP first week of June! I have to go to Mexico City at end of May for a few days then I'll come up, but that depends on my passport being ready at the embassy, but I'm meeting someone else in SLP around 3rd June so I will definitely be there then regardless
Thank you for your utmost straight opinion. I salute you for sharing your honest opinion/experience. I am currently in Creel planning my trip to the Copper Canyon. Having been to the Grand Canyon twice (the second time was just in April this year) I just wanted to see the differences between these two places. After seeing your video, you’ve confirmed my decision just to take the session from Bauhuichivo to Creel rather than for the entire trip. Likely will be in First Class. Thank you again, love your video!
$150 is expensive if you have ‘economy’ level service. Thanks for providing all of the information and honest experience. This trip is on my bucket list of things to do. I’m also a budget traveler and would be annoyed if I paid that much money and received those amenities and services. Cold chips? How dare they! 🤣
I knew you'd get it Nat! I forgot to add the M&Ms were 50 pesos! Obviously I wouldn't expect Oxxo prices but that's crazy! Don't scrub it off your bucket list! I'd definitely watch some first class videos and make a decision then.
You notice the beauty or lack of it but have a deep perspective. In that way, isn't everywhere on the planet beautiful and, therefore, because of us? Our eyes. I still want honesty! But it's hard not to see you love everywhere. You have to explain too much if the world isn't a non-stop 10. Good for you! Good for the good old number 10!
Hahaha, it is good thing you didn't do what I did and take the Chepe Regional. That Chepe Express looks like a luxury liner compared to the Regional. I am surprised you took the express over the cheaper regional, but it is probably for the best because I am not sure you would like the regional. The Regional looks like it was from the revolutionary days, the only exception being it is pulled by a diesel engine instead of a steam engine. There is no comfy couch on the Regional, no safety checks either, if you want to ride on the outside of the train no one is going to say anything, and you can bring your own food of you want. I was OK with it though, I actually thought it was a fun experience. That said I do prefer the busses over the train in Mexico.
I would've 100% preferred the regional going by your description!! I'll check out your video later! The lack of safety thing and hanging out between carriages is exactly what I was looking for!
You woke up in the negative side of the bed on this day David. Tip always pack face wipes for a body wash!! I agree don't compare Mexico's only passenger train to European one's. Next time go on the first class. I loved the view's particularly between El Fuerte and Los Mochis. I was informed bed bugs were common even in the fanciest hotels Creel - Disvisadero so I stayed in the cheapest and experienced bed bug's
Why is everyone mentioning about comparing to Europe? I didn't even mention Europe and wasn't comparing it to Europe in the slightest. I've barely even been on trains in Europe so I've got nothing to compare it to. I didn't wake up negative at all. Honesty and negativity aren't the same thing! Unfortunately I couldn't afford first class, I'm not made of money LOL The views between Los Mochis and El Fuerte were basically just trash on the ground, the staff also instructed us to put the blinds down at that point so we couldn't see anything anyway!
It was shit and a tourist trap, of course I'd be negative. There was nothing positive to highlight. I've been on better train journeys for less than the price of that burger.
@@davidostrowski679 if you would have gone there with a more cheerful positive attitude .you would have had the time of your life. I doubt that there is a train ride anywhere on earth for the price of a hamburger anymore. That might have been so back in the 1940s Unfortunately, today nothing is cheap anymore. Thanks for taking the time to make the video.
@davidostrowski679 think you started negative from the outset. I've done the whole line, starting in Chihuahua stopping a night in creel, night in divisadero night in bajuichivo the last one with a local family. It's my number 1 travel experience in Mexico. By a country mile. The family took me to the canyon and we sat on the edge watching eagles fly. It was breathtaking. I've lived in Mexico 8 years and traveled all over. Barranca del Cobre is my favorite place.
I think for the price you should have gotten more. There is an Amtrak ride from Chicago to San Francisco that is supposed to be really nice as well as one across Canada. Maybe back in 1915 this would have been top tier elite.
Absolutely hun. I've heard a lot of stories about Amtrak. Don't get me started on Greyhound buses NIGHTMARE! I saw one when I was in Juarez going across the border and shuddered LOL
I completely agree with you. And you really gave me a better and honest review of what the journey could look like especially the inside with the train, service, food and prices! That's very disappointing. I guess probably taking the train and making stops at different places would be the ideal way to appreciate the canyon... but to think that you have to pay the highest price to get views... and even then I may be questing if worth it. I can see why it has bad reviews, and hopefully the administration can eventually make better changes to upgrade the experience! Hasta la proxima. Keep the great job!✌
Glad you agree Jose, I wanted to particularly focus on the detail of the train itself. Absolutely if you stop off at each place, I think it would be a completely different experience. I believe to do that you would still pay the same amount, you just have to clarify when booking that you want to stop off.
@@davidostrowski679 yeah. Your video is very helpful especially while I haven't seen a video that actually talks about the actual train except when in first class which is not the general public! Unfortunately haters will be haters no matter what... and they probably live in a rainbow world with cotton clouds like a barbie..lol 😹
We went to Copper Canyon in a rented minivan, probably a better experience than you had. I remember also going Los Mochis but I can't recall whether I went on the train or not. I don't remember the train being that bad but it was a long time ago (as I commented on the other video)
Aww poo sucks that the train was a letdown. Also, a tip in case you don't want to use 🚽 water to freshen up. Keep a bag of baby wipes in your bag. You'll smell like a baby. ❤️
@@davidostrowski679 There's one in Arizona that goes from Williams to the Grand Canyon. It's very touristy but enjoyable and it's only about an hour long. Vintage cartridges with singing cowboys. The train even stops to get robbed by horse riding outlaws. But after it's just like us in the USA to try everything into a tourist attraction.
Buen reportaje.
Your videos never disappoint! In spite of your disappointing train ride, I quite enjoyed your video. It’s good that you showed and explained everything, so nothing will be a surprise to anyone wanting to ride the Chepe Express! At least it got you to Los Mochis. I hope you were able to take a relaxing shower after that very long day!
Haha relaxing shower in Mexico? Gotta get used to the ice cold water first LOL. Actually, I've been pretty lucky this time considering the region I'm in with lack of water, so no complaints!
In 2018 I traveled in Canada Rail from Ottowa to Montreal and it was only 3 hours but I didnt like the experience, maybe I had very high expectations. The train from the inside made me feel like if it was 1978. It look old the seat wasn´t that comfortable and I rememeber paying $12 canadian dollars for a croissant with ham and cheese and like your burger it was cold and it was a really disapointing experience and by the way the one way ticket cost me $27 canadian dollars without taxes. I think nobody does better trains than the Japanese or South Koreans !
Absolutely amigo. Japan and South Korea are next level, particularly the former. I miss jumping on the immaculate Shinkansen from Osaka to Hiroshima and being there in a couple of hours! I probably had too high expectations for the Chepe, but we live and learn!
Sonora state is well known for an Italian dish 🇮🇪 "Milanesas" try one out! What could go wrong? Maybe one day when your are in Milan, Italy you compare with the original! 🥩👌🇲🇽
Yep, what I've found is, that the MORE touristy it is, the MORE they charge while simultaneously providing WAY less quality... The Chepe express "was" on my bucket list,,, scratch that now, THANKS... Love your videos..
I wouldn't totally right it off, I've seen some videos of first class and it seems ok, but as always I don't know how genuine those videos are. Winter would probably also be better because of snow. It seems like it's something older Mexicans would enjoy or American pensioners. Definitely not for me, give me a sketchy street in Juarez any day lol
Hi, David! What a rip-off... Chepe Express just seems to be a rickety old torture chamber on rails with its own onboard correctional officers! UGH! Here in the US I've taken Amtrak from San Diego, California, to Syracuse, New York. Compared to Chepe, Amtrak coach class was virtual luxury. The dining car was nice and had good food, there was a smoking lounge, a snack bar, an alcohol bar, and an upper level observation car, and all open to everyone from any class. On Chepe, I found it disappointing not having any nice panoramas of the canyon. Amen, brother, you and I both will take our sketchy-ass street in Juarez any day over that sorry-ass Chepe. Jajaja!
Yep me too but unfortunately with the whole Ukraine situation and drop in English students I couldn't afford to take time off work. Now trying to recoup the $150USD ticket price so I can afford to film the remainder of Mexico videos. Hello overdraft LOL
My family and I had plans to ride the Chepe this year. After your video, I think we will hold that ride and go somewhere else. It's a pity that the rail owners don't do anything to improve the experience charging like a top transportation train that in reality seems to be overpriced and a trap for domestic and international tourism. Hopefully, authorities see your video to realize they need to improve the experience before it becomes a crappy transportation experience.
Hey Luis I really don't want to be responsible for discouraging people to go on the Chepe (I feel guilty!). I would definitely watch some videos of first class and if possible, do that. There does seem to be absolute separation between classes which I thought was good actually, but as a result this is why I couldn't even get any shots of the tourist class. Many people have told me the regional train gives a much better experience!
I saw a documentary years ago about the train journey through the Copper Canyon that really played up the experience as being really spectacular. Ever since then that trip has been in the back of my mind as something I would like to do someday. After watching your video I have to agree that the experience is not worth it.
Hey man, I would say check out other UA-cam videos of first class first, I don't want to ruin your dreams. I believe the experience is significantly better in that class, and if you have more time, stop off at each place unlike me!
We took the Chepe train for tourists in January 2023. It was a big disappointment. The train windows were dirty. Every picture had dirt shown through the window. When we complained to the train attendant. She said that the windows were washed the day we boarded the train. Either she lied to us or if the windows were washed, the cleaner must have did a terrible job. Throughout the 9.5 hour journey from Creel to Los Mochis, we were not allowed to leave the train at Davidsario as mentioned in the description that there was a 20 minute stop for passengers to get off the train to take some pictures of the Copper Canyon. We spent about US$130 for the tourist economy class ticket per person. It is very expensive. Consider the value received, it is very poor. I strongly not recommend taking this train.
Thanks for your feedback, Jack. Unfortunately, it sounds like you had a pretty much identical experience to me. As per this video, I was beyond disappointed, especially regarding the dirty windows, attitudes of some of the employees, and the diabolical food. I forgot to mention in the video that the family on the table next to me with the same burger and fries as me actually complained and sent the food back but to be honest I was so hungry I didn't care. Plus being fake polite British we don't do that lol. I hate to bash an experience like this as I don't know the root cause of the issues but going by online reviews it seems like our poor experiences weren't isolated incidents. Hopefully some improvements can be made!
The root cause of the problems is top management, starting with the Chief Executive Officer. There is no accountability and no survey and feedback from the customers who took the Chepe train. The Chief Executive Officer of the Chepe train should be replaced with a more competent leader. This person needs to make improvements, not ignoring customers’ complaints and business as usual.
From other videos, it looks like the difference from business and first class is like night and day. First class looks great. Its kinda unfair because business class should still be good regardless.
Fucking thank you for your honest video. I've been pouring over videos of Copper Canyon and I had this feeling the train wasn't all the cost it would deliver. I basically couldn't justify First class prices. And don't tell me what to do!! Videos I've seen show views that are great but, I don't want to compare to Utah but for those prices I have to go there.
The new mayan train will go thru the southern jungles of the Yucatan, CHEPE goes thru dessert and mountains, I dont ever see any train ride as boring or waste of time. It's an amazing experience for nature lovers.
I'm glad you seem at peace with dogs in Chihuahua. Any actual chihuahuas? I heard they're persnickety. But about cats. This album cover reminded me of a few things. Would this have been better than the music on the train? Ony for a great few minutes: ua-cam.com/video/6913KnbMpHM/v-deo.html
HAY DAVID, WOW... SORRY AGAIN FOR YOUR UNSATISFACTORY EXPERIENCE... YES, UNFORTUNATELY, WATER WAS AT A PREMIUM BECAUSE OF EASTER WEEK AND ALSO BECAUSE THE BAD FOLKS CUT THE WATER LINE FROM BOCOYNA TO CREEL, LOVELY... AND THE TRAIN, WELL, IT'S MENT FOR TRAVEL. AND THE MAJORITY OF ITS OCCUPENTS ARE POOR. THERE ARE AROUND 4 OR 5 POINTS OF INTEREST ALONG THE WAY THAT ARE MENT TO VISIT FOR A DAY OR SO. UNTIL YOU HOP ON TO THE NEXT DESTENATION FOR ANOTHER DAY OR SO. YOU DID'NT REELY GIVE IT A GOOD SHOT I DON'T THINK. ALSO YOU WENT AT THE WRONG TIME OF THE YEAR. SORRY FOR YOUR LESS THAN SATISFACTORY EXPERANCE. I SPENT 12 DAYS IN CREEL AND LOVED EVERY MINUTE. EVEN WITH ALL THE WIND, DUST, AND LACK OF WATER, SURE BEETS THE CLAMMER AND STRESS OF WORK AND THE CITY. WITH ALL THAT PLUS, THE HEAT OF PHOENIX. CREEL AND ALL THE SAROUNDINGS IS WHERE I WANT TO SPEND MY FINAL DAYS AGAIN, GIVE IT ANOTHER GO, OLE BOY... I'D LOVE TO SHOW YOU AROUND... KEEP PUSHIN' ON... PEACE...✌
It's not a case of giving it a shot. As I explained in the video I had work the next day. As a self employed teacher with mainly Russian students who cannot pay for lessons due to sanctions I cannot afford to take time off to spend 12 days in Creel. If I was on vacation it would be a different matter. I made it very clear in both this video and the last one that I was purposely going directly to Mochis and mentioned twice that it would be better to stop off. I usually come to Mexico at this time of the year as I prefer to spend winter in Europe. I can't time travel or control seasons! Lol. The time of year or stopping off wouldn't have made any difference to the poor service and disgusting food. If most of the occupants are poor, how can they afford 3000 pesos for a train ticket?
@@davidostrowski679 THEY ALL HAVE RESIDENT PASSES. IT'S PEOPLE LIKE US THAT PAY FULL. ALSO, THEY RIDE ECONOMY. I DIDN'T MEAN TO GET UNDER YOUR SKIN... JUST WANTED TO SHOW YOU A BETTER TIME... PEACE...
Traveling next to the railroad track and expecting some excitement is a big mistake.Trekking and panoramic views is a big thing in Divisadero and Urique, mushroom hunting in Noritari .El Fuerte is a little town classified as Pueblo Magico where you'd find confortable hotels and world class bass fishing, and Duck hunting.Mining was the main activity in this towns. You have to visit the places and stay there to exploreBy geography and treacherous terrain, this part of Mexico has been neglected by development the way we know it.Is not a coincidence that narcotics production smuggling is been a preferred activity by people of this region.Train system it was privatized by corrupt governments and let it die on purpouse to develop private transporting and fright companies on highway.
I don't think I ever said I expected excitement from a train ride. You know I'm in my 40s right? I have been on a train before. The whole point was highlighting the terrible standard
I haven't listened to your reviews before this, and won't be listening to any more. You were annoyed from the time you woke up so maybe this was not your usual demeanour. If you want a wider fan base, please stop making derogatory comments about your fellow travellers, based on nothing but their age. (You did this at least three times) No need for the bitchy attitude either - you can state your impressions without having to go there.
It seems you get a board just to critique everything around you! I was use to like your videos but I changed my mind. You can go to your country and make some videos and let us know just negative side. If you are looking for perfection maybe you are going to wrong places. Don’t get me wrong, you need to be honest, I got it, but not much negative.

I would've loved a gordita stop!
Three things I hope Chepe will improve -
- Cleaning
- Quality of food
- Customer Service
These three points are integral elements of the offer. I think if these had been better, I wouldn't have been such a Karen in Walmart. Of course, the views can't be helped and as mentioned, a better option may be stop off at each location
Next up LOS MOCHIS!
As with so many other things in Mexico the story is full of greedy businessmen and corrupt politicians.
lol 0.38 seconds. Definitely added this boarding school on wheels to my bucket list. great vid, enjoyed the humour!
boarding school on wheels! classic
Lessons learned: make sure you have at least 10 days to enjoy the trip; don't go directly to Los Mochis and the seats won't feel as stiff; get off at each stop.and take day trips to enjoy the local culture; don't complain about food being cheaper than what it costs at home.
How would you drive from Creel to Los Mochis? Thought there were only rough unpaved roads through the canyons between the 2 towns.
I've heard this a lot! I didn't know there used to be such an extensive train network!
Chihuahua is amazing. Was there 4 days
Wilcome to chihuahua brother 👍
To my knowledge ,there are other options en El Chepe.Take a look in videos Chepe ,ferrocarril Chihuahua al Pacifico .Tour Barranca del Cobre. Wagons with fabric seats in tourist class, leather seats in executive class, and first class with leather seats and a small table between seats .All this happening in year 2021
thats correct .
@@davidostrowski679, well i might be a senior American then. Great we hope to see you then in SLP. -Marc
Thank you again, love your video!
hiya!~ ffantastic footage.take care, The~)
Saludos David!!!!!
Buena vibra!!!!!
¡Espero que tengas una mejor experiencia! ¿Ha elegido turista, ejecutiva o primera clase?
$150 is expensive if you have ‘economy’ level service. Thanks for providing all of the information and honest experience. This trip is on my bucket list of things to do.
I’m also a budget traveler and would be annoyed if I paid that much money and received those amenities and services. Cold chips? How dare they! 🤣
I knew you'd get it Nat! I forgot to add the M&Ms were 50 pesos! Obviously I wouldn't expect Oxxo prices but that's crazy! Don't scrub it off your bucket list! I'd definitely watch some first class videos and make a decision then.
$150 is nothing, I paid more than that for a family dinner.
The bus ride from Mazatlan to Durango is 10 times more beautiful and the buses are much nicer.

Despite it being a huge let down, I'm still a sucker for trains
Yeah I'll always love trains, despite being a nightmare it hasn't put me off further trains in future
Unfortunately I couldn't afford first class, I'm not made of money LOL
The views between Los Mochis and El Fuerte were basically just trash on the ground, the staff also instructed us to put the blinds down at that point so we couldn't see anything anyway!
I don’t think he ever compared anything. David is very good about having an experience and judging it on its own merit
What a negative man, nothing but negative things to say so , of course, even the dogs wanted to bite him.
Thank you for the video. Its good to know what Chepe is. So It makes my decision very easy. :-)
Unfortunately haters will be haters no matter what... and they probably live in a rainbow world with cotton clouds like a barbie..lol 😹
one day I might take a trip to Barbie land

I love Torreón and Juárez but despise Guanajuato or any beach location. You're right!
Ha! I used to do that in the early days! My basic common sense went out the window a long ago! LOL thanks for reminding me Connie! x
And I thought that Amtrak in the USA was bad. The only good thing I see is experiencing a vintage train and it's pitfalls.
yeah I love the vintage aspect, but being confined to your seat for 9 hours looking out a dirty window really put a dampener on things!
Thanks for your honest review. We more Utubers like you.
Train is only useful when there's snow around
Chepe Express = Tourist trap. My experience with Chepe Regional was about the same, but a lot cheaper…
Next time I'm getting on the regional for sure

Sucks for you. I think is a unique experience and I wouldn’t scratch it off just because someone didn’t find the seats comfortable
I hope some day you find something to criticize in your own country.
Well, that was different Crape Express....sorry Chepe. Looks like that journey went off the rails....Still a decent vlog....
Wishing you well!

Jajaja!
a smoking lounge would've been awesome! I'll see you in Juarez on those sketchy streets!
Appreciate your honesty about the train. Only wish that you had done some stop-overs at the villages along the way to enjoy the local scenery.
Yep me too but unfortunately with the whole Ukraine situation and drop in English students I couldn't afford to take time off work. Now trying to recoup the $150USD ticket price so I can afford to film the remainder of Mexico videos. Hello overdraft LOL
go to culiacan and find some culichis
I filmed some videos In Culi last year amigo. TOP TIER CITY!!
@@davidostrowski679 you just did it, racist. That was your intention all along.
👍👍👍
Not many chips in this burger and chips but at least the bun is nicely toasted.
I has made that trip ❤
🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂‼️‼️‼️
I agree with you...its not worth it...
From other videos, it looks like the difference from business and first class is like night and day. First class looks great. Its kinda unfair because business class should still be good regardless.
Trying Indonesia Train
I got a night train regular class 9hrs between Bandung and Jakarta. Even that was better
It's an amazing experience for nature lovers.
desert not dessert
I'm glad you seem at peace with dogs in Chihuahua. Any actual chihuahuas? I heard they're persnickety. But about cats. This album cover reminded me of a few things. Would this have been better than the music on the train? Ony for a great few minutes: ua-cam.com/video/6913KnbMpHM/v-deo.html
This guy’s voice is insufferable.
Just like your understanding of what a value-adding comment looks like hun. Go back to Facebook bbz x
@@davidostrowski679 Nah, he's right. Everything about you is annoying actually
Somehow, we knew you hated it even before boarding.
I think this place have better food envueltos
Maybe they bought those train cars in Pakistan.
After watching this from beginning to end I believe it should be called the Sodom Express.
LMFAOOO
Wait for the tren Maya.. that’ll be a great experience… 👍🏻😊
2500 pesos¿¿ NO GRACIAS
absolutemente!
Thanks you saved me money not to using the chepe, lol
It seems you get a board just to critique everything around you! I was use to like your videos but I changed my mind. You can go to your country and make some videos and let us know just negative side. If you are looking for perfection maybe you are going to wrong places. Don’t get me wrong, you need to be honest, I got it, but not much negative.
Complaints. Complaints, those bloody complaints, stay at home bro enjoy the trip via You Tube
Stop down talking to ppl business, bad .u r no better than others, just attitude from outside. Respect local shut up . peace assho
