Prague is an awesome city :)
Also known as Praha
This "German train" is produced by Škoda Transportation (Czech company)... "The Old Fashion" station is Pardubice - Main Station, It isn't repaired because all of this (except the main building) will be demolished, they start this year. Prague -Smichov is the same case. The narrow platforms are side platforms, they are mostly use for the smallest side tracks and It's prohibited stay there before a train come near the platform. Moreover, some are obviously abandoned....Guys, make some research...
I enjoy how the quality of a place's train stations and its trains can have absolutely no correlation.
Our approach to rail health and safety is exceptionally simple. If you're dumb enough to get hit by something as big and loud as a train you deserved it, case closed.
People in the Czech Republic are not so stupid so our platforms fit us. Our train system is amazing.
I must disagre. Those platforms that "fit us* aren't safe, many people died on those.
@@OlgaAnderson07 as someone that drives around these, these arte safe if you are normal and juist stand, also, the station tell people to only approach a train when it stops
im from czech too and its amazing
10:00 "This train feels very German"
Ironically, it's a Skoda.
Škoda *
@@Pomeranc470 Já vím. Ale když píšu anglicky, tak diakritiku raději nepoužívám.
I loved the zoom in on me and my friends on that day! :D
I so wish you did voice work for cbbc when I was a kid, I really love your voice and love listening to talk!
Nice description of the railways in the Czech Republic!
The locomotive at 4:01 sounds really good especially when accelerating due to usage of thyristors - one of the first trains that used a drive.
Thank you very much for shering it is great 👍 from usa 🇺🇸
8:26 The narrow platforms at this station are ok, because the first track isn't used anymore and the second one is used like twice a week to just park trains during the night.
I am seeing the narrow-platform stations less and less due to safety concerns. The stations that still have them aren't busy most of the time.
Also, yea, when the tracks are being repaired trains pass at the other track, albeit at like 30 kmph, since they cannot shut down an entire track with lots of trains running on them. This approach still cause delays as other trains have to wait for others to pass tho.
Why 'like' 30mph? 'At about' or 'at around' is grammatically correct. Too many people can't string a coherent sentence together without unnecessarily peppering it with the misused word 'like'. Please don't become one of them my friend!
@@TheRailwayTourManager I'm sorry, I'm not a native speaker and little mistakes like this still happen to me
Thanks for letting me know though!
Pardubice station looks quite interresting, like it still has some of that old soviet era character to it.
It still has? What you talking about? Soviet Union border was 500 km from Pardubice. :-)
Ondřej Matějka Please excuse my for my western ignorance😅 but the place has a certain old “Mission Impossible” atmosphere to it, like from the old 1960’s tv series. Before 1989 it was all considered eastern block countries and kind of generailised in a certain way. I kind of meant eastern block instead of soviet but it’s easy to get them confused.
@@dykodesigns That building is from 40s, fortunetly they planing reconstruction finally, this is one of the last remaining big stations without reconstruction. And it looks absolutely different than soviet style in that time, it's more similar to first republic fuctionalism because that same architects were still here after WWII in communism. In Soviet Union they were building monsters in soc. realism style with fake antik columns and statues everywhere. ;-) we were lucky with that, we have only few of that monsters and much smaller than in soviet union or in Poland. ;-) If you want to see what I am talking about google hotel international in Prague, it's one of that few soviet style buildings in former Czechoslovakia.
And our concrete aparment buildings (paneláky) can look similar on first look, but it's much better quality than in soviet union.
Congratulations, ikaw ang ating Lift Enthusiast Grand Winner, Beno Lifts!
3:56 The Czech attitude for safety (personal or at work) is quite simple - if you get killed when doing something stupid or not being alert when at a dangerous workplace... it is your fault.
But there are still some safety regulations, such as speed limits for trains passing by workers etc.
9:43 We call this train "a suitcase" or "a bus" (810 series). Very simple and light unit for local routes; hundreds of them were produced. There is also a modernized version (yellow/green colours - 814 series) with a better engine.
12:14 A "water crane" for feeding steam locomotives with water. Still functional in some stations for occasional historical rides.
You have to take this route once again now. So many things changed.
Shows Pardubice station - doesn't show the massive map of Czechoslovakia and it's rail routes, visible on the wall at 12:08
In the Czech Republic, it's still fun to travel by train. If you ever want to shoot a horror video, do it in Germany.
Thank you for not begging for money for your channel.
0:48 Yes, that's actually how it works. If you're sending a train to track 3, tracks 1 & 2 are automatically blocked.
im from czech and its amazing the narrow platforms are really good
The bell on the announcements is quite doomy 😈 This reminds me of traveling in Hungary and Switzerland a few years ago, very different but great experiences!
One thing I'd really miss if I lived in the Czech Republic would be the Grumpies- also known as Bardotkas. These were Communist era diesels with big, slow- revving engines, and they sounded rather like British Rail Class 37s. Strictly speaking they sounded like the Ruston engined 37906 and 905. I believe 1 or 2 are preserved.
Another great video 👍
Some stations (Radotin, Smichov) you've picked are about to be modernized within a few years so you can come 2-3 years after and compare. :)
Beroun is already being modernised!
I'm half Czech, its hradets kraloveh not kradek kralov and pardubitseh not pardubeechy 😂 Nice vid of the pendolino though
it's exactly Hradec Králové, not some stupid czenglish
@@Pidalin I know how it's fucking spelt I'm spelling it so it's easier for him to pronounce. Hradec Kralové and Pardubice are how it's spelt in Czech
DS Intel I’m fully Czech
But I’m a immigrant in America :/
The locals go on the platform only when the train is arrived (:
You are not able to enter narrow platform before train arrives.
Bro this trains look like there are from romania.
But we have 50/50 in romania can see a lot of new modern trains and old ones.
Sorry czechia but i see more old ones.
Can i get an explain about this?
0:46 That's the whole point.
13:03 the Czech Pendolino
On the narrow platform stations, you can't be standing on them until the train stops. If the driver sees anyone on the platform, he can't pull into the station, no matter how slow he's going and will yell at you to get out of the way. :D
That doesn't seem right. Do you have any evidence of this?
@@viktorvanicky2777 To jsou předpisy. Výpravčí ani nemůže pustit vlak do stanice pokud jsou na perónu lidi, nebo teda může, ale jen na kolej dál od budovy.
On those double deck trains, do the halves of a door operate fully independently, such as only opening one half when pressing a button?
Yes, there are separate open buttons for both parts of the door.
@@benolifts Never seen that :)
You learn something everyday
And im actually used to it
In the first serie product od thé 471 double decker unity in one přes thé Burton are opened alkohol two doors. In the new series Is open ONLY thé one part beat thé Burton.
My favourite train in Czech Republic is the class 560: ua-cam.com/video/Hs2tKxhpP9I/v-deo.html
Regionova is even more like Pacer
best trains are 162/3 u should look them up
Who needs platforms anyway?
it is cool how good did u pronounce Praha Smíchov
I am rubbish at pronouncing words in other languages
On line Smíchov, Radotín etc... Stations are in awful conditions. You dont see as many stations looking like Radotín, those are really old. You should take line S9 from Prague main to Benešov
nice video! i'am czech.
13:37 excuse me what?
Someone dressed as a dog was being filmed. I had no idea what it was about. They had a fairly professional looking camera. I have found out through a comment that they have a twitter account.twitter.com/b_railway_dog On their twitter they mention that they appeared in my video!
you seem to be interested in lifts
Do you have Czech Koruna?
Can you go to Slovakia?
