Dear Kristen, your tutorial is very useful, thanks! I am new to Silhouette and struggle with print & cut. Everytime I send my project to print, it does it always in black & white, even though I used colours. I don't have any options in preferences where I could select "print in colour"... Do you know by any chance how do deal with this issue? Huge thanks!

I have a Canon MG5300 inkjet and it's great. We've been through a lot of inkjet printers over the years, this is the only one that has worked consistently - even if left unused for a while. It's also worth noting that even if not printing photos (can't remember the last time I did that), using glossy photo paper can make a big difference if you need something that really 'pops'! For those who are using other cutter software, Sure Cuts A lot does offer CMYK as an option (at least in the Pro version - probably in the others too). I checked on my Business version of Studio and it only has HSL and RGB options still. (I don't print from it, so had to look!)

createinspain - My experience with Canon printers has been similar. My last two or three inkjets have been Canon, and they've been very consistent, high quality printers. And thank you for mentioning glossy photo paper. A paper's finish can definitely affect print results. Colors tend to be somewhat less vivid on uncoated papers and more vivid on papers that have a very smooth or glossy coating. It's also good to know that Sure Cuts A Lot offers a CMYK option - thanks for sharing!

@@kdotbecca I used to have a Cameo but swapped to a Silver Bullet a few years ago, so I am familiar with both lots of software and have done tutorials on both, but even I had to check that the business edition of Studio didn't have a CMYK option! :)

I don’t believe this is right. Rgb is subtractive. When you place colors together, the subtract to white. Cmyk is additive. Colors placed on top, add together to make black. At least that’s what I learned in school

Kristen, What can I say. Came in from a day out and what does appear. OMG this video has helped me so much understand the color issues that I see when I use Print and Cut using Sil DSP. Thank you so much!!!! These coloring videos are fantastic. I will also check out the Canon Inkjet Printer as I am looking for a new one. Linda

Majorly valuable information; thanks for explaining it all! I always noticed images don't look quite as "good" when they're printed than they do on the screen. Now I know why! So useful too, that you take time to show us how to keep this to a minimum. Your information is intended for crafters, of course, but this has practical applications in the "civilian" world too.

Thank you again for this videos... learning so much about color and also paper that can play an important part in how the image prints out. I will try some new paper with my Espon printer.

What did you tell the printer to do when you printed the adjusted colours? I have adjusted in silhouette 5 times now but when i print nothing changes because if i select no colour adjust nothing happens but if i select auto wont it just adjust what i did counteracting my adjustments?

I had the same issue, but when i went in to the color setting in the print dialog box, i increased the yellow all the way. (my green was coming out blue!). that is the only way I am making a difference in the color. Nothing else worked. I use a canon iP8720. I know your comment was 2 months ago but if you get this let me know if you had any success!! :)

@@bajebean80 i had to buy new printer. Apparently the scam is that companies “claim” they converted a printer to sublimation but all they did was add THEIR ink because you cant change ink once filled you have to use it always you can’t change it. They get bulk ink from china and seperate it in small bottles which means the mix can always be slightly different. All machines need a icc profile based on paper and ink these companies don’t they expect you to accept the colours because they will keep getting your money for the ink because its a no name brand. Now i have epson et 8550 with izumi ink and izumi paper and the icc profile for all those components and its perfect. Sometimes saving money is not the answer.
