It is indeed a creepy snow flake though I still maintain the scariest entity on Star Trek was also one of the scariest entities ever put into SciFi in human history. His name was Nagilum and basically he was a HP Lovecraftian void God, transferred over into star trek with a different name. I always wanted to see him again but we sadly never did.
but good point! a special version of "villain speak" with some treknobabble about why we can't replicate it. (positronic something or other resonance quantum frequencies) (and it also this particular entity really did seem to be a thinking being, it knew what it was eating and was down for it. the other entities went, "oh yeah Phil was the absolute worst!".)
Absolutely! Nothing scarier than an entity that you can't communicate with (at least at first) with a license to consume life through out the galaxy with no specific pattern...
Here's an idea for a future video I'd like to see. Talk about scary creatures, how about mysterious scary aliens such as the Husnock? We already have seen a recreation of one of their warships in "The Survivors," but very little about the Husnock species. One of the USS Titan novels goes into some more detail about them, but I'd like to know more about this race and their warships.
Happy Belated Halloween. Awesome video. I won't lie when I watched DataLore back in its original airing as a kid the Crystalline Entity freaked me out. I found it crazy that Lore was able to talk to it. I also found it sad it gave the location to Omicron Theta simply because he was rejected by his father and the colonists. So the stuff it left in its wake after consuming a planets resources was essentially ....poop? lol That's interesting regarding the Tholian connection. I thought the Crystalline Entity looked an awful like a Tholian but much more complex.
That Halloween intro had me trippn for a few moments. Nice. So a friend of mine joked that Picard and gang should've slingshotted to the past, grab a few tweakers and take them forward in time to handle that crystal entity in a few binges!! 😅😂
When done right, there is room for Lovecraftian cosmic horror is Star Trek, but a needle has to be thread; it needs to be hopeless and inexplainable (Lovecraftian) but also hopeful and explainable/scientific (Star Trek). The Crystalline Entity thread that needle.
So here me out.. they could have a symbiotic relationship with these entities! Remember the Genesis device? So they could find planets suitable for the entities to "eat" and then afterwards use the Genesis device to "renew" the planet to a habitable state. Boom! They get to eat, we get new colony worlds. 😎
I always hate when someone starts out with "Hear me out..." Usually it's the wackiest most unrealistic idea possible on a given subject! So imagine my surprise to discover an insightful comment instead! I love the idea, but there IS one flaw, the Protomatter used in the Device made the planet unstable... So you'd be destroying a planet everytime you used it... Endangering the Entities on top of that!
@@TriAngulumAudioStudios obviously they would have to continue with the development of the Genesis project until its perfected but my reasoning was because star fleet was soooo adamant about the planet/moon selected for the test being completely devoid of life. I just thought that since the crystalline entity pretty much does that in the process of feeding on a planet then that would meet the criteria for star fleet to test/use the genesis probe especially if they could get it perfected.
Sadly, it really just wouldn't work! If they hadnt solved the "Genesis" issue in the past almost 100 years, then who knows if they ever would or could... Making this idea just unfeasible! :(
Well that was fun totally not scary at all. But do a video about Ferengi culture... ... ... Now that would have been uber scary. And it's finally nice to hear that it wasn't a one of a kind lifeform either but it's actually a whole species in it's own right.
Don't forget that it was Lore who discovered the Crystalline Entity's ability to communicate and used that to lure it to Omicron Theta in the first place. For all we know, it may have normally avoided planets with higher lifeforms, but after getting a 'taste' for it, thanks to Lore (who ended up luring it to attack the Enterprise-D in the Datalore episode), it continued to do so from there. Sort of like how people feed wildlife when they go camping, and the wildlife (racoons, bears, etc.) become less afraid of humans and it gets worse from there.
it came down to Lore was at fault for the destruction of the colony by lowering its defenses and tried with the Enterprise as well. my first instinct would be to kill the creature too, since they talked to it to find it didn't mean to take other life, my view changed.
It'd be nice if replicas of the Crystalline Entity were available commercially. Might give me a good reason to buy a Christmas tree. Then again, it might zap the thing if it got hungry.... 🖖😁👍
This was truly a misunderstood species still would love to know more about it unfortunately, after the last encounter, it was never heard from again and any Star Trek series that I’ve watched and I’ve watched them all
Then you need to go back and watch the series again because you are incorrect! The second Season episode of Lower Decks entitled "I, Excretus" features the Crystalline Entity!
Imagine is Discovery used the Crystalline Entity instead of Species 10-C. 10-C was cool in their own right, but man. Hopes for the future anyway. Never thought we'd see the changelings again.
LOL No it isn't, the fans of my channel would disagree... How many fans does your channel have? Ohhhhh... wait.... LOL Cya, Troll elsewhere! You have no power here!

p.s. As to the entity itself, I remember being quite sad when it was killed first time I saw it, the entire episode is terribly tragic.
Good vid.
I loved the Nagilum episode, one of the best of early TNG.
When I saw that thing as a kid it terrified me. I would have nightmares I was running away from its feeding sweeps.
Why was no one interested in learning how Lore communicated with the entity?
but good point!

The Crystalline Entity is a scariest thing to appear in ST: TNG.

thank you for "giant green space hand".
Always welcome! Lol

Im already on it! Though unfortunately, finding the 3d Model has been virtually impossible! :(
Yup, this thing scared the hell out of me when I was a kid growing up watching TNG during its original run.😅
I love the opening you did for this year truth or myth beta canon Halloween episode.
Thank you so much!
@ happy Halloween 🎃
Now I know where it came from, but the way it feeds really surprised me.
Gives a new meaning to "Beam me up" XD
LOL Indeed it does!
Jokes on you, I turn them into Crystalline Hull Plating (obligatory stellaris joke)
I saw what you did there! LOL
ah yes maximum resurse use
That crystalline entity will avoided Star Wars universe for sure
They definitely not want get mining for Kyber Crystal 😂
Happy Belated Halloween. Awesome video.

Love this!! The Titan really deserved its own show. Didn’t these Entities appear in Lower Decks too?
Thank you! And yes they did! That's where some of the info came from! :)
the crystalline entity; AKA "spicy snowflake"
He's alive! He's ALIIIIIIIIIIVVVVEEEEE!
Nice video, but I was hoping for a video on salt vampires. :P
Get me a 3d Model of it and I'd love too! LOL
This is Star Trek's answer to Marvel Comics' Galactus.
Always wondered what would happen if it bumped into the Borg
Probably nothing as both sides would ignore eachother LOL
Where was the entity when the Genniss project was searching for a lifeless planet .😂😂 Could have done them a favor .
Love the Halloween theme
I wondered where you were LOL Thank you! It was a"quick" addition! LOL
@@TriAngulumAudioStudios recovering from a Halloween party and I don't seem to be getting notifications

Lol well that's one way of dealing with it lol
Yeah but then they would probably destroy your starship or steal a shuttle craft to chase shadow people

Maybe the first entity encountered was a rogue serial killer.
If you think about it, the Crystalline Entity is the Doomsday Machine of the 24th century.
In a way yes!
HAPPY HALLOWEEN 🎃 this is a good way to celebrate it.... The scariest to come from Star Trek is the Doomsday mechane.....
Great vid!! Happy Halloween to you!
Thanks! You too!

happy Halloween. like this video
Great! Now I will have nightmares tonight
LOL
I've always wondered if something like The Crystalline Entity exists in real life
Me too! I hope so in a way, maybe not so dangerous though!
Happy Halloween! I wonder if there’s gonna be a video on the Tripoli’s class “Hokule’a”.
What class is the Tripoli used in this video?
The USS Tripoli is a Hokule'a-class starship!
@@TriAngulumAudioStudios Thank you, really neat design.
No problem! :)

Star trek's version of a tyranid😊, like that ship at 3:35 will there be a video of that ship class
I always wondered was there a tie between the tholians and the crystalline entity.
Lol and now, a video to answer that question 😉
TriAngulum, has anyone done an episode on the Gormagander or junior, generally spaceborne lifeforms?
I don't know, I certainly havent... Yet...
Btw, what class is the Tripoli?
It's called the Hokule'a-class!
It'd be nice if replicas of the Crystalline Entity were available commercially. Might give me a good reason to buy a Christmas tree. Then again, it might zap the thing if it got hungry.... 🖖😁👍
LOL That would be cool!
Galactus junior ? I have to wonder if the Borg could assimilate one of these entities .
LOL I doubt they'd care too, or even pay attention to it unless it attacked them!
Fascinating 🤨
Indeed!
Star Trek:TNG's Raid Boss.
LOL
It is a creation of Species 8472.
No, sorry, you are incorrect... Also, why did you like your own comment?

I dont think the storyline would have worked using the Crystalline Entity... Though we may definitely see the Entity again!
Surprised there was no reference to the Cerritos' encounters.
Actually there was! That's where the information on it dietary requirements came from!
Heres a scary Thought: The Borg assimilating the Planet destryoing Doomsday Device from TOS
From my memory the "Giant" Novel Titled Vendetta, deals with that sort of thing!
I’m #1 😊
Congratulations!
a great video and wane are you do the Poseidon and Yorktown classes for they are of the United Earth Starfleet
The baby space whale was scarier. Because babies are scary.
LOL yeaaahhhhhh, no! LOL
I mean nice spirit but it could be a bit more Star Trek-y and less quick what default skin does UA-cam already come with-y :(
I have NO idea what you mean, or what you're talking about!
This is a waste of time!
LOL No it isn't, the fans of my channel would disagree... How many fans does your channel have? Ohhhhh... wait.... LOL Cya, Troll elsewhere! You have no power here!
How that scary
Uhh... You stand in front of one of those Death Beams and then ask!🙄
Something more scarey than the riker leg manoeuvre....
Well.... maybe just... :P
