Announcement regarding McLaren car sales

We have had some frustrations of late with the quality of cars being brought to use for sale or return, so after a somewhat badly presented announcement we wanted to fully explain why we are doing this.

Beautiful 12c.
This is useful!
No Sound ?
These are just videos for cars we have for sale on behalf of owners, no sound.
Is there anyone in Canada who can reprogram my 12c to accept the lead acid battery?
We have a dealer in Toronto: www.thorneymotorsport.co.uk/find-local-mclaren-dealer/foreign-automotive/
Was going to buy a 570 GT- or S, as my first "supercar", but after all these negative comments on reliability, build quality, I think I'll stick to a super saloon- my Audi RS7. ok.. it's a hatchback, but it's fast, roomy, well built, versatile, and have had ZERO problems in just over 26 months..
All machinery needs adequacy of design, construction, operation and maintenance. Screw up any one and it will bite you in the bum. The third and possibly the last one are down to the owner/operator. However, if there is no oil dipstick, I suggest that is a design fault.
cheers very useful video 🔥
Thank you!
What a beautiful colour. I don’t usually like yellow. The only thing that puts me off is a 570s is the rear exhausts. I prefer the style of the 600lt / 720s
Superb video, there are some premium retailers that could learn a lot from the way you prepare a car! I bought a 911 Turbo S last year, had to reject as it had been in a front end collision, the front radiator was held in with cable ties... I would love a Mclaren one day, from what I can see I would buy from you before a main dealer. The passion is there for all to see.
@DailyDrivenExotics daves new europe car?
❤
Yes please 🙋
Is it me or is there no sound?
@@skittlesgarage these are just videos for the car sales side, will be a link to the ad later today.
That is a good looking car. I have been throwing around getting a 12C. They are a timeless beauty. I haven't seen a whole lot of them for sale in the USA relatively close to Texas. The prices are attractive right now.
Skipped Artura in the £150k bracket
@@apb3251 until I'm convinced the Artura is a reliable choice I will continue to skip it I'm afraid
@@ThorneyMotorsport Thank you for the reply and sure for your reading but that doesn’t tie into the purpose/title of the video which is residual values of all McLarens range for sale in the UK. I liked the video and clarity but it just felt like an oversight as they are plummeting in value. I’m in the market for a 720s could I ask your opinion on seat choice. Leather Bucket or luxury (I can’t handle the Senna seats)?
@@apb3251 and will continue to do so, that's why we aren't including it, until they gain some stability on the issues they have you'd be mad to consider one, regardless of the price.
@@ThorneyMotorsport agreed but they are now in my bracket for the 720s I’m considering which is how I found your video (as they are newer they “seem” (subjective) a good entry point. I just discovered your video on the seats as well. Would you call the bucket seat a “premium” addition?
@@apb3251 I think you'd be mad to get an Artura over a 720
OEM calibration teams have access to more data than tuners and choose the production calibration parameters carefully, for good reasons. If you spend 6 figures on a car and then pay ANY tuner to re-map it, you are taking an imprudent risk, in my opinion.
McLaren fanboys and gals are the worst and most sensitive bunch. When you tell them about reliability they claim their car is just as reliable as a Porsche 😂. Apparently McLaren is the most reliable sportscar and everyone else is wrong. They own the car and as a result no one else can chime in if they don’t own the car especially Porsche driver apparently are peasants that can’t afford a McLaren so they opt for a Porsche. The most insensitive as** Bunch of them.
To summarize: Dont be a show up and an id**t! And learn about cars coz money dont buy skills and knowledge! 😄😄
Broken springs in cars that are, what, 5-10 years old on average? My Elise, which is nearly 20 years old and has been tracked hard, still has its factory Eibach springs, and they are fine.
@@craigyirush3492 McLaren springs are also made by eibach
Colour: Fools Gold Last 5 of chassis number: 10422. Brilliant! Even though it was two years ago.
Love it.
How much of this problem is that McLarens generally are sub-par quality cars from the factory given their price tag?
Willing to bet the few whingers are lifelong employees who've never even been near running their own business, correct decision - reputation is everything in this game and trust is hard won and very very easily lost.
Bravo 👏 👏
Corrosion after 12k miles?? Did that guy live on the bonneville saltflats? I’m with the other comments guy - bought a Porsche. Only a late 981 boxster - but I sleep pretty good at night knowing it isn’t planning to mug my kids uni fund! Yes it’s not a McLaren, but YES, it will always start!
John you are the single reason why I would even consider a McLaren. Straightforward honest talking makes most people feel good. However we live in a world that the tiny noisy minority are the loudest. Stay the course and vent when necessary but stay the course!
Idk why I watch these videos when I’m nowhere near being able to afford one of these right now…
You just said some of them will be once you just sold so how can you objectively say whether or not there's anything wrong with them as you would not do that to a car that you've just sold and make that be known in this video
@@kiwitelevision not sure I understand the comment?
Unfortunately PCP purchases breed an 'I'll upgrade next year' mindset, like mobile phone ownership. Therefore these owners don't care, don't maintain and don't buy anything more than fuel for the next car meet or European tour. Until that is the week they decide to sell and settle the finance 😮
@@Scott555ish that's 100% a contributing factor
You're not selling this to me.
Great video. Thank you.
What a fantastic video, superbly presented. If I sell my 911 for a McLaren I'd not buy from anywhere else. 500 things checked, £500 charge. Bargain!! I'm surprised by the amount of corrosion/ paint/ suspension issues on such young/ low mileage cars. Tempted to call in on my way to visit my daughter, just to ogle the cars!
How many of those idiots are only looking to turn a profit on a car they bought on cheap finance, couldn't afford and think they can treat like the Micra or Fiesta they learnt to drive in. Expensive things are expensive to care for. Keep doing the thing you obviously love and don't apologise for wanting to be good at it.
This is the service level I always got from Parrs in Crawley on my 911. You are absolutely spot on. I know where I’m going if I ever go down the McLaren route.
Love the honesty! Well done sir!
A very good statement; I may buy a Mclaren in due course, and it is more likely after watching this, through yourselves, needless to say. A poor experience with Aston Martin dealership with my DB9 has made me wary!
Very well said. 👊🏻
Mclaren ? Can’t afford one ? Buy from John, one of his upgraded Tesla’s. Perhaps 1000HP, but affordable insurance and almost zero running costs.
Mclaren ? These must be the most fragile cars you can buy.
No, far from it
Great video 👍🏻 interesting comments on the GT personally I love this car and think there is real value in them
I am not a McLaren owner and not likely to be, but this is a refreshingly honest and direct summary of your business's situation and philosophy. Well done! As an aside, there must be a lot of crappy McLarens out there, awaiting hapless potential owners.
Such low mileage with rust issues… put me right off.
Very well said. If I’m ever in the position to consider owning a used McLaren, yours is the door I’ll be knocking on. As others have mentioned, you have no reason to apologise.
excellent content but annoyingly verbose. 1:47 "the first thing I'm going to say..."
dont own a mclaren doubt i be ever albe to afford one. but if i could id be going here.. outstanding company and bussiness owner.. what a great video,, and spot on. iWhat I have found some people with money can be right @@@holes. and I refuse to work for them in my line of work (not automotive) because of such.. as i said to one client.. your money doesnt buy you inteligence now sod off were not working for you
I was told 75% of engine ware is when cold, You never rev the engine hard when cold
It’s doesn’t look good! McLaren seem to have as many issues as JLR cars and that’s saying something
I have a McLaren GT , what I dont get is why let it get into a state , if you can't afford to keep your car A1 then buy a Toyota . well said John , 🙏
It’s a McLaren, basically everything will go wrong if you drive it.
