I’ve owned this fine 1987 Chrysler Fifth Avenue for just over a year. I’ve had quite a few adventures with this vehicle, but it has just sat for the last 6 months. I’ve been trying to sell this Fifth Avenue for quite a while with absolutely no luck. These M body Chryslers have been junked and crushed on a daily basis, and there aren’t that many more left. Certainly there has to be a mega Fifth Avenue fan that wants to save this golden chariot? Come join me as I take the car on a cruise and rediscover what this 80s high end Chrysler had to offer.

Who wouldn't want to drive certified BA Mike Ehrmantraut's car? If I wasn't already driving a 2000's Crown Vic, by this generation arguably the most refined of the road boats, I would totally be all over this.

I had a 1986 that I bought for $400. Drove it for 6 months, sold it to a buddy for $500 and then a year later bought it back for $500. Then drove it for another year. I actually really loved this car. It was super straight and super slow. My wife hated it. I Should have never sold it. Very cool.

Chrysler kept this GREAT "combo" for DECADES, A VERY WISE CHOICE! I have owned MANY cars in my 66 years, but these "318/Torqueflight" MoPars were BEST! The MOST DEPENDABLE, REALLY NICE DAY-TO-DAY VEHICLES!

I daily an 89 Fifth Avenue with a little over 60,500 miles. Drives like a dream. Delete the lean burn system, install Summit long tube headers, Edelbrock intake and a Demon 4 barrel carb and keep it. Picked mine up for $1,700. Love it.

What's unique about this 5th Avenue is that it's from 1987 which was the first model year where the car was actually built by AMC. Before Chrysler aquired AMC, Chrysler entered into a manufacturing agreement in 1986, .....then the following year, Chrysler aquired AMC. This was sort of the bridge that convinced themselves to buy AMC. They needed production capacity and they also realized AMC was a very good take over candidate. So this is a Kenosha Built by AMC Chrysler before Chrysler bought AMC! it's very unique!

Ok, so I'm the Johnny come lately of the group. I know it's been over two weeks, but I'm also one of the 6 people in the world that would love this car. Right after High School, I bought my first car from my great uncle (who was superintendent of the school I went to) a silver on chrome with a maroon interior 1987 Chrysler fifth avenue. It had 199,999 miles when I went to pick it up in 2000. I drove the wheels off of that thing, blew the stock engine after 50k miles, put a 360 out of a Ramcharger in it and drove it another 50,000 miles until one day a kid cut my brake lines, filled the tank with sugar and plugged my key holes with toothpicks and super glue (salty mf). It sat behind my family's garage for another five years until my father made me scrap it. I seriously miss that car. I have an opportunity to buy a white one locally for $650. I've been watching your videos for a while but somehow missed this one. If you'll take what I'm going to pay this guy, I'll fly to California, drive it back to Wisconsin and record the whole thing for your youtube channel. That's the best I can do, it'll be $350 for the plane ticket, and another $600-$700 in gas to drive it back.

That is a great thought, I live in Royal Oak MI and I worked to install the dino bays in the Chrysler Tech Center. For those who do not know the museum is on the same property as CTC and the very nice test track. When Daimler Benz bought and gutted Chrysler Benz sold the tech building and everything in it but because of a very logical law reversed the sale. The law states you must work in the benefit to the company and there was no way of proving this was but somehow it was fine to drain the retirement accounts for all the management, well just those who did not agree with fleecing Chrysler.

Idk is the used car market blowing up or anything, I’m looking into a 89 fifth avenue with 81k miles on it, excellent interior and exterior, having a mechanic checking it out next week. It’s listed for 6k, is it worth it? Roughly? Thanks!

Did you end up buying it? The market for these is all over the place. I've seen them run from $500 to $20k+. Not many of these left, but not a whole lot of buyers for them. $6k seems a bit high for me, but it does seem like prices are slowly creeping upward.

Is that as far as the seat goes back? Sat and one of these and loved it but the power seat was broken. Not sure if my 6'4" self would be comfortable in one.

Yep! It's not a large car on the inside. I end being pretty close to the steering wheel.

Thanks. Shame because I'd pick one of these up otherwise. I like the styling better than the Town Car and other similar vehicles of the era.

You say it's listed too high...and it needs work...then you ask why noone wants it....and, they still used the Corinthian leather after that car

I know it is only two years later but I am looking for a 1985-1987 great shape Fifth Avenue. My first care was a Gunmetal Gray with Mark Cross gray leather 1985 Fifth Avenue. I loved the car but being at the time I knew very little about how to work on cars I sold it to my dumb ass brother who beat on it and then sold it for pennies on the dollar and still blames me for selling him a crap car. BUT I live in Michigan and I would need to see how much it would be to have it shipped or drive it all the way back, I do love driving though.

Donate it to a deserving student or working poor person who will appreciate it. It would also make a great movie prop if anyone is currently making a movie set in the 1980’s. Otherwise, you have a $1,500 car.

Ever since I saw one at a used car lot; I have wanted one.. unfortunately I didn’t have any money at the time but I saw a 87 with the 318, it was red on corinthian red leather interior, I have a video of it on my channel if your genuinely curious of it.. if I could have one for just a special weekend get away car I would totally get one.. but I personally want one blue with crushed velour blue cloth interior.. when I have the space in my garage and the cash I’ll treat myself to one maybe, thanks for reading

I adore this car but the problem is I’m not in US and the regulations here not allowing you to import an old car should be 2019 or 2020 , if I can import it I will buy it from you buddy

  • @tskraj3190
    @tskraj3190 5 років тому

If you can't sell it for the amount you desire, fix it up and turn it into a "sleeper". Whether you keep the engine/transmission you have in it or replace it with a 440 or a modern Hemi. Nothing better than having an old "grandpa" sleeper car and leaving a Mustang, Camaro or Challenger in the dust.
