Thanks for the concise information, I am a CA, however currently in Toronto, I am working in Risk & Finance, for TN eligibility, do I need to specifically work in accounting domain? if you can answer, it would be of great help.
@almemon3691 it wasn't much of an interview. The few questions they asked were more specific to my application (eg. My legal name on one of my documents was different than the others and they pointed that out). Was it my first time applying for TN. Am I am Canadian CPA. They inquired further about why my employer letter was addressed to me+cbp rather than to cbp only. Otherwise, once I arrived, they just asked for my "package" and instructed me to have a seat.
Hey Kyla! I'm guessing because you were recommended for the job and they knew you were a Canadian, so the new job wrote the support letter/job offer letter accordingly...but other than what you mentioned that should be included - were there any other surprises? And just to clarify -- did you have an SSN or an ITIN number?
Hello! I didn't experience any other surprises. Once the letter is written properly you should be good. Also have proof of your degree such as your diploma and other documents like a passport. I had an SSN before because I studied in the US and the school assisted in applying for them for the international students.
Healthcare in Canada is insanely expensive because it is embedded in income taxes. I think you would love the south and would instantly fit into American society.
Hello. Depending on the state you may need to check their requirements to see if they would accept a Canadian certificate. Otherwise, you'd likely need to complete the process to get certified in the state you're wanting to teach in.
thanks for the video it was very informative :) I'm currently in the process of starting my relocation and I really appreciate you sharing your experience, do you know if I can visit the US just a few weeks before applying for TN visa/job start date so I can check out apartments? not sure if there's a restriction around that but wanted to ask. thanks again!
Hello thanks for watching! Yes you can go before applying as a regular visitor. If you try to apply too early from your start date they may deny you and tell you to come back later so it's best to just go as a visitor.
I've done the process at the airport once. I don't remember having to wait very long but they seem more strict at the airport. They denied giving me the visa because they felt I was trying to get it too early. But once you go to the border and make the request you get approved or denied in the same visit and you'll receive the card for your passport. I hope you're successful when you go!

Wow. This video is so timely. I am an accountant as well and just got a job offer but so anxious about the TN application.
Hi fellow Accountant. Once the letter is written well you should be ok. Hope it goes well! Congrats on the job!
Thank you! Just came back here to share that my TN visa was approved. ❤ Thank you.
@@AshesSplashez That's awesome! I'm glad it was a successful process. All the best as you start this new chapter!
@@AshesSplashez What did the officer asked you?

Thanks for sharing. Do you have any suggestions for teaching without a teaching certificate from the state you seek to work in?

@@kylachantel24 thank you.
Would audit jobs fall within the accounting/accountant category?
Yes, they would. They review the job description and the required degree for the job along with the job title.
Thanks alot @@kylachantel24

Thanks for the video, do you have a good CPA cross border accountant you could recommend.
No, I don't know any I would suggest.
How long does it take at the airport? How long is the process once you request that you want a TN visa? I intend to get mine at Vancouver Airport
