@@-1dg4f-3 its only worth what people are willing to pay. and when these sort of cars can no longer be driven on the road, which will not be that long i think. they will have no value.
I am still driving, repairing and living my father's personal Capri dream car from 1982. Dad passed away much too early decades ago in 1996. Parting from his dream car to me would be like he is passing away again...
Can’t beat the 80’s Fords they had some great cars in the 80’s I owed loads of fords in the 80’s escort XR3, XR3i fiesta XR2. They were great fun the capris are a classic tho.
My dad grandads on both sides my and my uncle all had capris when I was a kid. The 2.8 is my all time favourite car! Really good memories of these cars 👌
At its time this was a lovely up market car . As an old car in that condition after all those years is a great investment. They go for lots of money! 👍
Amazing.... I think most people love a classic old Ford. Just something iconic about them. They resonate with anyone of a certain age (40s+) Although slightly sad that he's having to sell something that clearly has sentimental value😔
I saw the first 2.8i in 1983 in Germany when i was 13 years old. Black and brand new. Pepperpot rims. Now 52 and it still is my thing. This video shows a lot. 👍
A very cool old car. I just saw a Mk1 one here in Jasper Alberta Canada, I saw this, had to watch it. Great videos, love your style. Love the respect between you, Barry and Bryan. Keep those video's coming!
a 1978 Capri was the first and only car my mum ever owned, I've been saving to buy one so I can take her for a drive in it. she hasn't driven in about 30 years but still talks about how much she loved that car to this day so I'm sure getting rid of his capri wasn't an easy choice even if it has just been sat in his garage
We have something in common I own my 1981 Capri 2.8 injection 35 years as well ! Tut tut ! Rusty looking power steering pump ! Mine is immaculate and drives like new !
Nice folks, but they have some of their information wrong. This is the Cologne injected version engine, with 160bhp. The tilt and slide sunroof was always standard on all versions of the 2.8i, these extra front lights were called "Driving Lamps" and never a Capri option, rather optional on Fiesta (always standard on XR2 MK1), Escort MK3 (usually seen on XR3/XR3i), some Cortina L, GL, with optional "S" pack, ditto Granada, etc. There was never an auto option from Ford, though understand that a few were converted outside the network. Happy to be corrected.
I had a Capri 2Ltr S in the day. Super car. The 2.8 came out shortly after mine, but I did get a chance to try one from the local garage. The acceleration, in relation to what else was available was mind blowing. it was rumoured that the Liverpool gangs used them, as they were twice as fast as current police cars!!
My pops got away from police multiple times in his capri he wasn’t doing anything major criminal but you know a car like that needs to be driven how it should be driven none of these speed limit and the roads were a lot emptier Back then in comparison to now Let’s just say the one copper drove past my pops house after he already parked up on his drive and was stood inside looking out his window my pops was smiling at the copper the copper smiled and drove away Man I’d of loved to have known that buzz 😂
Having owned a few Capri's over the years, this was good to see. More so because I never had a 2.8. I've have a 1.6, two 2.0L's and a German 3.0L. Love the Capri and always will.
Always interesting to see a couple of people who don't really know Capris discussing them. Even the son doesn't seem to know it too well considering it's been with him his whole life. Dad was doing well for himself to buy a 4-year old Capri at 25 though. I could only afford when the *car* was 25 and £1000!
This is the car that got me to cars, my uncle had a black 2.8 with those same headlight covers.where the camera is was my view as 5 yr old. That long bonnet the sound on the memories.
I loved those lenses on those Capri's. There were a couple round my way in the early 90s with them on. One was Matt black and the other was a green wide arched x pack one.
If I was you I’d put the car away properly , for long term and give it to Kai when he turns 18 . If he sold it he’d be set for life 👌 great cars. Had a cpl in the early 90s 👌👌
A friend once had the 1.3 56bhp , it was embarrassingly slow compared to my 90bhp twin carb Austion Allegro 1750 Equipe 🤣....not many knew of that model and missed out on some serious fun. Thanks for the trip down memory lane guys 😁
Lol 'I'm 99'. Love that - refers to his age like he's a car 😂. Personally I'm a 1975 plate. Such a great video Calvin, absolutely spot on going for these human interest vids.
My mates got a secret capri untouched In his dad's old garage. All black in pristine condition. Its beautiful. I wanna drive it once before he sells it.
lovely motor and good to see a capri in standard mode from early 80s ,think these were around 12 grand new back then ha today lot more good on you enjoy the fun love capris myself.
I'll get mine eventually (still early days of saving up). My first car was a Capri mk 3 1.6 GL and I had a few more and I kick myself for not storing my last one away in 2005
really great content pal ,it must have been hard to let it go ,my 1st car was a 2 litre S black capri in 1982.wish i kept it now a good one worth 12k ,i love this cal.its fab m8..
Ahh man wish I see this before. I would of dropped a load of cash for this bad boy. I've been looking for one for years. Definitely my favourite car buy a mile off
Early 5 speed car. My dad had a graphite grey and strato silver combo paint car. That was an 83 A reg with the 5 speed. Great memories, fabulous sounding and looking car's. It's a shame they're rot boxes.
I had two 3.0 Ghia autos and a 3.0S manual back in the day. I preferred the Essex motor over the Cologne, they were much more tuneable, wish I still had any of them. That Capri has leaking injectors BTW, that's why it misfired for a few seconds on start-up.
I wish you had did test drive with his dad, I didn't quite get what you paid for it but I think at a classic car auction it would be in the 30k region...I wish he had never sold it.
Age-wise, Brian obviously came along a couple of years after the Capri (I had a total of five Capris back in those days and they were very comfortable trust me ha ha! ) 😊😊😊
my granda had a black 30s at 74 years old he went out in it everyday, then one night he ran into 7 cars after going to his labour club one night on way home ,he rang me and my sister and said ive scratched my car i think ,scratched jesus it was smashed on every wing and light ,we had it repaired then took it off him . Then he went out in the village and looked at all the smashed cars the next morning .

Love classic cars especially fords my dad had a few Capris as I was growing up, and I've owned 3 escort rs turbos myself along with MK1 fiesta and Opel manta and MK1 astra in the shitty brown colour lol.. brilliant cars 👌
Sadly soon all combustion cars including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Now they want to slow down all the gas station pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime (Bundesabgasbespassungsverbotsverordnung)!!!!!!

Can’t believe it only sold for £12,750 😱 Someone got a bargain… did you buy it Calvin 😂
@@Southie. only £12,750 that’s crazy surely it’s worth double that

Old skool baby!!! 💪Spend some money cleaning it up calv, keep it for another 30yrs will be worth a fortune mate..
My dad grandads on both sides my and my uncle all had capris when I was a kid. The 2.8 is my all time favourite car! Really good memories of these cars 👌

How can you bring yourself to part with a car after 35 years. It must be difficult as surely he's formed a real attachment. He will miss it!
These things were a common sight when I was growing up. Feeling old 😀
