    some very good points! would've liked to see you go into a bit more detail about the mount system and how unique it is, and the mastery system in general, but for a concise look at gw2 this was a good introduction for anyone new to the game

    This is probably one of the best videos. I was going to come in and said what I hate about this game, but you just showed every reason why I should play it. The end game looks amazing in your video. I just wish leveling was a little straightforward. I find myself running around in circles a lot. The best way to explain is I did all the Hearts on the map, but when I go to an unexplored place, the level of the monsters is too high. When a newbie doesn't know what to do for a while, it kinda makes us want to log off. Anyways, amazing video.

      Each zone has a recommended level range for them, which you can see on the map.
      If you've done all the hearts in the area, maybe consider doing the main story?
      Both the hearts and the main story should keep you at a competitive level.
      If you need help, feel free to ask in zone chat. People are always happy to help.

    GW2 is one of the undisputed goats. GW2 is the ONLY mmorpg where all it’s content, old and new, is still viable and relevant content. This is because of its horizontal progression which is the best of its genre as well as the father of ifs genre. This makes GW2 have the MOST content compared to any other morph even versus older games. Yes older games have more Xpacs and content but only a small percentage of its content is relevant and beneficial to complete.

      @@AdamRak The problem with getting the new one (secret of the Obscure), is that you don't get any profession specialization, so you will miss out on some other ways to play your profession. Normaly I would say path of Fire, because, there you get mounts, especailly skyscale. But you get skyscale in the new expansion. I would look out for discount on the game, with Secret of the obscure coming out there could come some discount on the other expansion.

    I used to play Guild Wars 1 religiously as a child. As long time LDOA holder and GWAMM Contender back in GW1 days (was still some ways off lol) I always wanted to pick up GW2 and was hyped for it, but life circumstances did not allow, and it slipped off the radar over the years. Now it crept in my mind suddenly and wanted to try it out again. Thanks for this video.
    Also, I guess gear and level grind not being a thing has been a GW thing that set it apart since GW1 days, I am glad they stuck to their dna. It is downloading now so I am excited to see where the story evolved too.

    Out of the many reasons why I love gw2 I think that gear never being replaced is probably my absolute favorite. I don't ever feel like I've fallen behind after long breaks and the story for the base game and every expansion is so good!! Most of the reasons you mentioned were the same reasons why I switched from ffxiv to gw2. Really enjoying the game so far. The only reason I can’t really get into it is the currencies. There are so many of it that whenever I think of it I would suddenly logout and play other game. I hope anet would just merge the currencies for every expansion.

    • @connorconcarne
      @connorconcarne  Рік тому +2

      I'm so glad you've been enjoying the game so far! You're right that the currencies can be overwhelming. This is even after a lot of them have boon consolidation. I have been thinking of doing a video explaining all the various currencies and what to do with them. In the meantime check out fast.farming-community.eu/ this site is amazing for looking at how to convert currencies into gold.

    • @themooniscoming
      @themooniscoming Рік тому +1

      It is indeed a lot, but it follows a pattern. There's karma and gold that are universal. Every expansion has a major currency, like the volatile and unbound magic. And to wrap, every major map/content has it's own currency, like fractal shards, magnetite shards, and eternal ice shards.
      Well... very convoluted... not daunting, just annoying. I think they do this to encourage engagement within maps. Having a truly unique currency would make some maps absurdly obsolete.

    1:33 normally, one would think to move out of the AoE but his virtuoso stands their ground. not being a mirage the mechanic behind it isn't immediately clear. what happened at 1:37 ? did his character get covered by aegis or why was he invulnerable to all this damage? the virtuoso itself didn't seem to activate any skill capable of mitigating all that damage and he didn't evade it either.

    Gear grind I not a thing in GW2? That is insane. Coming from WoW, one of the reasons why I stopped playing it is because everything basically resets each patch and I couldn't be bothered to farm it all over again. Having a game drop the gear grind is awesome. Being that alt friendly is great as well, because I can't even decide which class I want to play first, I like a couple quite a bit...

    • @connorconcarne
      @connorconcarne  9 місяців тому

      It's definitely not a thing in Guild Wars 2. The ascended gear I got back in 2012/2013 is still the best in slot gear. Exotic Gear which is only slightly weaker is entirely appropriate for Endgame content (except high level Fractals which require ascended) and can be gotten exceptionally quickly. Don't worry if it takes you a while to land on a class. If you play this game long enough you'll likely end up with 1 of each class anyway :)

      @@connorconcarne So, I came back and I'm having a nice time--going well so far, except for this one mission and one enemy... and since I haven't bought an expansion yet I can't submit any bug reports or suggestions.
      (I might just write this here to copy and paste later on their forums, you don't have to read/answer this; but, maybe you've ran into this problem too, unless that's just how this enemy type is supposed to be--hopefully not)
      Is this normal? So, I fought a world type boss that had a purple/red border with one other player, and the monster was one of those giant two-tailed scorpions. (I'm a Warrior) The first half of his hp or so was generally fine, but then the last half of his hp he started targeting me 100% of the time and he started really spasming out constantly whenever I'd hit him. He would also try to space himself from me at the same time, so it just looked like he was constantly turning in circles and then I'd truly have to guess what direction he would be attacking--on top of the spasming. It was definitely a frustrating fight when that started to happen because it became SO much more difficult to read his moves--the boss became like a bouncy ball that was tied in place and I kept smacking it around in all directions, except it could hit back.
      I ran into the same thing again though... in a mission called "Untamed Wilds," where you're helping an Ogre tribe find their leader and other comrades. At the end of the mission one of those giant scorpion bosses came out, except this time, he was even more annoying than the world boss I fought earlier, because he would not stop running away and around me for some reason. His patrol range was also super short, so he would run off 24/7--I couldn't do much about it, and then he would regenerate all his health (since he would go "out of bounds"). I took note of this and played his annoying game of constantly moving away from me and spasming out every time I'd hit him, but I soon cornered him into a wall--yay me... until he started regenerating again. Maybe he was too far into the wall, I don't know--didn't seem like it to me, as he was only there for 4 seconds.
      I really hope that more bosses in the future I run into aren't like this and I hope that this bug/issue can be fixed/corrected with these giant dual-tailed scorpion type enemies. I like fighting them when they behave normally, but, whatever they were doing with me was ruining everything lol.

So for people who are returning and have not played the End of Dragons expansion at all (and still have gear from even earlier than season 4), what do you suggest they do when returning? The ascended gear you already have is still the best you can get, There are some unique stat types from End of Dragons that some builds use that you need to own the expansion for. my advice would be to just play through the story in order and unlock the mounts fully once you get to path of fire and beyond, ofc many people love to rush them because theyre fun but they drastically change how you traverse the maps so i feel its a more enjoyable experience to take it slower and get them when theyre intended to be unlocked

      If you're progressing through the story then I'd consider unlocking Griffon now. It's just a few collections and some gold to acquire and it's not too bad. I'd probably hold off on unlocking skyscale until the expansion unless you've already made decent progress on it. It's several large collections, time gated materials (which you can skip with gold) and 250 of all of the living world season 4 map currencies. Not sure how it would be acquired in the new expansion but it's expected to be easier. So I'd hold off until then to see how it is to acquire (it's what I'm doing on my alt account as well).

And than you need to buy 20 spaces for bags, 20 tabs for bank, 30 tabs for builds, 4 seasons of living world - not for story, for maps and rewards, 3 expansions for core game stuff and any other that comes. I'm sure subscription with no extra microtransactions and just expansions is way more fair ;)
    Also - buying gold for $ is not p2w?? How so? I can buy every weapon and armor in game for money. If you think buying bags or bank tabs for $ is not p2w try to play with default space - i'm sure it is not possible by design.

To me, personally, the feeling of progress is integral to my enjoyment of MMORPGs and if I can just click a few items and send some stuff over from another character to immediately become max level and get end-game gear just like that it just feels empty.
    Years ago when I still played WoW, I used to feel proud for having every class at max level, having progressed through arena/pvp or end-game raids to gather the gear there. It made me feel connected to my character.

    Whats GW2?
    The opposite of BDO

  • @sohu86x
    @sohu86x Рік тому

    One of my biggest problems with GW2 is that competitive dps requires button mashing, which is not fun at all. A global cool down might be good.

    • @talkingbutt3150
      @talkingbutt3150 11 місяців тому +2

      It's not fun when you can ROLL FACE and win.
      Are insinuating that you can ROLL FACE and win is that why its "not fun at all" for you ?
      _"competitive dps requires button mashing, which is not fun at all. A global cool down might be good"_
      You want to go from button mashing to a WAITING GAME.
      That's what you are asking for.
      I suggest you go and jump on the FFXIV bandwagon like everyone else, seem to be your cup of tea.

    This game doesn't support OCE/SEA servers. It's a decent MMO, but playing any online game with 250 ping feels awful. Can't recommend it if you aren't playing from NA or EU.

      Not at all. It's a buy once, own it forever type of game. There are periodic expansions which you need to pay for but in no way is there a sub fee to worry about.

      The biggest thing that I enjoy is the combat system. It feels smooth, engaging and super fun to play. With how smooth movement feels I'd liken it more to Elden Ring (at least in how it feels to control your character).

    -Because you are open world enjoyer.
    Why you should not play Gw 2?
    -Because you like raids.
    -Because you like dungeons.
    -Because you like pvp
    -Because you like crafting
    -Because you like a good story.

    The rotations of many builds are just ridiculous. while I find the graphics nice, they are not exactly the best when it comes to seeing what you are doing or what is happening under your feet, other MMO's are much more clear in this area. Some of the fights in the story are just stupid and you will die over and over trying to complete them, that got old fast. There is so much loot that drops, it is loot overload. Once you have your set all the other loot is just a waste of time, but yet you will still get thousands of pieces of gear while you continue to play that is basically worthless, that is just not fun to me. Despite these and a few other things I don't like, the game is fun and and I probably have a few thousand hours into it, but these shortfalls stop it from being my main MMO.

    There is also reasons why you should not play Guild Wars 2:
    1. It is a waste of time
