Hi Robbie! Wanted to share my thrift store score...I found 8 umbrellas at random shops...I stripped the fabric off and center the umbrella in middle of container to then drape tulle over it...works best for me and I don't need to create a structure over, like flexible pvc tubing or makeshift canopies...thanks 4 the inspiration!
I really like the $5.00 ten gallon totes from Dollar Tree. I had to order a nine pack of them on their website, because they didn't have them in their store. Between the totes, tulle, and irrigation tubing, I'm on a roll! Thanks for sharing all your awesome gardening tips! 🥰
But that was good you got the totes from them, I really like those totes, I have bought a bunch. I believe I have a video on how I make a hood to protect the young plants from that tote. But I’ll do it again and show how I’m planting in the totes now because I just love them.❤️❤️❤️
Dog kennel, I LOVE it! Greenhouses seem to fall apart so fast. I suppose you have a video on how you got the dog kennel or maybe where you purchased it for a decent price because I’m pretty sure those can be expensive.

Hello miss Robbie and Mr Gary and fur baby Zoe thank God for the rain so happy I just absolutely love watching your videos miss Robbie so enjoying and relaxing god bless love you guys and Zoe ❤
I moved my jalapenos, habanero, and meyer lemon out of the garage today after our freezing nights. My meyer lemon has flower buds. This could be the first year I get fruit! So happy to see you guys are getting a manageable amount of rain.
I was on a cruise ship for 5 added days because hurricane Harvey had closed our return port. Assuming my house was totally submerged I wondered what would really be lost...its all just stuff, but 40 years of my life work. Then my heart crushed as my parents ashes in Urns would have been lost. I just knew I would search eternally to find those Urns. I can understand the fire survivors needing to search their own rubble for the tiniest things to bring them solice in memories. Compassion and love for all needing to rebuild. In my case, my house was dry. In California may the weather God bring just enough rain to regrow the forests. 🙏
Thank you so much for sharing the latest fire news, and letting us know you are safe! And especially thank you for sharing your gardening and hummingbird magic! Your channel is such a blessing, you really are an angel!
Hi Robbie, you’re such a sweeet sweet lady and your videos always makes me so happy and calm,I’m in zen mode when I watch your videos! Just adore you and your Zoe and of course those cute hummingbirds!!! God Bless!✨🙏🏻🥰💖✨
Your garden looks great! I’m just amazed at how much and how well everything is growing in January! I’m happy to hear you got rain and everything is OK. I’m continuing to pray for everyone in California and for you and Gary and the rest of your family. I hope that your daughter is healing and doing well too.❤❤❤
Yes! It worked perfectly for me on pots. However, I tried it on patio furniture and not as lucky. What finally worked, is putting tulle over the top of the cushion, tying it off and putting a bungee cord over that. I seem to have insane squirrels that are eating my patio furniture covers, as well. I put duct tape over the chew marks. They get to the batting inside and use that for their nests. This is a former walnut grove, with many walnut trees remaining, including next door. So it is a constant battle! The neighbor behind me has a little girl and they think it's cute (it is) to feed the squirrels peanuts. For dessert, they like my furniture. LOL
@@angrysenior662oh wow. That's a determined squirrel. I can only think the offensive odor of an ammonia spray might deter them. I think the odor would disappear but the squirrels would stay away. Or play the sound of a red tailed hawk to chase squirrels away. That's their enemy. I used that trick to get 30 vultures off my property. But, then I heard hawks answering back. You want hawks to eat squirrels. This might help you.
Robbie, could you plant some fire resistant ground covers around that retaining wall, like creeping thyme, creeping phlox, yarrow, succulents, California lilac, wild strawberry? Yes, we are grateful that you got rain and in the right amount.
Excellent suggestions! In an earlier video Robbie talked about "elephant food", a shrubby fire retardant plant that Gary has been propagating throughout their lot, don't know what other plants they have been planting.

So glad you guys and the animals are okay, and the weather has changed, bringing in some rain. I think about all the displaced animals: both pets and wildlife. Was watching one guy, Rocky K, who goes to shelters to help rehab. He was showing how some shelters are overflowing, with both animals without a known human, and some animals with the owner being contacted, but they, at the time, had no way to get to the shelter to pick up their pets, and/or they cannot even care for them at the current time. I have a NE facing balcony (in zone 4) that only gets sun in the morning. Most herbs, lettuces and other greens do well. It is a struggle to keep rosemary for more than one season, and tomatoes really struggle - so far I've had the best luck with "Tommy Toe" and "Yellow Pear" - both are heirlooms. I was hoping to try the "Siberia" heirloom this year, but haven't sourced the seeds yet. Hi Robbie - I recently started watching your videos from Queensland. I'm so impressed by your clear communication style and your energy and creativity. So glad you, Gary, your home and your animals are safe. I have a quick question and a request when (or if!) you have time. Do you put sticks, leaves, kitchen scraps etc in the bottom of the very small containers - for example a single lettuce growing in a yoghurt tub? Also could you demonstrate or explain setting up a 5 gallon bucket with the usual stuff on the base, but only potting mix on top? I have no worms or native soil available unfortunately. Thanks for all you do Robbie and Gary.
I am in the process of making some bird baths. I love the totes from dollar tree. I guess I have to order online as my two local dollar trees don't carry them. 😭
I do want to thank you for your advice on Tulle. I used it, and it worked! I also tie some to my fruit tree trunks which helps. I grow a lot of my veggies on my back deck - including heirloom tomatoes in those sterlite bins you've recommended as well as the large kitty litter buckets once emptied out (they're marked "2" and are therefore food grade), and other containers that have the food-grade markings, and when I spray my plants, I used a solution of water, garlic, and peppermint soap, which works wonders - moderation on the peppermint soap - try it in advance on one plant because it can be a little harsh on some leaves without adjusting the amount of the mint oils in the solution. I will swear by that Tulle! Before I knew about that, I was sitting on my deck and overheard someone munching away at ground level, where I'd first grown my tomatoes, and there was this huge groundhog, as happy as can be, munching away with with wile abandon. I plant onions, leeks and garlic down there these days, and herbs. He and a squirrel friend of his also also used to climb my fruit trees, but that tulle at the base really works! So thank you, very much!
