If you're looking for the mix between melodic and screams, boy are you in for a treat with the rest of the album this is on. This song is the absolute heaviest, most angry thing on the record and it works amazingly in context with the other songs imo. TL;DR: Do yourself a favor and give Negative Spaces a spin in its entirety 👍
Yup....listen to it in context. The follow on interlude will raise a smile for sure as you will get your decompress. It's four minutes only Poppy could have concocted. And the album itself is like Poppy detonated the metalcore album anyone else would have made with the same resources. I have heard it described as "delicious" and I agree. The twists, turns and final destination are just fantastic. It's delicious anarchy and a great journey.
Thank you for this reaction! ❤️ Definitely one of her heavier songs! She does every genre, all her album have a different genre, from Pop, alt-rock, elettronic, hardcore (this song in particular) and metal-core! She just dropped a new album last Friday, called "Negative space" its more metal-core oriented! And the "center's falling out" is the heaviest song on the album! You should react to "New way out" from some classic metal-core! Or "they're all around us" for a good balance of harsh vocals and soft ones! Her newest album is a no skip for me!
i'm surprised that you missed out on her other collab "Suffocate" by Knocked Loose feat. Poppy which got grammy nominated in best metal performance not too long ago! Definitely the same level of the center's falling out of heavyness
My guy, you just happened to stumble into the heaviest most hardcore song she's ever released amongst her vast discography of eclectic genres hahaha. The singles from this album are good, the 'cost of giving up' and 'new way out' are both somewhat standard "Octane-core" metalcore, but I like the album tracks like 'surviving on defiance', 'vital' and 'halo' the most. None of them are anything like 'the center's falling out.'
Poppy doesn't have a typical sound other than in the sense that you can recognize that a song has her in it. She's stylistically very explorative, influenced very heavily by artists like David Bowie, Blondie, Madonna, Nine Inch Nails, Kraftwerk, Marilyn Manson, No Doubt, MGMT, Korn, and Mew, and also many more, and not many of her songs are alike in subgenre. This is the heaviest song of her career, so far, the demo version which she'd recorded vocals of in one take. The album version of it is different, mostly as heavy. I recommend five songs, because Poppy's easier to understand with more exposure than most artists: I'm Poppy - highlights her pop sensibilities and her concept character X - highlights her stylistic adaptability and transitions, with an incredible music video The Holy Mountain - highlights her songwriting and pure vocal emotion Her - highlights what she's overcome personally Vital - is my favorite song on this new album Negative Spaces, catchy, painful, nostalgic She's the only of her kind, and you're going to enjoy discovering more of her!!! 💮🔼💙
Yeah, man, absolutely check the entirety of the album. This is peak brutality on that sucker. Nothing has more of an evanescence vibey melodic verses and the singles save the heaviness for the breakdowns and payoffs. Honestly, it reminds me of a music box and it’s very brief but the prelude to Crystallized is one of my favorites due to it just being so pretty.
But since you're not a fan of her heavy music, you would love her old metal and pop fusion songs and you love V.A.N you can check out: - Khaos X4 (a babymetal type of song) - Play Destroy ft. Grimes (pop metal fusion song) - I Disagree (decent rock song)

Definitely listen to the rest of the album! It has so much of what you're looking for.
Poppy is all over the place! Pretty cool. Try Hanabie out of Japan.
