I can hand on heart say I have never once climbed into my McLaren and thought " This could really do with some more power " Loved it out of the box as it is 😀 But I love these Videos so thanks and keep them coming.
@@ThorneyMotorsport Superb, thank you. Having a rep of your organization I could trust here in Fl. would make it much easier for me to buy, and sleep at night.
This doesn’t apply to M-Engineering OBD flashing. M-Engineering uses a different process to flash over OBD which is more stable, doesn’t have these immobilizer issues, but leaves the immobilizer intact and OEM operational. The other 3rd party OBD flashing tools can do this however and can confirm it is an issue.
You never explained how they would have immobilized. You should absolutely be able to map the ecu through the ob2 port without immobilization. There would be a procedure to get the main ecu to addresses the others on the CAN.
They tried to write the file onto the ECU via obd. It can be done but only after using other software to enable it. Otherwise it can (not always) lock the ecu
@@ThorneyMotorsport makes sense. So writing through the OBD port isn’t the actual problem. It’s the method with which they used. It’s worth the pain to figure out and document the proper procedure. It’s just binary and not because it’s a “Mclaren”. The right way is the right way. Can you elaborate on the proper process so others can fact check their vendor and ensure they don’t end up in the same situation?

Try a tuned one 😊
Always love johns straight talking view of things. Very rare in this day and age. Wish I had a Mclaren so Thorney MS could work on it!
You guys are amazing. Need someone like you in the USA.
Very professional and honest
We have a dealer in Boston, we are looking for more
Did not know that. Thank you. Bring a dealer in Denver if you have the possibility.
@@ThorneyMotorsport Anyone in Florida? Thank you!

Great work by thorney.. wouldn’t let anyone else look after my mclaren if I had one…

It’s genuinely shocking how unprofessional and down right Arthur Daley some car enterprises are. 🤬
For a novice like myself, what happens when you map a car ? If it’s increasing performance? Isn’t a McLaren fast enough ?
They are much more fun and faster mapped, but does need skill
Hello! I reached out to you guys about some spacers two weeks ago. What’s the best way to communicate?
Hi. Can't see any messages? Sorry.

Mclaren LITERALLY updates (programs) modules through the OBD port. Guess they're unaware of the issue.....
Thats not a problem if you have mclaren MDS, but the immobiliser needs to be unpaired before flashing
Flashed the wrong file. Lol.
