Weirdest thing that happened to me as marine at camp Pendleton was one weekend I was walking on a trail and I looked up and there was a huge owl on a cactus tree looking at me then it flew towards me and landed 5 feet in front of me and grabbed a big ass rattlesnake on the trail and took off! Owl saved my ass!!!

I was on the Safed Koh mountain on patrol. We walked for hours without anyone talking. About 3am we heard someone calling different names. Each name was someone on the team. We stopped got ready for a fight. This went on for ten minutes, then nothing complete silence . It was scary we continued on without incident. What ever it was called us by our last names. I’ll never forget the sound of that voice.

Clearly this has touched a nerve judging by the comments given. Hell man, I'm guilty of it as well. I left a comment months ago and holy crap did I get some fuckin' juicy responses! Some were just downright ignorant. We all need to just fucking chill out a bit. Whether you have served or not, war touches us all in ways we don't immediately understand. Until we finally learn to tolerate and love others as we do those close to us, we are never going to figure out how to defeat the darkness. Not referring to a lack of visible light here either, to all you folks that insist on taking all things literally. I'm referring to the darkness that creeps into our hearts and minds when we perceive a threat, real or imagined.

      Bobby Allen
Because there's ZERO possibility of a SINGLE person in all of the U.S.A. that counts as an American Citizen & would be eligible to enlist, also with a foreign accent?!?
Seriously, Americans CAME from England to begin with, you indeed CAN come from another country & enlist & just take a peek at Hollywood to see basically everyone & their grandmother (between TV/Movies & Music) using a fake Brit accent (usually VERY badly, just to sound "posh")...I have U.K. relatives SO English even my Lancashire-born granny couldn't understand WTF they were saying 2/3's of the time - his accent isn't even very strong or pronounced.
      That's w/o even considering the possibility of a narrator reading a submission/account 2nd-hand.
(not saying I believe what was said, but his accent is HARDLY the critical flaw in this, overall - let alone the least believable thing comprised within)

    • @MrCriminalchris

      @blemishednicely8402 6 років тому +3

      Bobby Allen
WTF are you talking about "phoney outrage" & blowing gaskets/going insane"?!?
I merely pointed out that non-Americans can & do join the U.S.M.C. & that the Royal Marines pre-date U.S.M.C., so a Briton pronouncing it "corpse" is nothing unusual (as they do, even tho it's the French word for "body" & U.S.M.C. "core" pronunciation is actually linguistically correct).
Try fathoming context sometime, you bumpkin~

It was theorised that a civilian scrapper, was collecting used ordnance parts, and either got hit with ordnance from a unit training or came across an unexploded mortar or artillery round.

Lance Roark something is watching you. Trust your intuition. Something or more like someone... was being a peeping Tom. My mom woke up one morning to take her dog out.. in her bedroom, she has a sliding glass door, and she went to open the screen to find it had been cut open going .. a 4 to 5 inch slit was cut going from top to bottom right next to the little plastic handle on the screen .. luckily my parents always lock the door! That’s not even the creepy part... when she called the cops he came to look at it .. he went by the living room windows which also face the woods just like the sliding glass door and found a small pile of cigarette butts on the ground in front of one of the windows and a pile of ashes on her window sill on the outside. Someone was sitting and watching her and maybe my stepdad at night. She leaves her blinds open until she goes to sleep and I’ve always told her not to bc with her tv and lights on she can’t see out but ppl can see in...

My buddy and I had the Mid-watch (12am-8am).
We caught a couple hours sleep then hit the beach to see what
kind of trouble we could get into.
Everybody told us to go check out the now long gone (Combat Zone).
So we headed that way and found a bar that was open.
We went in and ordered a couple of beers.
We were the only ones in the bar (it was about 10am though) except
for this chick in a mini-skirt who was bartending.
She got us our beers and then asked us if we wanted to see something.
    Of course we said yes.
Then she asks us for a dollar so I peal one off and give it to her.
Next she walks over to this little stage that’s behind the bar and steps
    up on it.
Lifting up her skirt she shows us that she is not wearing any panties.
Holding up her skirt she kind of half leans and half sits on the stage
with her legs spread wide open...
We never saw from where but all of the sudden she produces a ping-pong
ball and proceeds to stick it up her snatch...
By now my buddy and I are wondering just what in the hell is she going to
do with the ping-pong ball when she tells me to hold out my beer mug and
    tilt it towards her.
Being the gentleman that I am of course I obliged.
The next thing we know we hear this loud “Poping”sound and the ping-pong
ball shoots out of her snatch and with very little adjustment lands in my beer
    mug...!!!
Well let me tell you that my buddy and I were both doing a “Buckwheat” imitation...!
After what seemed like an eternity, we both looked at each other and said WTF.... do
that again as we both scrambled to peal off one dollar bills and toss them to her...!
So, she says let’s make a game of it, if I get the ball in your mug you have to chug your
beer down and then give me back the ball and it will cost you a buck each time...
If I miss your mug then I still get to keep the buck but I’ll give you a free beer...
Hell, this sounded perfect to us, beers and entertainment for only a buck plus bare
snatch to boot...what’s not to love...? Except we added that if she missed she had to
drink a shot which we’d buy.
    She agreed...
Before we left a couple of hours latter and about $30 bucks poorer we were feeling
no pain, had gotten her drunk, and she was letting us take turns “loading” her up before
    each new launch...!
    Those were the days...

I can relate to his experience with hearing breathing. Me and my wife moved to our first home. Weeks later while going to sleep i hear someone walking in the house then silence. I asked my wife if she heard it too she said yes. Then we also heard someone yelling but the creepiest part was someone breathing like right by the door step to our room. I was so freaked out and each time it happened i asked wife if she heard it too and she would say yes.

I was grunt stationed in the 29 stumps, also did a training in Bridgeport, both places, depending on where you were training, desolate, and you can easily run into some misfortune. About the land nav,
especially at night, there are at the least two to four men in a team taking turns, one to compass and the other pace count. Only in sniper school have I heard of one man land nav. For traininng
in both the stumps and Bridgeport, you are always with someone and never alone. I know in my platoon, if we were huddled in our tents and some creepy voice was calling out our names to come
out, we would not have been in the tents long, we all had our rifles, k-bars, e-tool, a boot, that voice would have gotten a beat down, being a grunt, most of the time you are tired, aching, angry, short tempered, rarely laid since you really have not seen or spoken to a women in weeks all you hear are coarse, loud, shouting male voices, you would have snapped. Also, never have I heard of
any bivouac in the stumps or southern cal, scrambling like a bunch of french pansies because someone wanted to entire the bivouac, he would have lost his teeth from a bottom of a rifle butt. Well, one thing, Panama and Oki is a whole different story, that triple canopy shit can play tricks on your mind, hey, it's noon, where the fuk is the sun? Solo land nav in that at night, there are some teams
that have never come back out, too bad those guys did not show up to tell their stories.

NOPE! A Wendigo is someone who has succumb to hunger and darkness, murdering and devouring someone to survive. It comes from the legends of some Canadian First Nations tribes. What you’re referring to is a skinwalker. A skinwalker is a shaman who chooses to practice black magic (not in a Christian sense) to gain power/partial immortality/etc. It comes from the legend of the Navajo people of the American Southwest. It requires the shaman to go through years of rituals and trials and so forth, culminating in a blood ritual which requires the sacrifice (consumption optional) of someone close and dear to you. They are capable of shape shifting and highly intelligent behavior, as they are still a fully conscious human. A wendigo is generally believed to be not capable of shapeshifting, and at best capable of basic mimicry, usually of their last victim. You are severely miseducated, friend. These are both things that are considered very very real by groups of people, people who have been here a LOT longer than any Europeans. You are perpetuating colonial ignorance.

The first dissapearance story meets all the missing 411 case requirements!!
A military connection! It happening at altitude, water being involved, loosing sight of a person near the end of a group on a turn in the track, , not being able to find them when one goes back to look around the curve although the distance is short, the person being found a large distance away, involving crossing mountains!! The person being in a strange state of mind if found alive...
All the stuff about shoes!! Most of the 411 national park dissapearance involve shoes.. people found dead without shoes or only their shoes being found!
And... Yosemite is a cluster area for 411 dissapearances!! 😲

I love these creepypasta stories, specially these anthologies and the ones about deep sea divers, forest guards etc.. But being ex-military, I can tell you that strange shit goes down in the military. The singular thing that civilians don't realize most of the time is that when a human is part of the military, we are no longer part the normal civilization, meaning the laws we are or were governed by before we became military, no longer exist, so when your part of that faction, they have providence over a large part of your fate. Hence the moniker Government Issued, or G.I. I was just a cook and there are still things that I saw or that I experienced which I can't explain to this day. But I don't want to sound all "Conspiratorial", I just want to give props to the writer and say "Keep on truckin!!!!!"

To Who Ever - My unit went to MCB Mountain Warfare School, Bridgeport, CA for Winter Survival/Mountain Warfare Training, with 3/7th Marines. Our area for training was called Pickle Meadows. When we started out there was about 2 feet of snow the Marines had to break trail thru. My group went out with Lima Company, 3/7 and they did most of trail breaking. We had one casualty that required a Medevac. - - - - - When we got to the saddle, it was snowing real hard and we were a good 6 hours behind schedule. We collected as much fire wood as we could find, set up our pup tents for the night. Sometime after midnight the snow storm passed and it cleared up, the temp took a nose dive to nearly -20F. That was not trying to figure the wind chill factor. The next day the Marine Captain that was leading the group, managed to get us lost, he miss read his map, a valley for a ridgeline. The second day we had our second casualty, a kid broke thru some ice and fell into the stream below. The only good thing was he got a fresh fish to eat. Before leaving base camp, we were issued one C-Rats meal, because we were supposed to be where our bivouac was to be set up, that first day. There was plenty of food, fuel, a warming/First Aid tent. It took three days for the Marine helos to find us and dropped us food. - - - - - The kid I hung around with was a country boy from the mountains of Colorado and I grew up in the foothills of the Southern Cascade Mountains, so we did not go very hungry as we were able to find things to eat, such as beetle grubs and such, we melted the snow for our water and that last day we found a big pitch stump to use pieces of as a fire starter. The platoon officer wanted everybody together where he said they need to be. My friend and I shook our heads and set up under a nice big tree with branches that reached the ground, making for a great wind break, the rest of the platoon moved in around our nice warm fire. - - - - - The next day a CH-53 over flew our position so we added some more pitch to the fire and had a great column of black smoke rising. The platoon officer threw his one smoke grenade out into the middle of an open area, when the snow melted around it, it went out, I had one red smoke grenade. So I cut a chunk of loose bark off of our stump and set it out in the middle of the opening, my friend stomped out a large 'X' in the snow and I placed the grenade at its crossing point and pulled the pin. Had a rather satisfactory column of red smoke climbing above the surrounding trees. Two 53's came back and both dumped out two pallets each of C-Rats, which broke apart when they hit the trees. We recovered enough so we had enough to eat for a couple of days. They gave us a new location to operate out of about 2 miles from where we were. - - - - - At the new location, Sig and I found a large windfall and we set up under a tree near it. then started to collect wood for a fire. One of the city Marines decide he would start the fire and dug a hole in the snow, the fire lasted long enough to melt the snow around it and put it out. Sig set up the next fire and built it on top of the snow on a bed of green branches, that fire burned until we put it out at the end of the exercise. I probably had the most fun in the field on this one. Worked in a warm tent during the day, shared a pup tent with a guy I liked at night, no funny stuff. The company that we moved with had no further casualties, no cold injuries. Sig and I had actually gained about 3 pounds during the exercise, while the average weight of the company dropped by about 5 pounds. We were a couple of country kids at home in our environment, the officers were all from the south and it seemed that the biggest share of the Marines were city kids, except for those who had been to Viet Nam. Just thought I would share this account with who ever may be interested. Please keep any remarks clean. - - - //es//A 70y/o Avid Outdoors Lady (disabled) and A Veteran, 1965-1994.

I remember a strange happening while I was on a support exercise back in "88" while on Veaques Island in Puerto Rico.
    Not unbelievable, just weird.
Myself and a several Rangers were enjoying some down time along the beach in one of the bays (I was not a Ranger).
From the ocean, up walks a Marine (so he states) alone, he comes up to us, engages us in some small talk. He notices we have some conch shells that are still alive. He grabs one asking if we know how to quickly extract the muscle.
Then he asked for a cleaning rod and taps on the tip of the shell, a small hole appears and he quickly inserts the rod, and out falls the muscle. He asks, have you ever ate the muscle raw? Were all like no..
He grabs his knife and starts to cut up this muscle. A cut here, a cut there, he pulls one part aside and says (don't ever eat this part) unless you don't want to walk for about 3 hours! He explains that eating that part is a very strong erectile supplement and that we should trust him. He cuts up the remaining portion and divides it into as many pieces and says there you go. He watches us, we watch him. Nobody sure what to do.. He takes his knife stabs a piece and puts it his mouth eating it. We follow his lead. Anyway... The strange thing is that he was alone, he came out of the water, went towards the base when he left us. We never seen him again.

One explanation could be that the Marine was part of a Recon unit (or it’s MARSOC equal at the time) during a training exercise and assigned to that beach as an instructor and decided to socialize to kill some time which would explain his knowledge of how to properly prepare the local food sources and him being alone, granted this only adds up if he was an E-6+ or looked to be mid-late 20s/early 30s

Good story, but as former 03 Marine commander, I can't imagine getting an order from the CP to "run" if some unknown Sgt staggered into our line, much less leaving all our gear behind. I've been out to 29 stumps on at least 6 different operations, all over that desert night and day, on foot, jeep and AAV's. Patrols and recons night and day. Alone and in units. Never saw anything I would consider paranormal. Not a thing. But there is plenty to fear out there, live ordnance everywhere, men getting run over by tanks or AAV's in blackout ops, live fire, heat stroke, sun poising, rattle snakes, scorpions. Bridgeport same thing, freezing at night, exhausting, but nothing abnormal ever seen or reported during our exercises. But still, great story!

I feel like knowing that a CP wouldn’t say “Run” during a standard exercise adds to the horror/uncertainty aspect of the story, just imagine you’re a fresh butter bar or PFC and you hear that on the radio. Every situation from accidentally stumbling onto a live range to an actual security breach would be running in your head. Whoever wrote that story has some serious skills to blend realism and scary possibilities

In the Eucla Basin it sometimes hits 55C. There was a grader making access tracks 50km from mining central with a new guy. Fully enclosed airconditioned cab. He radio'd in that his engine had broken down... I went into overdrive and sent a crew out ASAP. It was 33 minutes later that they found him. He'd sat in the shade beneath the grader and waited till the engine cooled a bit. Then drank the coolant. He was propped up against the wheel as dead as a Dodo. The coolant was probably toxic but also was was still warm and that was enough to kill him. I felt responsible, I felt all sorts of things.. but in the end I'd trained the hell out of these guys and he'd broken every rule. "Accidental Death" they said. Accident my arse... the Black guys know how to live out there after 50,000 years of getting it wrong.. and we learned from them what wrong meant.
55C with a hot wind blowing from Central Australia is impossible to explain. You love it for it's edge like you love any storm but it can kill you in a snap.
One day they say we'll be on Mars. If so they need guys who've mined in Central Australia. The ones who are still alive after 4 rotations. The ones who obey the rules.
    This is a true story

I was 2nd force recon in 1975, in Cambo killin kmer rouge. We were heading toward the extraction point, dark and silent night. Except for the chatter of angry Asians getting louder by the second. Can’t here the chopper coming. Not good. Out of dead silence, the roar of a Huey and downdraft right above, instantly. We got out alright. Funny thing, the chopper pilot looks back and says “Weird, we were 20 clicks out and all of a sudden we were on top of you.” Weird indeed. We all got out and eventually home. Not 100% of each one of us though, we all have a part that’s still there, and isn’t coming home.

At P.I. In bootcamp, we would be cleaning rifles out on the parade deck. Every once in a while a d.i. Would hand a recruit an invisible bucket and tell him to go fill it up with (invisible)oil on the other side of the parade deck. Funny. Wrong private, I wanted 30 weight oil. Off he would run. Then here he comes back, with oil all over his utilities. I guess he spilled some?

I was in boot at P.I. In ‘74. Not long after a drunk drill instructor closed the bar and went back to the barracks and woke the entire platoon up. Made them get dressed for a march, and took em all out into the swamp. Never to be heard from again. The entire platoon, gone. Strange things happen there at Elliot’s beach. Probably to this day.

Yes sir I’ve had similar experience seeing phantoms. One time I had my headphones on, mixing some homemade music tracks I’d recorded, looked up and saw my wife walk by the doorway going down the hall and smiling/waving at me. I was like , what the hell is she doing home so early. I got up and went to see what she was doing and she’s not there. Called her and she’s still at work, hasn’t been home.

not very related but one night while me and my brother were on a camping trip with the local boy scouts, maybe 2013, I couldn't sleep. I'd been up for 3 hours or so and it was probably 2-3am by that time, just listening to the wind, insects, slight crackle of the dying embers, when it suddenly went silent, a gust of wind swept ash over the remnants of the fire, insects got silent, wind stopped, the little moonlight remaining seemed to dim, probably just clouds passed over it but, it was startling everything happening at once like that, complete silence. After maybe 10 seconds that felt like half an hour, I saw swaying trees or something on the horizon and a TERRIFYINGLY LOUD SCREAM, Like a mountain lion, which I thought I'd imagined or something in the two milliseconds it took me to shoot up out of my hammock when I realized everyone else had shot up too, the insects started chirping again, the wind rushed, the embers crackled a small spark back to life, a few seconds of listening to all the sound again, this time with a bunch of teenagers' startled breathing, one of the boys in the same little hut thing said to no one in particular, "Y'all heard that too, right?" We all laughed and talked for a few minutes about it, stoked the embers and started up a few little logs and sat around it for a few before actually getting some sleep. We didn't think much of it, but I still think of how dark and quiet it got that night on occasion.

South of 29 Palms is an entire town occupied by witches and sorcerers. It is closed all day. At night, the city comes alive. All the lights come on. Many have seen processions of cowl-hooded monk-like people carrying candles into the desert void. The crows are the size of chickens. I once hiked out to Joshua Tree, and made my way back in the night. A band of coyotes surrounded me and then tracked me after I ran through their perimeter. It is a bizarre place.

Few days with no sleep, little food, a dark moonless night, your the only one awake sitting on an OP watching the dark close in. Your head is your worst enemy. A dung beetle walking across the sand 10 feet away sounds as loud as a marching band playing a football halftime show. The worst part is when daybreak hits, and you realize it was 100% between your ears.

I've trained in both those areas . Was in 29 palms for a 40 day cax. I spent a sleepless night in an area that was all black, the sand and rocks were midnight black. I could feel something ugly there from when we arrived . That feeling just got worse as it got dark, there was no moon and the light from the stars just got sucked up by the black ground. Nothing happened but all night we had a feeling of something creeping up to do harm. we didn't talk about it till morning, but I don't think anyone in my squad got any sleep. Next day was awfully long but we were glad to leave the area. I also ran across a buttload of creepy stuff in Germany and the Philippines'. A night on guard- near what I later found out is called suicide forest in japan was no fun either.I never figured it out. Are military areas messed up because we've been there so long? or are we there because no one else will go there?

People have been discussing the existence of ghosts and aliens and the supernatural all together for a long time. The world already has unexplainable mysteries that defy earthly laws. That doesnt mean we need to rework them. They cant be reworked (or at least not with our current knowledge), those supernatural surpass human understanding, as of now.

Sorry to ask, but are you sure the Marine didn't mean to say "29 Palms, California" instead of Southern (South) Carolina?
Because there is NO desert in South Carolina, but there is a vast desert in California, North of the Salton Sea,
and North of The Joshua Tree National Forest, just North of Barstow, of course North of Mexico,
and East of San Bernardino and Edwards AFB.
There is a Fort Irwin there, and a National Training Center, Bicycle Lake Army Airfield, all desert, all miles from nowhere.
    Just asking.

I heard stuff like that about the 324th trs in 2006 Lackland Afb. It was abandoned but trainees would say theyve seen someone walking around when they go over there (even though there not supposed to) and theres someone over there that it seems normal but the person is wearing the old olive drab uniform from the WWII era. Like someone killed themself or something and is a ghost. Nobody goes there. Its probably someone doing it and a couple people get a good laugh at trainees that cant make sense of what they saw. Or to see if they talk about it. The person will say something short to trainees and walk around the corner and disappear without a trace. like he wont finish his sentence for it to make sense.
