It´s a shame you didn't compare it to the Original Hyper 212. I mean, we all know that many 30$ coolers offer significant improvements in both thermal and noise over the stock cooler. But we don´t know how this one stacks up against the previous one, if there are any improvements, or if it´s just a colour change.
I'm personally all for RGB to an extent but I love it when companies make their products in different colors/versions for the same price to match most builds
Unlike a lot of the other comments I really appreciate the fact that you compared this cooler to the stock one. I'd imagine most people (like myself) were/are thinking of upgrading to this cooler from the stock one. As much as I like the comparisons to other aftermarket air coolers, this gave me a much better idea of the temp and noise gains I will see on my rig 👍
Wow, 92C with the stock cooler!!! I never used mine. I installed the original Hyper 212, there is an adaptor for it, free but you pay shipping. I am glad I did. I have been seeing a similar 62-64C temp when under load. Glad I took the time to put on the 212 from the get go. 92C is too hot for a CPU, for my comfort at least.
It's funny you guys post this as I had the 212 Black Edition delivered on Saturday the 22nd. It's paired with my 1800X CPU which I've had since launch. I recently decided to get away from my H110i AIO which was a great unit, it just is no longer needed for what I use my system for. And it was quite loud as well. In the 3 or so days since I installed the Cooler Master 212 Black Edition on my system I've noticed no significant differences in my temps, but the noise volume is substantially quieter than anything I got with the Corsair H110i AIO and it's stock fans. Definitely would recommend this unit for anyone considering it.

I've recently used both the Hyper 212 EVO and Hyper 212 Black Edition. The installation of the Black Edition is extremely simple compared to the overly complicated EVO install. Great video. And I would LOVE to see a comparison with the noctua. Or even better, the coolermaster hyper 212 black edition vs. noctua NH-uh14s vs. corsair H105
Interesting video, i was just looking a air coolers today, I have the Noctua U12S, a 2600X, and Sapphire 590, and similar cooling results. No need to OC 2600X, its aggressive enough on Stock self-OC = XF2, and PB2. I think they are coming out with this to compete with Noctua's revised cooler lineup to be release any time now (late 2018, early 2019). Great price/ performance on this 212!
I've used the old 212 evo on a couple of builds in the past. For me the Cooler Master 212 is good value for an aftermarket cooler, especially when buying an Intel CPU that ships without a cooler nowadays. It's great that they have updated the fan and the look but in terms of performance I'm sticking with my original Noctua NH-U12P from mid-2008, using the official AM4 adapter. It was a very expensive cooler at the time but considering I've used it now on 3 platforms (775. 1150 and recently AM4), I believe it has better value overall. I've since only replaced the fan with 2x NF-A15 @7v for super silent operation. The original P12 fan is now the rear case fan, still going strong after 10 years of service.
used the 212 turbo with 2 fans. that thing causes noticeable vibration when reach about 1400rpm. coincidentally, if you google for vibrating cpu cooler, hyper 212 will come out first in the search result.
He says, "only $35" in the video. Does anybody remember when the Hyper 212 cost less than $15 consistently? Because I do. It got super popular and the price skyrocketed (relatively). I get that companies want to make money but this thing was making them a profit at less than $15 and it's sold for $40 some places now. That's just nuts.
Loving this cooler, I may need to get it when I upgrade to a overclocked CPU. My case has massive air flow with four intakes and 2 outtakes and the system my run now never gets above 50 degrees Celsius on anyting...would be nice I think
the 212 Evo goes on sale for $20 periodically. i paid about $17 for mine. i don't know if i would pay $35 just to get it in black and keep it inside a case.
I have a R5 2600 at stock with this cooler and I get like 30-32 idle sometimes lower due too how cold my room is. It never reaches over 60c during games and I set it to ramp up to like 1000rpm around 60c I have it in the Fractal Design Meshify C with the front foam filter out and 2 Thermaltake rgb ring fans 120mm intake and one exhaust and it's nearly silent with very good airflow. At Idle or web browsing/youtube my fans stay at like 800 rpm and the cooler stays under 700rpm. Love it compared to the dinky stock stealth cooler. That stealth cooler got way too loud and my cpu ran over 70c sometimes during more challenging games to play like Assassins Creed Odessey. 32 dollars was a great investment.
Great video! I see a lot of complaints for not comparing it to the classic or older 212, and but I personally thank you for also comparing to stock. I knew it would be an upgrade, but did NOT know it would be a 30c Upgrade. 99% have me convinced to buy if I don’t go with a 240+ AIO for this use case and for the future. And if you have the same CPU/old cooler, you saw his new cooler results so compare?
The stock Wraith Prism cooler on my 2700x is unacceptably loud. This is coming from using a Phantek gigunda something or other dual-fan air cooler in my last system that was basically silent. I also hated the LED lighting so yeah, this product it definitely for me. Just ordered one and am looking forward to the upgrade. Thanks for the video!
Isn't the ARCTIC Freezer 33 Esports One a better performer with similar aesthetics at this price point? I'd like to see a more comprehensive review with multiple coolers from different manufacturers.
Everyone who wanted to see 212 comparisons is completely missing the point. This is an upgrade from a stock cooler, not a 212. I have a 212X, and judging by those temperature results this Black Edition doesn't look like an upgrade. This is not a better version of a 212, this is just a 212 in black. Also anyone who has an Intel build but is planning to go Ryzen will find this video useful, because it answers the question whether they should go for the stock cooler or continue using their 212.
Yeah, but I had to read your comment to find this information out since you have the 212. So many people won't do that. There should have been some comparison to an aftermarket cooler.
@@ankit22sharma There are like 3 versions of the 212 already out there, and they all perform within a couple of degrees celsius of each other and those differences stem from the different fans they have on them. It wouldn't be ill-advised to just assume that this fourth 212 is performing within those same parameters whether or not you already have a 212 to compare it with, so if you don't already have a 212, I'd say go for it. I'm sure some other tech channel will make a direct comparison between them if you want to be absolutely sure before you buy it, but this video is already answering most questions a current or future 212 owner would have.
@@dominic.h.3363 I don't disagree with your deduction that they are probably the same but a buyer would like to see maybe one comparison to any other cpu cooler at same price to see a price/performance comparison or anything like that. Your comment is true with its facts but the video gave me basically zero information. There has to be a scale of comparison of some sort that is not stick cooler.
@@ankit22sharma Like I said, there is plenty of reason to assume this has the very same performance as the rest of the 212 product line, and there are plenty of 212 EVO and 212X benchmarks comparing them to other coolers, so those are a good point of reference. It's not like this is a completely new cooler where you wouldn't have any point of reference without seeing a comparison with other aftermarket coolers, it's named 212, so it's most likely just another 212 with the performance of the other 212s, it isn't even more expensive. It would've been certainly convenient to see another 212 in the video to have direct confirmation, but I almost feel like it's redundant, it even looks the same as the others, with the addition of that plate at the top. 212s have always had the best cooling performance for their price, so if you want to buy one to replace a stock cooler, this video already tells you everything you need. If you already have a 212, it's common sense not wanting to replace it for the same product in black, expecting a notable performance improvement.
A comparison to the Hyper 212 EVO/212X would've been good as well to see what (if any) improvements there are performance wise. But I'm glad to see they did away with the X-Frame mount that was on the 212 EVO/X and went with the mount from the 212 LED for a more stable and firm mount. And on top of that they got rid of the bad plastic mounts for fans that crack and get brittle over time where as the metal clips should last the lifetime of the cooler. Quite the improvement design wise. And of course it's BLAAAAAAAAAAAAACK.
I'd like to know how this compares to the original 212 which is $5 less. Not worried about the cost but rather whether there is a penalty due to the black coating.
I'd be interested to see a comparison with the older Hyper 212s. I'm currently running a 212 Evo, myself. Is there an appreciable difference between them? Has the cooler itself been improved, or is it just a black paint job and some better fans?
Can you compare it to the Freezer33? Im pretty suprised about how well that one performs and chose it over the og 212 one because of color in a build i did earlier in the year

A sequel to the only CPU heatsink that matters for budget gamers? Bloody fantastic!
Back in Black! I spin the fan. It's been so long and I'm glad to be back!
Ooh a fellow car enthusiast :) greetings from Straya
used the 212 turbo with 2 fans. that thing causes noticeable vibration when reach about 1400rpm. coincidentally, if you google for vibrating cpu cooler, hyper 212 will come out first in the search result.
i still have the original hyper 212 somewhere packaged up for an emergency (got a full loop in my rig) use! it was and still is great !
Yes... This will do well for my R5 3600!
How did it go?
Dark cooler is what made me love be quiet, but with this.. 😍
if matte black became the new rgb, i would love it
He says, "only $35" in the video.
I had to resub just now, I don't remember unsubbing
I would love to see a comparison between this and the Arctic freezer 33 eSports one.
Me too
the 212 Evo goes on sale for $20 periodically. i paid about $17 for mine. i don't know if i would pay $35 just to get it in black and keep it inside a case.
I think that 2700x is not using wraith spire
@@1GTX1 Ah yes. It's the Wraith Prism. Good call. 👍
I spray painted the original 212 matte black, turned out great
5:17 when your own pc is louder than the vid
I think the vid itself is louder than the cooler XD
Isn't the ARCTIC Freezer 33 Esports One a better performer with similar aesthetics at this price point? I'd like to see a more comprehensive review with multiple coolers from different manufacturers.
It should be a better performer but as you, I am still waiting for some replies from people so that I can finally decide...
He is right, there should be comparisons.
I love black color said the black man. Nice review!
I have this bad boy for cooling my ryzen 2600 with the exact same case, and I freaking love it.
Which is better in terms of performance and aesthetics?
Cooler Mastwr Hyper 212 Black edition Vs DeepCool Gammaxx Gt
same
A comparison to the Hyper 212 EVO/212X would've been good as well to see what (if any) improvements there are performance wise.
Cooler Master Hyper 212 Black
ABOUT TIME!!! LOL.. Glad to see CM update it so customers can stop painting them their self.
Black just ahhh!...That satisfying colour ooof!
Bro what're you filming with? The quality is amazing
Been rocking the original since it was created - so good in push/pull.
difference between this and evo?
4:18 "Now I also did some Overcocking"
How does it fare against the older hyper 212X is still a question? Does it offer better cooling or is just a same cooler with new asthetics??
I'd be interested to see a comparison with the older Hyper 212s. I'm currently running a 212 Evo, myself. Is there an appreciable difference between them? Has the cooler itself been improved, or is it just a black paint job and some better fans?
To what freq u r able to oc ur 2600x? And what voltage did u use?
And can u write for me what u said from 2:50 up to 3:05 cause I didn't get it
4.15GHz at 1.425V
@@eber.antony can it go higher with freq like 4.2 or 4.3 or is it impossible with 2600x?
1:37 boi why would anyone use a cheap and small cooler for threadripper?
Why you didn't show the temps of 212 at 2000rpm at full load? damnnnn
Can you compare it to the Freezer33? Im pretty suprised about how well that one performs and chose it over the og 212 one because of color in a build i did earlier in the year
hyper 212 is probably is the most famous aftermarket cpu air cooler in the entire air cooler history, probably sold the most too.
Even if they didn't add new heatpipes or anything the black paintjob makes it look less cheap
Hello, "HardwareCanucks":
How does this compare w/ the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO cooler?
I've got that 1, & I wondered about any difference between these 2?
Thanks for a GREAT! review.
Have a GREAT day, Neighbor!
