@vecernicek2 No, not even nearly as much clean headroom as the BJ, but foolishly loud. I actually installed an Eminence Maverick in mine, so I could keep the stage volume down, and still keep it around 5-6 (we mike everything). It has now taken the top spot over my Blues Junior AND my AC15C1.
I have an original '64 R12R Reverberocket and must say this sounds very good even without the much loved Ampeg reverb circuit. The only known issue I've read about on these amps is the need to dampen some tube/chassis rattling on some builds. Toss in some NOS glass and it looks like a keeper!
whenever i see andy play it looks as if he is some retired rock star playing with a band for 20-30yrs and has loads of experience! i wonder if he teaches!
Google search this amp, there are a few older forums that discuss fixes ranging from wedging a pick in the tiny space between the cabinet and the chassis to adding a few extra 1" screws to better secure the baffle to the cabinet.
my dream guitar has a diamond studded black body, gold trimmed with a rhino designed by Marc Ecko, flames running up the fretboard with an explosion at the tip.
@Theonlymoog I like the way this amp sounds, but how about clean headroom? I need to play clean most of the time, even for solos. Does it have more/same clean headroom than say Fender Blues Junior? Thanks
best idea ever making an amp in china thats hanwired, point to point amps sound 1000x better than circuit board amps, making them in china or india allows you to keep the costs down, fender should do the same thing.
God this guy must love his job. Gets to play every major piece of guitar gear out there and I'm sure he gets discounts on all of it too. Really versitile guitarist too.
thing is, he could make a sweeping brush sound great, so, like me i like the sound of it, but i don't have the ability to make it sound like he does, because he's so good at it, so you never really know if it's worth buying
@Hestjaevel111 it's just a matter of learning, once someones only been handwiring the same curcuit for 3 months day in day out, he can literally do it blindfolded. Then he teaches someone else, and so on, and so on. Until you have a factory full of people that churn out 100% accurate products. At the end of the chain you have someone that inspects every amp, thats what he does every minute of his working life, so he's going to know if somethings wrong. It's the way forward
uhm, no. did you not see the big "Fender" on the headstock? oh, and bit of trivia, a G&L is a fender, as the L stands for Leo, who's last name was Fender. he started fender, music man, and finally G&L.
Thanks for a good demo- But- you don't mention at least 1 point. For over 500 bucks- it has no REVERB- which is a big thing. A totally flat amplifier is pretty sterile after you start playing. I don't understand putting TREMOLO put not REVERB on an AMPEG-I have an expensive Mesa Boogie mark II- no tremolo or Reverb- Don't use it- IMHO a pro review mentions this- also, if I wanted to buy this amp- does it come in a 2x10 or 2x12 version- which can sound very tasty also.outputs?? thanks
what does you having a G&L amp have to do with anything? i dont even think that they make amps (could be wrong). and whats the language for? did we really offend you that much?
I just love the intro. Sounds really awesome
those guitars are the landmarks of tone!
I like the way that Strat sounds through it. Not a bad amp at all. It would be perfect for not making your neighbors hate you.
That Les Paul sounds friggin killer through that amp! Very nice indeed!
Good tone, good vintage tremolo. Great sound the telecaster too..
PGS with Andy makes the best gear demos. Hands down!
Andy! You're chops are getting better! Great job on those Neil Young & Stones voicings!!!
Stratoblogster =))
wow, that is one great sounding amp! i like the tremolo

very nice tone thanks!
Opens with a Richard Thompson's For The Sake of Mary, nice....
Does sound great with the tele for sure!
Curious too. "Can't you hear me knockin'" was right after--The Stones.
Wow that's the exact guitar i dream of owning someday.
I have an original '64 R12R Reverberocket and must say this sounds very good even without the much loved Ampeg

The only known issue I've read about on these amps is the need to dampen some tube/chassis rattling on some builds.
Toss in some NOS glass and it looks like a keeper!
Nice amp! I would'nt thought this of a 20W amp. Incredible.
Nice playing either :p.
Andy's back!
whenever i see andy play it looks as if he is some retired rock star playing with a band for 20-30yrs and has loads of experience! i wonder if he teaches!
R-121/122's are THE most amazing amp mic EVER!!! Pair 'em with a SM57 or an MD421 and it's even better!
I have this amp, and it's even better than Andy makes it sound!
Best reviewer online though, hands down.
it sounds awesome!
Nice clean and classic OD
an amazing amp...
i love when andy plays "communication breakdown" at the end of the video...
Damn, that sounds pretty great.
Nice tone.

Neil Young, OH YEAH!!
Cheers from Texas!!
I have this amp. It's awesome!
Que bien suena ese amplificador!
Awesome!
sounds killer!
The tremolo on that makes me want to listen to the Bubba Ho-Tep theme!
i really really love this amp.. 5 stars..
Are those the acrylic clear guitars? Those things are SWEET!!!
great guitars
wow... Nice I wantz one
nice amp! hope i could have one of those:/
great playin' . and that amp's a little powerhouse. *****
Me too, but I just pulled the trigger on one of these! ;]
oh my black jesus thats awesome
It handles some Rock n' Roll nicely, or you need pedals to make it sound a little more dirty?
my dream guitar has a diamond studded black body, gold trimmed with a rhino designed by Marc Ecko, flames running up the fretboard with an explosion at the tip.
i wonder if this circuit is the same one that is in the reverborocket reissue (clean side)???
@Theonlymoog I like the way this amp sounds, but how about clean headroom? I need to play clean most of the time, even for solos. Does it have more/same clean headroom than say Fender Blues Junior? Thanks
Is that an actual song in the beginning? That sounded sweet
Wow this amp sounds crunchy. Love it. What is the recording signal? Is it just a Royer mic into the DAW?
And the Les Paul sounds great through it.
sounds great,,how much?
cool amp!!!
Still sounds good...
Souds A-MA-zing. Unbelievable. Is that a Royer 121 mic? I adore the way it sounds, and I wouldn't change it for anything else...
royers are so dam perfect. so is this amp
whats the first song... it sounds really cool
what mic is that in front of the amp? it sounds great!
haha, it happens to the best :)
Great demo!!!
i love it
what would you say is your favorite amp out of all of those you'd played?
best idea ever making an amp in china thats hanwired, point to point amps sound 1000x better than circuit board amps, making them in china or india allows you to keep the costs down, fender should do the same thing.
Very nice!!!
Grandma Mary
Any recommendations for a cheap tube amp that works well with metal?
I love what he plays at 2:07
Who makes the speaker? Seems that most amp makers source their speakers from somewhere. Neil and the Stones - nice demo, Andy!
Is that the Fender Telecaster '52 reissue?
Anyone know how to fix the rattles with this thing???
God this guy must love his job. Gets to play every major piece of guitar gear out there and I'm sure he gets discounts on all of it too.
Really versitile guitarist too.

how much would one of this retail for?
for metal? what the cost?
@carswell98 What is the intro song
Prs's behind him!
What's the name of the song he plays at 1:18?
HOLY SHIIIIIIIIIIZLE !!!! that's cool...... O.o
Have these really been discontinued? If so, bummer.
nice
it does look better !! :D
3:24 song?
That does sound very very vintagy.

I wonder how you manage the amp is not farting out like shit when cranked like mine...
It's a Fender American Vintage 52 reissue Telecaster
deluxe reverb?
uh, that's because it is?
if only i had money!
Great amp, I also love how you play Cinnamon Girl. What pickups are in that Les Paul?
Trem? Does anyone even use auto-trem anymore?
Great stuff, Andy, as always.
Re upload, why?
uhm, no. did you not see the big "Fender" on the headstock? oh, and bit of trivia, a G&L is a fender, as the L stands for Leo, who's last name was Fender. he started fender, music man, and finally G&L.
do they still make these ?
I miss mine U_U
