I own a 2002 C5 Z06. I am a nationally certified racing/high performance instructor and use it as a 'DEMO' car. It has now been highly modified, but in original configuration, I think the car is fantastic, save for 5 weaknesses, all of which are track related: 1. The brakes are inadequate. The rotor swept surface area is too small and the calipers 'bend' under repeated hard brake application leading to a 'soft' brake pedal.. 2. The car needs an oil cooler. On track, the car will hit 300 degree oil temps which send it into limp mode. 3. The suspension, especially the leaf spring design, makes the rear of car 'twitch' on corner exit, causing the driver to correct using opposite lock and scrubbing off corner exit speed. 4. As the clutch fluid gets dirty, the clutch pedal, when depressed to change gears, will stick to the floor requiring the driver to put his left foot under the pedal and raise the clutch back up. 5. Eventually the car will get the dreaded 'steering column lock' message in the DIC and the car will simply stop running.
Yeah definitely have seen some of these with my past cars, nothing c6z calipers, LMC5 Module, and clutch fluid refreshing can’t help. Do wish it had an external slave though
I agree love mine and cheap fun
I was actually surprised with the amount of attention my 03 Vette receives. It's loved by everyone!!!!
I bought an 03 Z06 back in the summer of 2023. One of the best purposes so far in my entire adult life!!!!
They’re awesome cars, would love to have a z06!
@@corey_vette YES!!!!! An absolute blast to drive!!!!
I like my c5 and I have one with only 37k miles from 2002. Unfortunately I got an automatic and I’m kicking myself.
Still a great car!
