As a woman with West Indian heritage who grew up in Toronto, Canada and immigrated to the US, I still get culture shocked in some instances. I will never get used to the crowd in Times Square, Yonge street was just not like that!! Canada will always be near and dear to my heart because that country shaped me to be the woman that I am; all of my schooling was done in Canada, Elementary, High School and University. I am a proud Canadian but I also love the United States; this dynamic country where I raised my American born children and is now my home. I also willfully hold on to my West Indian heritage and pass that down to my children. I cannot and will not surrender my Canadian passport. "True North Strong and Free!!
I 1000% agree with this whole video. I feel so limited with my options in Toronto. Our population is so small & theirs such a limit on what you can do here in Canada. The seasonal depression is too reall! I Cant wait to get out permanently..
No lie this episode was definitely inspiring guys! We been going through the same issue and struggle here in Toronto when it comes to creative blocks and the weather issues. I'm a Jamaican in the US with family in Canada. Their reason on choosing to go to Canada was simply it was easier to get into the country. Canada def has an easier immigration policy.
I want to move to the USA mainly for financial reasons. I would also like to be somewhere Thats warm during the winter. I love Canada and I am a proud Canadian. But there’s nothing wrong with change and opening up your options. Great video! ❤
I’m American and love Canada but it is much warmer in the states. And you can fly to so many different places in the winter for a different experience. We call it “switching scenes”.
We are also in the Toronto area, my husband and I are in the process of moving to Florida.. We are hopeful that we can make the move happen this spring! Your video really spoke to us and we could really relate to how you both felt living in Canada, and how much Florida brings happiness to you.. we have been wanting to do this since 2015 and we are finally making it happen!! :)
It’s crazy how this popped up on our feed! We live in Canada and have been going back on forth about making a move to the US. A lot of people have their opinions about what happened in Canada during the pandemic but it made us really question our freedom. Thanks for sharing!

I would love if you guys could do a video talking about the immigration process you guys went through to be able to live in the USA 🙏🏽
Hey guys just to comment on the spelling of certain words in Canada as opposed to the U.S. Canada follows the British system so Center is Centre, Theater is Theatre and a few other spellings are different. Smarties is actually a British derived candy which is probably similar to M&Ms in the US. Basically, everything Canadian that is different from the U.S. is usually derived from Britain as Canada is still a British Commonwealth member and the King of England is its head of State, which is only symbolic but there is still a very strong connection there.
This is so relatable. My reasons for wanting to move to the U.S. are literally the same, and being from Ottawa the limitations are even greater. I just know that, that 1 move will be so life changing. Using this video as a sign.
Great video. We live in Palm Beach County which is an hour north of Miami. Beautiful. Great towns here are Boynton Beach, Boca Raton and Delray Beach. Nice beaches, fun downtowns, parks , nice plazas and much more!!

I almost feel like I know y’all. I have so much love for you guys and look forward to watching you continue your evolution. Keisha, let’s be friends. I want a reason to come to Florida😂
I came to Miami from New York when I was 14. Growing up in Miami back in the day people were friendly, now people are so mean and angry and miserable. I moved to Broward County when I got married and had my children and I loved it. People are a lot friendly the more north you go. When I lost my husband 4 years ago, my kids wanted to move closer to family in Miami, so we moved back and I regret it. I would love to meet you guys. Keisha I agree with you, it’s hard to meet real friends. I’m very picky about meeting people. We love you guys and your family. Walgreens sells Polysporin.

I lived in northern ontario, vancouver, toronto and now 15 years in Ottawa. The weather here is not good. Winters are pretty severe and summer can get VERY hot but the problem is the humidity. Ive never experienced humidity like I do in Ottawa, it was a real shock.. it can be oppressive and prevent you from wanting to go outside, will make you feel so awful and uncomfortable. Add to that the long winter and wet cold messy spring there is literally a couple months in an entire year where you can be comfortable outside and for me, thats mainly the fall when its like 15 degrees celsius and the humidity goes away. Its only been the last 10 years Ive started to realize that Canada's weather is terrible almost all year long. Its crazy when you think about it.
As a Floridian (Miami) the further north you go.. the friendlier the people but for the most part we are some of the coolest people. I’m glad you all are enjoying your time here!🫶🏾
Only someone who had been experiencing such cold weather in Canada would appreciate Florida. Florida and Texas are the two states I seriously don't like. They are both cesspools but I'm glad you both like it. It shows there is a place that is right for everyone.
Just out of curiosity, did u lose anyone to Covid in Canada? You might feel different. In the US many lives were lost especially in Florida. Canada didn’t have the death toll that we did & the citizens should be thankful.
Thank you!! I commend Canada. I hated the stringent rules and a lot could have been done differently, but erring on the side of caution helped minimize the number of deaths.

Interesting. I lived in Houston for 15 years, attended a HBCU and I'll choose Toronto any day over Houston. The only thing I don't enjoy is the weather. I love the seasons...I love the diversity and that people are so well traveled here. Everyone is from somewhere else, and I see it in the schools the kids attend. The experiences are very subjective and depends on a lot of variables. And yes, am a chronic escaper something I didn't do while in Houston. This has opened my eyes a lot especially about different cultures. Am happy you found home in FL.
I’d like to add that we’re still in a pandemic so please acknowledge that* we aren’t experiencing the same rates of mortality that we were in 2020, but cases are still surging and people are suffering with long COVID symptoms
I would love to hear more about how you were able to move and stay without coming back to Canada in 6 months. I’ve considered moving permanently to a warm state but I thought you’d need a sponsor? Because you have businesses in the states did it make that easier?
You can obtain a visitor visa and extend your stay in the States if you are Canadian. You will need to be in the States in order for this to work though. You would walk in to the immigration office at the airport to pick up the document :)
Remember we had curfew.. we couldn’t be on streets after 10pm .I remember my workplace had to type out letters for each employee just in case bylaw police stop you.😞
Hey guys welcome back i miss y'all so much,i know this gonna be a lit podcast and very interesting topic, hope y'all are having a wonderful sunday and stay safe out there 🤗❤️🤗❤️
The southern states are the friendliest states in the U.S. Small town, talk to everybody, down-home. However, there are too many different people with different cultures, not to mention Florida is the vacation spot, spring break spot, retirement hub, which brings a lot of unpleasant experiences. Too much distance between the haves and have-nots which creates other problems. Besides, it is too damn hot and humid!
As a Canadian of Caribbean background, I would absolutely NEVER want to live in the states… but I get your type of career why it was a good move for you, that would suck losing out on huge brand deals cuz of your location.
I went on a vacation to Cuba 10 years ago, in the middle of January. On the day we had to return, the temperature was 37 below and super windy at the airport in Canada. Even if this plane made it home, why would I want to live in that cold dark misery, after landing? I almost preferred it would crash, rather than deal with the horror again. So, when I checked out of the hotel room, I left my luggage in a room I thought could maybe get robbed, but not by a random street person, so at least I did my due diligence. I left ALL my primary ID on it! I was REEALLY hoping for a staff mix up to lose my luggage, so I'd have no choice but to stay! My bad luck though, no one took my luggage.
Omggg me and my daughter (she's 10) have been watching u guys since t squad days lol and we ALWAYS ALWAYS talk about how u guys did the big move man . I always say when I'm financially free I'm buying a sick home here and we ain't never leaving Canada 😂💯 we'll definitely own property elsewhere and travel lots but we staying right here. Lol I get it tho you guys were really unhappy and the weather was suchhh a problem for yall. 😅❤❤❤❤
I feel you Keisha. I also have Trust issues, people will Stab you in the back, set you up to get robbed, steal from you. Don’t invite people into your house. There’s too many bad people in this world.Tray shouldn’t be so friendly because you never know what they could be plotting😥😪🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 Keisha you be safe as well coming in at 3AM🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽❤❤
I’m happy that you guys are happy BUT never burn your bridges. Some of us have had a different experience so pray for Canada and keep the door back to Canada open.
Um yeah it's extremely cheap if you have a job or under 27 (can be under your parents insurance). I got 8 skin graft surgeries, and actually got paid $10,000 a month for being on short term disability with health insurance. Your health care is not free, you pay through taxes. @@donnapug

Thank you for speaking so positively about FL as a native Floridian I LOVE living here. I lived in other states and hated it lol especially during the winter. Florida is the butt of a lot of jokes but it is the fasting growing state in the US. A lot of the keyboard haters are flocking to FL. Like you two said POLITICS ASIDE this place is paradise! People move from all over to visit our beaches, enjoy the weather, visit the parks, stay in the beautiful hotels and cruise lines. I live two hours away from Disney, 3 hours away from the Keys, all of the beautiful amenities that comes with living here makes me so grateful. I always tell my friends that live in other states, on my worst day I can also go to the beach and find my happy place. Also, FL has smarties I'm not sure where you all have visited but I get my smarties from the Latin markets like Bravo or Presidente.
Florida ranked 48 in education. Other states support your infrastructure and lifestyle. Get to really know your county. An informed citizen is what keeps it free and strong
I want to move from Canada so bad. I'm so unhappy. The weather for me is the biggest thing ( I was born and partially grew up in Jamaica). The next issue is cost of living, particularly housing/rent, low wages. Another thing is too much red tape. It feels like you have to jump through a million hoops to be successful. I desperately need a change now. 😢
The main thing about moving to the USA is my fear of living there as a black woman, especially in the southern states (where I would like to go) that are warmer. Yes racism exists everywhere, but it seems so much more scary in USA.
@@islandchick555 let me tell you conservatives arent a boogeyman they are quiet friendly and you'd be surprised how many black people live in the south. In Canada there is racism they just mask it with smiles and don't tell it to your face

In the 50’s to 2000 Toronto had excellent employment compared to Europe and the Caribbean. Europe has many places that are now better the Torono . Look at the pictures of Toronto in the 50s to 70’s ! What a wonderful place with opportunity and affordability. Warden subway was built in the 50’s and not much good infrastructure has been built since . Where on earth did all that tax and development fees go ? Up to about the 70s there must have been optimism , in the last couple decades it’s all about consulting fees , taxes , development fees and LRT Eglinton disaster that exposes the mismanagement .

B.C. is mild, but rainy. It is a lot like Seattle, I am guessing.
Started watching y’all from the beginning. So happy for the both of you ❤️
New subbie!! I love your podcast!!
Yay! Thank you!
@@annabalikbayan ah ok thank you for sharing this!
Remember we had curfew.. we couldn’t be on streets after 10pm .I remember my workplace had to type out letters for each employee just in case bylaw police stop you.😞
Seasonal depression is real, even in the US in the colder states
I love how we can move freely though, to any climate we want.
Hey guys welcome back i miss y'all so much,i know this gonna be a lit podcast and very interesting topic, hope y'all are having a wonderful sunday and stay safe out there 🤗❤️🤗❤️
Golden krust is a jamaican restaurant spot , tamarac , Miami gardens are some good ones.
Besides, it is too damn hot and humid!
southern states are 'friendly' ? ? ?? ? ? ? ? ? ? Texas??? Florida? Georgia? Kentucky? Mississippi ? Alabama are considered friendly??????????????? gtfOh

Thank you for this video. Many Canadians move to the US but don't share their journey
As a Canadian of Caribbean background, I would absolutely NEVER want to live in the states… but I get your type of career why it was a good move for you, that would suck losing out on huge brand deals cuz of your location.
The US is a great place to live. You can find anything you want in the US.
Love it!! Thank you for your continued support!❤
I would like to hear Keisha’s birth story + how you all maintain privacy as public figures.
What happened to the house you renovated in Canada?
How was the paper work and immigration process to be able to live in America?
I feel you Keisha. I also have Trust issues, people will Stab you in the back, set you up to get robbed, steal from you. Don’t invite people into your house. There’s too many bad people in this world.Tray shouldn’t be so friendly because you never know what they could be plotting😥😪🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 Keisha you be safe as well coming in at 3AM🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽❤❤
I agree with you 💯%. I let someone in my home and they stole a vast amount of valuables from me! So trust No one, not even family.
We have Smarty’s. Most of the time I see them during Halloween.
I’m thinking of moving to Florida also
How is Florida heat a better weather? I cannot stand one day of heat warning weather in Toronto, now imagine that throughout the year there..
I live in Michigan we had some Canadians drove over and rented apartments to escape their lockdown! Wild!
Have you guys visted tampa, florida? How would you compare it to Miami/fort Lauderdale?
I totally agree that people from Toronto are not nice. People are definitely nicer and more friendly in the US than Toronto imo
I wish u guys the best❤❤❤
We definitely have Smarties and Ketchup chips up north closer to NY!
Smarties is British candy that’s why they don’t have it. Chic filet is now at square one too
No wait the U.S does have smarties the candy?? They used to have it all the time when I was younger
Yes we do have it. That part confused me 😂
I’m happy that you guys are happy BUT never burn your bridges. Some of us have had a different experience so pray for Canada and keep the door back to Canada open.
Free is not always good healthcare!
But it’s still better than losing your home because you got sick!
@@donnapugNo it isn’t
Um yeah it's extremely cheap if you have a job or under 27 (can be under your parents insurance). I got 8 skin graft surgeries, and actually got paid $10,000 a month for being on short term disability with health insurance. Your health care is not free, you pay through taxes. @@donnapug
@@donnapug I'd rather lose the house than my life, being put on a wait list while my illness worsens and spreads. Or being offered assisted deletion as an option.
Love the podcast i been watching your channel for years .
You both look great, Canada misses you ❤
Yes we do have smarties, maybe not in Miami. But alabama, Texas, Mississippi, Louisiana, Georgia, yes we have them.
You'll shoud try Tabanka A Trini Kitchen, in North Lauderdale. The doubles are the best I've tasted in FL, and their roties are good also
I want to move from Canada so bad.
@@islandchick555 Don't let that stop you. Millions of Black women live in the South.
We have good jaimacan food in the bronx
This is inspiring my goal to move to Florida and I'm now starting my youtube.
I live in Michigan 30 mins from the Canadian border, I LOVE FL!!!! I want to book Nov., Dec., and Jan., Feb.🎉🎉🎉🎉 my favorite song to sing is Everybody Loves the Sunshine☀️☀️☀️☀️
I miss u guys here in Canada,i know i can see u guys where ever u r but i and so happy for u guys. God bless❤❤😊
Definitely a ceiling here. I still can’t believe u guys just left me here 😂. U guys still give me hope that I can make the move to the states 😊
PLEASE TELL ME HOW TO GET VISA? Its my dream to leave Toronto
I was saying you both sound like true Toronto mandem and gal dem. Respect ✊🏾
Amazing pod cast
Being from Canada I 100% understand ya’ll!!!!
I enjoyed the podcast thanks for sharing
love the idea of you guys doing a podcast
