matForceToneMapScale was set to -1 (default) for me which is probably why my footage sometimes has different brightness levels. I will try 1.0 to see if that works with my previous footage (I hope -1 is equivalent to 1, when the brightness is "normal" and not affected by bomb plants etc.)
This is a really great , for new editors and even for veterans as a refresher. To add some insight on a few commands for anyone interested. For 1:57 you might wonder why do that since you can adjust that in the editing software , there is a really important reason why and you should always consider using it. In scenarios where you want to take closeups , adjusting the value like in the video , being really close will give more "steps" to the depth , if you tried really harsh adjustments on your depth (fog / relightning ) you'd notice some weird steps you'd have to blur but it would affect players and other hard edges so adjusting it when recording for specific shots can you give crisp closeup blurs and no "step" BS. This is happening because the default depth is 8bit , you can change that though , you can record as 23bit depth and you dont need to do any value adjustments since this is a dynamic range and its amazing for more advanced compositing , but the drawback is that it takes a lot of storage space since you can't compress them like normal streams as .avi , you need to keep them raw as .exr sequence (or similar formats that support dynamic range though anything that is not a sequence make it really slow to edit [ at least what i tested ] ). You can find how to do it in the hlae wiki > commands > mirv_streams > OpenEXR depth stream Also i highly recommend making a particle stream , one that contains all particles effects separate from the world and players , toning down or up specific particles on a separate layers makes it amazing for dealing with the low res blood texture or enhancing the molotov fire / gun flares and many other stuff.
Did you learn anything new? Let me know! 👇
