My husband wrote a song about me and played guitar and sang to me at our wedding. Got the best pic ever of him playing and me grinning like a Cheshire cat. Sigh....43 years later he still makes my heart sing.

I love this channel don't get me wrong but... Everything about it makes me jealous!!! I hated my dress even though I paid for it to be made. Looked nothing like what I asked for! My wedding planner left Hawaii before we got there! The photographer didn't do as I asked, down to not taking pics of my ring. It was a disaster! I never even got to wear my after ceremony dress! I sold it at a garage sale. Could you help me do it better this time?

It's not positive to portray surprise proposal as a good thing. In this case the bride liked it, but other people may feel embarrassed/put on the spot. Also, they may or may not have talked about their plans for marriage before this, but the way this show portrays the proposal misleads women that they should expect a proposal like this when "it's time" without talking about it with their partner first.
I’ve always wondered about very public proposals. What if the answer is no? That’s embarrassing.
If not talked before it’s a risk they’re willing to take. That’s it!!!
If someone’s embarrassed about being proposed to then likely the groom has no idea who the bride is or what she wants. in that case saying no in front of others is not wrong it’s the right thing to do. If a future husband doesn’t know when or when to ask the question he’s obviously not marriageable. that’s one reason why it’s customary for the man to ask - if he doesn’t get the proposal right (tailored to the bride and how shy or how ready she is) then he’s obviously not sensitive enough to be a husband or a father.
Public proposals can be lovely, she obviously likes being with a man who is relatively famous, she was fine with it. and she was the one mentioning the CMAs etc, she obviously wants the public attention.
